Invisibly Phillipé darts forward into the room behind Varlis, then summons his natural heritage and training to blink forward as far as the light reaches.
"Certainly is Varlis, but can you get through here? Without making it worse." Phillipé blanks on Nicola's turn of phrase, not wanting to know where she's got that information.
"Oooh the pretty lights, it effervesces across the skin..." Phillipé says dreamily as the silvery waves slides across him. Then he suddenly realises the numbing pain, not being able to see himself he hopes that it hasn't burnt anything too badly. "Do we cross here, get past the mural hall? It could be a guardian trap." The invisible mage asks.
As Varlis' hand moves to the door handle Phillipé keeps low, one hand flicks open the leather pouch upon his belt concealing the spell materials inside. There's only the soft creak of leather and rustle of cloth to betray the invisible mages presence as he crouches down - his vision focussed through the doorway.
"That's always the right choice." A soft voice emanates from nearby, his tone light and wry.
As he touches the murals and sees himself in the visage, he pats himself down and reminds the others (since they cannot see him). "It's alright I didn't get transported into the mural.... now there must be the same requisite route from here." Phillipé looks down the hallway and when the others start to move, follows them down there.
"How many measures?" he asks as he prepares. "I think personal invisibility might be useful."
"We go, investigate. Move like the wind through this place and be similarly unharmed, for we have right and spirit on our side." He says softly, as if incanting a cantrip of fortunate upon the group. As he lets go of the door to the Symbol Room he cast detect magic on the new Mural Room, just in case these creatures burst into life.
Trying to keep his feet under him, using the door as a crutch Phillipé gasps; "Well I don't think we turned that maybe the symbol has an alarm linked to it?" He can barely register the symbol in the adjacent room. "I'm not sure but it possibly should be inert.... I wouldn't want to try it however."
"Best be alert to any new foes? Preparation time?" Diverting his gaze back to the mural room.
"Nicola, do you have dispelling magicks? For in that room lies pain, though not much else. Did you spot ought else Varlis?" Phillipé asks, blinking slowly but keeping his death grip on the door.
Phillipé looks into the room as he opens the door, shielding himself from the brunt of the rooms occupants. Crimson DM:
His knuckles tighten on the doors hand and he immediately looks away from the room.
Phillipé wraps his hand in the leather strap of his satchel, gently brushes the handle of the door - in case of any poisoned spikes upon it's length. He then checks his footing, making sure that there's no pressure plates. After ascertaining where the hinges are located and thus the swing of the leaf, the mage grasps the door and pulls/pushes it open - all whilst ensuring he's mostly out of the lines of sight and Varlis' firing arc.
"I believe it's just on the warded lever." Phillipé says casting his vision around the room carefully. "Although that's Abjuration Magic and father never liked that - so my knowledge is very limited to the options. I think that exit door might prove a better bet, especially since the lever might just be used to summon the rotating vestibule." The mage keeps his words to hushed tones as he gets ready to open the door, but awaits any results of secret door detection. His plan is to open the door so it swings towards himself & opens a 'firing range' for his companions.
"Madness you say, a glyph, well perhaps we can dispel or disrupt it. Or I could use my servant friend to pull the lever - unless we used something more mundane like a rope." He sighs enjoying the promise of the safer arcane & trying to take his mind away from their recent horrors. Although he does glance cautiously at the doorway to the side & concedes she's correct that the door is a better direction with a simple tilt of his head. "Right behind you, Sis."
Hope you have a bit of time for the sights & cuisine, that you aren't snowed in or anything like that.
Trusting his sister as she enters the room surveys the situation and then uses the lever. Phillipé had never been much for faith, trusting upon what he can deduce and derive - thus he holds his breath and glances at the ceiling, in case of falling. Stumbling a step as the room rotates, yet again when it reaches it's destination. The mage moves towards the centre of the room and touches where he judges the axis is. "Interesting" he says softly to himself before his vision alights on the far room with caution, for anything nearby would have been alerted by the grinding noise. Producing a light he moves forward into the newly revealed room.
