Thanks everyone!

Seems that ultimately, it's just something to talk over with the GM, but I really appreciate the feedback and confirmation that I'm not missing something in the RAW, it's just been addressed.

Hey all!

Instance in a recent game where a rogue tried to use diplomacy on a derro to de-escalate a situation. They did not speak a shared language, so it didn't work, but that lead to discussion on can a diplomacy check be made if you don't speak the same language.

For instance, if you're trying to de-escalate a situation, showing your hands don't hold any weapons, using a soothing/non-confrontational tone of voice, body language, etc - can you still "Make an Impression" if you don't have a shared language?

My instinct is yes, though at a higher difficulty, but I don't see why you wouldn't be able to? There's a feat for Intimidation that lets you use it non-verbally (Intimidating Glare) - but I don't see a similar one for Diplomacy.

There's a lot of instances in various media where characters don't necessarily speak a shared language, but they still manage to convey general meaning of a "we come in peace" type of way.

Definitely praying to the gaming gods that a Paizo staffer weighs in :)

Does Golarion have the equivalent of dime store novels? Or even just general prices for fiction or non-fiction books that aren't named with specific benefits?

Especially in places like Absalom or other major cities with multiple printing presses, it feels like you would have books more readily available to the general public, but I can't find anything on just generic book prices and with the "new" PF2 currency values I'm not sure what would be reasonable

Playing in a game where my elven character has fallen in love with a human. She is low-key looking for a way to extend his life (not indefinitely, just to lengthen it closer to her lifespan).

Other than the Thuvian sun-orchid elixir which is essentially impossible to get, any ideas that aren't full on evil? Vampirism and lichdom and all that is not going to fly with his Mendevian Crusading, Iomedae worshipping self and my elf wouldn't consider those options really anyway.

Any advice is appreciated; so far all the references I'm finding are D&D mechanics only and not Pathfinder.

Hey everybody!

I'm running Pathfinder this weekend and I have been hunting all week for a musical cue that I'd really like to use to creep my players out, but I'm just not finding what I want.

I need a song that has a female vocalist, preferably a capella or with minimal/classical instrumentals, that is creepy. Eerie. Haunting.

For references, something along the lines of C21 FX's Blood Red Roses or Ionna Gika's Gone.

If I have to I'll repurpose one of those, probably Gone, but I'm hoping someone might have some suggestions :)

If it has a kind of 'death' theme to it, even better, but I'm open to any suggestions. She's basically the distraction as the trap is set/massacre is kicked off lol
