Hey! I'm just now looking into DW (got the paperback last night) after playing a oneshot with premades at my local store. Never participated in a PbP game before so forgive me if I'm not 100% up to snuff on the particulars of PbP games. On to business then... =================================================================== Lewyn of Galonde had just ridden into the valley looking a bit worse for wear but otherwise his usual cheery elven self. He looked forward to the soft bed and warm meal that awaited him in the local inn. As the wagon carrying him and his meager possessions rolled forward, drawn by an old but well cared for horse, he pulled out his fiddle and began playing a song. A light-hearted tune to complement the wonderful day in the valley. He carried the song with him into the inn and hopped up onto the bar, stamping out a jig and making merry the patrons. He enjoyed seeing the faces of the people smiling and laughing wherever he went. After his performance he dealt with the innkeep: food, drink, and a place to sleep in exchange for his song and entertainment.

Its not set in Krynn its in Galorion so its not entirely out of the question.
I posted before asking about a paladin build I was making. Due to RL stuff the GM for that campaign has to take a break and one of our players is going to start a game based roughly on Dragon-Lance. Our only requirements for the characters in the campaign is that you must be an arcane spell casting class at level 1 and focus on that class (or an arcane prestige).
The theme is that of teamwork, alignments don't matter, races don't matter, classes don't matter. The back-story is that we all went to essentially Hogwarts together and graduated at the same time and we're all good friends or otherwise required to work together. I'm playing a Draconic bloodline Sorc but wanting to take the dragon theme further I asked my GM and he allowed me to add the Half-Dragon template. My question is will I be too powerful? We already have a Noble Drow Wizard and everyone is well aware that all Paizo content is open and available. Any character is allowed as long as the party works.
Alright thanks for the advice! Right now my two first level feats (playing a human with the +2 in CHA) are Weapon Focus (bastard sword) and Tower Shield prof. He's a paladin of Ragathiel and our house rule is any divine anything gets proficiency with the deities favored weapon. Or could I do something better that's more in keeping with the "healer of the land" type flavor I'm going with?
Our current story-line is coming to a close and for my next character I want to play a paladin. Having never played one and being the person I am I proceeded to read as much as I could about the class and its abilities So I read a few of the guides in the "Guide to the Class Guides" thread and they all seemed to say that Lay on Hands is basically a waste if you use it on anyone but yourself and that you should only take mercies for things that you aren't or will soon be immune too. And that channel energy was basically never to be used I had this idea to play the Hospitaler Archetype which basically halves the amount of uses of Smite Evil you get but adds Channel Energy as its own class feat (instead of burning up Smite Evil uses). Also in the guides they advocated archer paladins or two-handed paladins. Where as I was going to go the route of full-plate + tower shield. Would this just wreck my char and make him a nonviable character as the guides seem to insinuate?
Or to represent the fact that the weapon his being held against the enemy actively if the opponent moves away the user, in order to keep his stacking debuff, must make a Grapple check against the target (-4 for not having 2 hands free) to move with the target and cannot take a move on his next turn (but can still full attack) provoking AoO as normal. If the Grapple check fails the user cannot move on his next turn and must make a DC 15 Reflex save or be staggered for 1d4 - 1 (minimum 1) rounds and deal the weapons unmodified damage to himself (this represents bearing down on something, having that something move but continuing to push down)
Description (so far): Designed for slaying vampires this sharpened shaft of silver deals damage as a wooden stake of the same size minus 1 (minimum 1). When a vampire is hit with this weapon it deals damage as normal (bypassing DR) and the vampire must make a DC 20 Fortitude save or fall to the ground helpless for 1 round. While the vampire is helpless in this manner, a creature can attempt to use the silver stake to finish off the vampire by driving it through the vampire's heart as a full-round action. Once the debilitating effect of the silver stake has ended, the vampire can pull out the stake as a move action. A vampire slain with a silver stake is subject to the rules and limitations of slaying a vampire with a wooden stake as described under vampire weaknesses. This mirrors the heartstake bolt from ARG I'm currently playing a Dhampir Kinslayer (Inquisitor Archetype) and I'm trying to think of a way to incorporate silver in to the staking mechanic. I've used wooden stakes in melee to finish off helpless vampires before (vamp rendered helpless through magical means then coup de grace with stake). I think this fits the flavor of the vampire hunter fluff this archetype has and was just wondering how balanced this weapon would be. The item has every chance of existing. Iron stakes can be used as wooden ones. (look at the wooden stake's description). This would just be an iron stake cast in silver (cost would be 25 gp per stake) |
