Hello all,
I couldn't find a thread anywhere addressing this so I'm sorry if this was settled already and I'm just asking again. I've been playing society for a couple years and my main character is a tattooed sorcerer with a familiar. I used to play where when delivering touch spells through the familiar, I would use any spells(including ranged ones) that were not area based(things like snowball, acid arrow).
Somewhere along the way, someone said that the deliver touch spells through familiar only applied to melee touch. I'm not sure what the reasoning for this is, as the ability states:
Deliver Touch Spells (Su): wrote: If the master is 3rd level or higher, a familiar can deliver touch spells for him. If the master and the familiar are in contact at the time the master casts a touch spell, he can designate his familiar as the “toucher.” The familiar can then deliver the touch spell just as the master would. As usual, if the master casts another spell before the touch is delivered, the touch spell dissipates. It doesn't specify melee touch or ranged touch as far as I can tell, so I would rule that it applies to both. The only part that might be misleading is when it says "the 'toucher,'" but right after it says deliver the touch(unspecified as to melee or range) spell as the master would.
All help is appreciated,
~Primus

It's legal if your GM says so.
Well, from a PFS standpoint. The reason for it is it is significantly cheaper. In that case, then no, absolutely not, you can't make stone guns. Thanks for the info!

You can make one out of stone or obsidian and then use magic to make it work better, but at that point it's the magic that matters, not the material. The magic is what sets the properties of the weapon at that point, likely using the material as inspiration for its abilities, but the material itself on its own isn't gonna cut it. So a +1 stone pistol is legal, and may as well not be stone for purposes of drawbacks?
Hey everyone,
Just wondering if the kitsune is PFS legal without a boon. Thanks
Elven Curved Blade is so overused. Go be creative.
Yeah why no armor? If no armor, then you need dex. You shouldnt be going around at what, 10 AC even if you have alot of HP. First level is 17-18 HP? cant be worth it in my mind. why con instead of dex? Maybe its just flavor but you will be murdered by lots unless im missing something like challenges and such.
It better not be just a bunch of constructs thats hardly fair to casters. I fought a golem this past weekend and freakin crap they suck for a rogue sorcerer wizard and amiri who cant hit crap party. only won cause of flank sneak attack crit. But please no, thats quite the year-long debuff for casters.
Primus
Yeah pretty sure you could but of course itd suck because of lots of penalties.
How about you dont screw around with RAW and dumb ways to exploit things and just choose the bloodrager class. I dont want the Robe of Arcane Heritage to be removed because im a REAL sorcerer and it makes a big difference.
Primus
haha yeah, that crossed my mind, but i think it takes some time to do that.
really? maybe Hero Lab is bugged, but it said i could. Hm alright maybe ill go with celestial greensting scorpion/scarlet spider
yeah haha i go cast mage armor and my armor makes me fail dumbest case ever. But, thanks tempest i will probably go with num 4.
Primus
Yep, thats why im wearing lamellar +2 AC max dex +4 and Check Pen is -. the proficiency i mentioned is the prereq for arcane armor training. I dont want to spend two feats to lower my spell failure chance. i mean, if i were to do that and used an armor with 30% fail chance made it mithral and used Arcane armor master or whatever(making it 3 feats) i could send it to 0%. but by then i might want to use quicken spell. cause ill be high level enough. so swift action will be used elsewhere.
basically 16 AC without having to use buff spells is preferable. id love to be wearing mithral parade armor because 5% fail is low i think and +3 no check penalty. My problem although it may not be much of one is that for arcane armor training it requires a swift action, and if thats no problem, i also need the light armor proficiency feat to get it.
+3 dex i have, and i dont want to have to cast 2 spells really. 5% spell fail is near nothing in my oppinion. And shield hm idk i might just have it but no i think ill stick with my armor.
Alright then from what daenar says, ill wear lamellar and use mage armor sparingly because +2 AC is sorta worth a spell, sorta not. but shield would be alot more useful now that i now that those 2 dont stack.
Dangit. Alright. My AC wouldve been amazing. I can cast 5 lvl 1 spells per day cause high charisma allows you that. Hm. So should i ditch my armor? I hate to do rely on spells for stuff. I mean, i could just not bother with mage armor at all. or use it to bring to 18 AC and ignore lamellar?
Yeah. oh fiendish hm. does adding the template make it go up like that? and at lvl 7 im going to get a clockwork familiar cause theyre awesome.
Chemlak wrote: Primus Agnarok wrote: Yep alright. Cause casting mage armor sends me up to 20 AC. So ill bee good probably anyway.
Thanks guys
Primus
Ze alarm bells, zey ring!
A 2nd level wizard with a non-buffed AC of 16? Mind if I ask how? Hm. sorry that would be 3rd level (+3 dex, +1 natural armor(bloodline), +2 lamellar cuirass.) 5% spell failure chance. although now tempest has me wondering if they stack or not.
Hey guys,
For my lvl 2 sorcerer, i have a scorpion that gives me +4 initiative. at lvl 3, im getting improved familiar so i can get a better one then and later at 5-7. Should i wait on that, or get it now? currently at lvl 3 i plan to use a quasit because theyre pretty sweet. Any advice?
Thanks
Primus
Yep alright. Cause casting mage armor sends me up to 20 AC. So ill bee good probably anyway.
Thanks guys
Primus
Yeah, I would assume that you can never get more than 5 missiles. The intensified does what it does for spells like burning arc, fireball, chain lightning and similar things.
Hey PF People,
I am wondering if the Mage Armor and Shield spells stack to a +8 AC and if its worth spending two rounds/just doing mage armor way before combat buffing. (Im level 2)
Thanks

