![]() 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11 Perception. As Porter steps forward he keeps an eye on the snipers he had already spotted in the trees. Everything had been so strange, and happening so fast in the last few days, that he decides to defer, and let his more civilized companions handle the situation. He'll just keep an eye out to make sure that violence neither begins nor escalates. ![]()

![]() "Porter Potts". "As I said earlier", the obviously Shoanti man says as he wipes the blood from his un-bonded hand. He then remains silent, as the group heads towards the stables. Once there he takes some time to examine the available horses, finally settling on one he seems to approve of. Porter is of medium height and build, but when he raises his arms to fasten the bridle on the horse, it is easy to see the solid cords of muscle stand out on his body. Not an ounce of fat on his chiseled frame, bespeak that he might be stronger than he looks". He also moves gracefully, and has an intelligent glint in his eyes. His manner of dress is unusual, with traditional buckskins, and furs, over a fine chain shirt, that has been painted black so as to not shine. In the areas where wear has loosened some of the paint, the glow of mithril shines through. He carries a fine spear in one hand, and loads the mount down with several other weapons. His feet are shod in black calf high soft leather moccasin boots, and several pouches, and fetishes drape the belts, and bandoleers about his body. He has several tribal tatools, and has some small items braided into his long dark red hair. ![]()

![]() "Anything"? Porter looks around at the others...they seemed capable at first glance. Troubled thoughts cross his mind as he rises to his feet. "Porter Potts, mystical warrior, pledges his loyalty to the cause from now till the spirits claim my soul". The strange Shoanti man then draws his knife, and cuts across his palm, offering it to the others. ![]()
![]() Thanks. I did see that, but really my character's and Skorns play basically the same scout/archer role in the party. I'm really not a min/max player, but making a 4th level character that goes into melee with lower AC, and not enough HP to survive one blow is not coddling, it's insane. The neighborhood bullies would have ended his adventuring career before it began. I see future difficulties because to make a challenge difficult enough to challenge the more formidable characters, they will be able to wipe out Porter with one blow. I don't see any way I can make him work as a more melee oriented character with that lack of HP. I appreciate the opportunity, but I'll probably bow out before I grow to attached to the character :-). ![]()
![]() I'll mess around with changing up Porter...but with his terrible HP rolls, and the Magus unable to use heavy armor (If I could afford it that is) I don't know how that would work. One house rule I use is that you roll two dice for HP's when you level up. Still gives you the opportunity for low rolls, but lowers the odds. Also roll an additional dice for all the "Cure Wounds" spells and discard the lowest. Just a thought... |
