RACIAL FEATURES
------------------------------

Ability Modifiers +2 Dex, +2 Int, -2 Cha
Hit Points 4
Size and Type Medium humanoid with android subtype

Constructed For effects targeting creatures by type, androids count as both constructs and humanoids (whichever type allows an ability to affect them for abilities that affect only one type, and whichever is worse for abilities that affect both types). They receive a +2 racial bonus to saving throws against disease, mind-affecting effects, poison, and sleep, unless those effects specifically target constructs. In addition, androids do not breathe or suffer the normal environmental effects of being in a vacuum.

Exceptional Vision Androids have darkvision with a range of 60 feet and low-light vision.

Flat Affect Androids find emotions confusing and keep them bottled up. They take a –2 penalty to Sense Motive checks, but the DCs of Sense Motive checks attempted against them increase by 2.

Nanite Upgrade: Specialized nanites maintain an android body, but they can be upgraded to perform additional tasks. Androids who have this racial trait gain Nanite Integration as a bonus feat, ignoring the feat’s prerequisites.
Rebooting Nanites: Whenever you fail a saving throw against an effect that causes you to gain the asleep, blinded, confused, cowering, dazed, dazzled, deafened, exhausted, fatigued, frightened, nauseated, panicked, shaken, sickened, staggered, stunned, or unconscious condition, you can spend 1 Resolve Point as a reaction to attempt a new saving throw against the effect at the same DC. If you succeed, the condition ends, though you still suffer any other effects of the original failed saving throw.
This replaces upgrade slot.

Combat Tracking Your exocortex provides you with enhanced combat ability, granting you proficiency with heavy armor and longarms. At 3rd level, you gain weapon specialization in longarms just as if your class granted proficiency. As a move action during combat, you can designate a foe for your exocortex to track. As long as that target is in sight, the exocortex feeds you telemetry, vulnerabilities, and combat tactics, allowing you to make attacks against that target as if your base attack bonus from your mechanic levels were equal to your mechanic level. Designating another target causes you to immediately lose this bonus against the previous target.

Memory Module You can use your exocortex’s memory module to enhance your own knowledge. Once per day, as a reaction while not in combat, you can reroll a failed skill check (see page 243) to recall knowledge (see page 143). In addition, your exocortex grants you the Skill Focus feat as a bonus feat. You can’t use your exocortex’s memory module while combat tracking is activated. Every time you gain a mechanic level, you can rebuild your exocortex’s memory module, replacing the exocortex’s bonus Skill Focus feat with Skill Focus in a different skill.
Current Focus: Athletics

THEME FEATURES
------------------------------

Outlaw - You are well connected to shadowy secrets and back-alley deals, and you both know about key players and have handy skills of your own. Reduce the DC of Culture checks to recall knowledge about the criminal underworld by 5. Sleight of Hand is a class skill for you, though if it is a class skill from the class you take at 1st level, you instead gain a +1 bonus to Sleight of Hand checks. In addition, you gain an ability adjustment of +1 to Dexterity at character creation.

BACKGROUND
------------------------------

Plexel-3 renewed aboard a mining frigate in the Diaspora several years ago when the ship was boarded by salvagers. The crew lay dead throughout the frigate whether from laser fire or lack of atmosphere, but to all appearances the threat came from within. There was no sign of intrusion, some crew members clearly fired on each other and the atmosphere appeared to have been vented deliberately. The frigate had been anchored to an asteroid, lost for the last 40 years.

Since her return to society, Plexel-3 has been consumed with the lost memories of that life and how she came to that end. Plexel was never able to dredge any lost memories from that previous life and it continues to gnaw at her. After her renewal the crew dropped her at their port in Verces and she spent the next couple of years trying to build a new life as a mechanic in the slums of Naboken. In time and after she had made the right connections, she won a job as a researcher for the Everlife Adaptation Corporation where she both designed and had implanted an experimental exocortex as part of a project dedicated to the uploading of consciousness. The project dovetailed with her own neurotic pursuit of immortality in digital consciousness.

Her research in this field was groundbreaking and despite layers of NDA's somehow word spread beyond the walls of the E.A.C. complex. Plex suspects corporate espionage, but in this case the client must have been the Banner of Purity who hit Everlife with an engineered cybernetic rejection virus that killed several of her colleagues and left her with flashbacks of her last renewal and in a state of panic. After the attack, Plexel couldn't shake the feeling that she was being trailed and rather than become another victim of the Banner she fled by booking passage off planet. Since then, she has been working as a ship's mechanic while continuing to pursue her research, terrified of returning to Verces. However, she is now technically in possession of experimental tech that Everlife retains the rights to. So she is constantly on the move, switching out contracts with ships from time to time to keep ahead of any bounty hunters. Along the way she met Cedona, who after asking far too many uncomfortable questions has helped her establish new credentials and advised her to keep some level of goodwill with Everlife. Since then Plexel has periodically dumped diagnostic data and further research through anonymous shell infosphere accounts to a colleague at Everlife and Cedona has helped to facilitate this in the past.