select casting time: swift

The reason i asked is i cant access that part of the website for whatever reason. Thanks anyway though :P
Hey PF people,
Can you make me a list of swift action spells? Or maybe nonstandard/not full round. I know the Litany spells and one other, but couldnt find any lists elsewhere. Help me out?
Thanks
Primus
Alright thanks. +4 strength to counter that :P
Hey people,
This is just a short question: Can you bite(im a tengu) people when TWFing?
Thanks
Are there any archetypes other than vampire hunter, iconoclast, spellbreaker or whatever, and witch hunter? ill check out infiltrator, but i dont like any of those 4. vampire hunter is alright i guess but i dont feel like losing the one thing i dont remember what it is.
Primus
I already dumped Cha :P i dont find it useful for my characters other than sorcerers. or a Myst Stranger gunslinger. I dont care for social skills, because im not very great at roleplaying. Also, i dont have whatever book inquisitions are in. only got core, APG, inner sea magic, and bestiary 1-2.
Hm alright. Not sure i like any inquisitions, and i dont find Conversion inquisition very good.
Hey PF people,
Im making an inquisitor for PFS and hes mostly set, but im trying to figure out which domain to go with. I want a true neutral deity so i can cast any aligned spells. He isnt going to be super spellcasterish though. OBviously inquisitors arent but this guy just not much either. Other than some healing and litanys and maybe later on inflict wounds. And buffs. But death domain gives you a 1d6 per round bleed effect equal to half you cleric(inquisitor?) level. And at level 8, you heal from negative energy. That sounded sweet to me, is it a good choice?
Thanks
Primus
Ok. I will try these dual swords in a game and see how effective they are first-hand. I will decide from there.
Thanks guys
Primus
Oh so dont bother with still spell? that would save me a lot of actions.
Athaleon wrote: One other thing, I can't believe I forgot. You're a spellcaster, and hands holding weapons can't cast spells with somatic components. So you're either using move actions to draw and sheath every time, dropping a weapon, or waiting on a Glove of Storing - And who knows when or if you'll get one?
That's the ultimate decider right there. Use a two handed weapon, or if you must two weapon fight, use either a two Bladed sword or a weapon and light shield (which leaves a hand free).
And uhm, i coould always just go with still spell. +1 level but dont have to screw around during the rounds.
Athaleon wrote: Sheathing uses up your move action, so that will be a pain in combat too. Try to get a Glove of Storing so you can still two-hand it on standard action attacks, and attacks of opportunity.
Using a light off-hand weapon will be a lot better. Two Weapon Fighting still has a lot of problems, but it's not as bad as dual one-handers.
One other thing, if you're not planning to take Improved or Greater TWF (good call), switch your Strength and Dex stats.
I guess switching those is a good idea, but i had Dex mainly cause i wanted the AC and all that dex is helpful with. And tengus have that bonus. I didnt want to mess with crazy races/race archetypes. And yeah spellcasting :D ... That. Well yeah i would probably be sheathing and unsheathing every 2 rounds. I mean, inquisitors arent so spell-heavy. And imb two bladed sword is heavy two handed?? Does it get two attacks just cause its double weapon?
Primus
Man. Would having 2 B Swords out but only attacking with one give me the normal +3 to hit? Cause that would give me some convenient situational options. Also if that doesnt work i could just sheath one on the spot. the only difference is i dont get the 2 handing B sword bonus which i dont care about for the time being. And maybe i should just go with Wakizashi and B Sword. How well would that work for me? +1 to hit for both. And imbicatus, I understand that'd be best, but I do alot for cool. and eh not such a fan of biting and clawing people.
Primus
Guys, when this just doesnt seem to work, I will just flip over to using B Sword and wakizashi. I dont see me wanting many feats to help the inquisitor side very much soo yeah. but maybe you guys could suggest useful Inq feats, cause im a know-nothing with divine casters, but i would like to mess around with inflict/cure wounds and similar.

