Background:

Polmora Fetch is one of the few remaining members of a minor House long broken by the conflicts in Brevoy. Many years ago, before the Vanishing, House Fetch had served as retainers, diviners and conjurers, for the ruling House Rogarvia. When Rogarvia disappeared the Fetches' fortunes began to decline with the rise of their longtime political enemy, House Surtova. The end did not come all at once, of course, House Fetch was clever and resourceful, but slowly attrition began to take its toll, and an unsuccessful final gambit, an ambitious, but ultimately doomed, attempt at a coup provided the terminal stroke. The House was officially disbanded and all of its members, save those able to flee Brevoy, were put to death.

Those remaining Fetches came to the River Kingdoms, where they did what they needed to do to live. Like so many before them, they took to the bandit trade to make their way. That was in Polmora's grandparent's day. They were the last to have known the true comforts of a noble's life. Still, even by Polmora's time, the third generation in exile, they have retained something of their noble air and affectation, passed down alongside what arcane secrets remain theirs to hoard.

Polmora herself is a mix of noble and bandit blood, her mother a wife taken from the camps, and her father having no male heir Polmora finds herself the terminal point of the Fetch family name. Growing up among the bandit camps has made her clever and wary, though her father's position kept her safe from the worst the brigands had to offer. However Polmora is smart enough to realize that this cannot hold forever, smart enough to realize what life for a woman among such men is likely to mean sooner or later, and smart enough to realize her own father will likely try to trade her off for some favor or alliance. And none of these things please her. So, having heard of the attempts to settle the Stolen Lands once more, she has quite the camps and run off to make a new life for herself in whatever settlement will have her. Her talents for leadership, and knowledge of how to call creatures from beyond make her a valuable friend to have, and friends is what she needs right now.