Aelryinth wrote: The penalty to hit will rapidly ruin your level of fun doing this. If one of them was a Sun Sword and counted as a short sword, you could do this with only the -2 penalty.
It's been proven repeatedly that the -2 to hit from using two weapons is a killer in the damage race, especially vs a 2h weapon.
Here's your problem:
It takes a full attack to get off two attacks.
You are -4 to hit. If we use Power Attack as a baseline vs a 2h sword, that's -8 damage per weapon you are NOT getting.
It takes you twice as much money to get a better weapon.
You get normal Str, and .5 Str on your off-hand.
Yes, you'd get Bane on both of them. it doesn't matter if you don't hit with them!
If you wield just ONE Bastard sword in both hands, going to 1h if you decide you need a shield, you gain the following.
You pick up the equivalent of +12 or +8 damage, since you don't have -4 to hit.
You get Str x 1.5 for every attack, so another +2-3 to damage.
You get full damage on standard move and attacks.
You only have to pay for upgrading one weapon.
You can slap on a shield for higher AC against a tough foe, and won't be penalized for using a shield when you do so.
Thematically, it's quite cool. Realistically, you're going to be flailing around with your swords, not hitting anything, and not look or feel cool.
==Aelryinth
I understand this and thanks, but maybe reword it with a -1 instead of -4 in mind. and i have a decent grasp on this cause i was ridiculous enough to try to dual wield crossbows as a sorcerer.
Well -4 would be right, but Ive got +3 strength mod. I wasnt going to keep up with ITWF and GTWF because i feel like that is way too much negatives. and Imbicatus, you are wrong(at least partially) on the wakizashis. It'd be the same to go with Bast Sword and wakizashi or similar. Unless that extra crit number is so important(can be/is, but unless its keen, i prefer 1d10[19-20x2] over 1d6[18-20x2].) And dual keen bastard swords would be the coolest crap ever lol. Ill see as i go, but for the time being, you guys have been helpful and im sticking to this.
One last thing, are there any other feats useful to help me with this? maybe weapon finesse since ive got 18 dex and plan to raise that.
Thanks
Primus
Khaz, this is a tengu. And to clarify for some of you who may not have caught it, tengus are automatically proficient with the bastard sword. And yes, if it really doesnt work ill ditch one, and go two handed or even just get a lighter weapon(dogslicer or something, then both are +1) in the other hand. Seems like this will be alright. Ive never played with an inquisitor, and his stats are
Str: 16
Dex: 18
Con: 11
Int: 7
Wis: 16
Cha: 7
I dont think i need intelligence or charisma for much of anything on a character like this, so this seems fair? tengus are +2 dex, +2 wis, -2 con. Dont like that con, but I havent got any special race boons so im dealing with it cause other tengu features make it valuable enough.
Primus
Hey PF People,
Im an inquisitor and have proficiency cause of race with Bastard swords. Got 16 strength. So lvl 1 ive got a -1 to hit with both(including TWF). Is this worth pursuing? I wanna make it be a fun guy, and i thought this would be a good idea. Let me know.
Primus
Darnit. That is pretty retarded, and near useless in my opinion because electricity is not commonly resisted, but there arent alot of lightning spells. although i guess chain lightning is the wrecker there cause loads of +1s on it.
Thanks anyway
Primus
Hey PF people,
I'm a draconic(bronze:electricity)sorcerer. Bloodline Arcana is
Whenever you cast a spell with an energy descriptor(mines lightning) that matches your draconic bloodline's energy type, that spell deals +1 point of damage per die rolled.
So when, for example, i cast fireball with elemental spell metamagic feat on it to change it to lightning, would i get the extra damage?
Thanks
Primus
Poldaran, Could you post the useful feats for blaster sorcerers on this thread? i couldnt see them on the link you posted for whatever reason.