"Alright, I'll go first." Holding up a lantern in one hand he focuses intently upon the floor before him. With a sudden lurch he vanishes, materialising in the room before him under a shimmering aegis.
"Good idea, I could blink inside. But you are hopefully correct about the lever and that it's just used to drop a shutter - blocking this door." Phillipé replies placing the remains of his rope on the floor.
"Acceptable." Phillipé nods as the glass orb skids across the surface; "Now to try with something sturdier, in case the trigger is a wire or light sensitive." He ponders, getting a length of silk rope from his backpack. Coiling up his muscles and grasping one end loosely whilst ensuring the weight of the rope won't impede the motion, Phillipé casts the rope into the room as far as possible.
"There's some enchantment upon that vultures sword." Phillipé points out as he retrieves a cloudy marble from a soft leather pouch at his hip. "Shall I?" he asks, before he'll flick it across to room so that it skids with a professional motion.
"It may be better to work this through mechanically - for we have got past the labyrinth keepers. We roll a marble across the floor in case anything is attracted to the motion. Then cast a rope across the floor if it's based upon weight?" Phillipê speculates before checking to see if anyone has rope.
"Certainly." Phillipe replies looking apprehensively at the lever and to the gap in the room edges.
"Although it could be a simple incantation or cleansing cantrip that is used to obfuscate the senses - equally you can hide mystic aura's." He expounds nervously at the potential lethality of the vestibule. "The alcoves should be safe, but it could be that the floors and ceiling collapse - maybe I can levitate us across there?"
Knowing time is of the essence Phil chivvies the others along, though at the back of his mind the 3rd bedroll is calling to him - just in case they didn't all sleep in the same area.
"Well done by the way, your shots were excellent and true." The mage compliments Varlis sincerely as he moves towards the back of the party as they quietly progress down the hallway illuminated by Nicola's orison.
My rolls gave me a 21 point buy, but TT generously gave me 7 points to buy it up - and working it out efficiently Phillipé is 27 point buy. (But Phil also bought a +2 belt of dex with his cash).
A crease goes across his handsome brow, there's a small tick to his eyes as he replies; "Not as such, I can defend myself. Offensively, I slacked off in my fencing lessons." He remembers back to his harsh tutors, cold courtyards and the much more appealing Library of his education.
Glancing down the passage behind him, Phillipé moves slowly back towards the group. "Sorry about bouncing past you, but I wanted to ensure I wasn't in the way & that he didn't escape..." He explains himself softly as to not carry too far down the passage.
'Hmmm, we cannot have just one person in combat with that thing.' his thoughts turn to a wince as Varlis is heavily struck. Suddenly the mage feels very vulnerable, for he hasn't even his sparkling armour conjured - a fact he rectifies very quickly.
"Would we have come through his flower garden were we not in his trust?" Phillipe retorts with a hint of distain; "Now lead away, or just go away." He flicks his wrist, using all his high-born hauteur and commanding presence.
"She at least will acquiesce to Lady Melyia's requests, you'd prove wise to do the same - lest we have words." Phillipe adds darkly, knowing that these creatures respect power and authority. "You'd best show us to Sivit quickly."
"We have been sent by Lord Arkona to retrieve the Seneschal and to administer his authority to any that oppose. So stand aside." Phillipe says in a brusque naturally authoritative manner of one born to rule. However he's also stood near the back of the group.
Whispering very faintly so the noise won't carry; "It's the other guard, that the crocshasa talked about."
Focussing and drawing power from the inscriptions of his ancestral spell tome, he starts a low enchantment. Then releases it upon Varlis; "Go forth with greater nimbleness."
As his sister lets Caydens' healing flow through them, he mumbles. "Thanks Sis, next round is on me. Maybe a light heal too." He holds out a wand, from his backpack. Moving up the the back of the group, he knows that he's a bit of a liability next to the pair of wise trackers. "Speed is good, but lets try and get the drop on them. Maybe Sivit can be reasoned with - even if the Lady cannot." He mentions quietly as they move through the labyrinth; "Although we need to prepare before any conflict, that's my strength...." His mental cogs whir, helped by the constitutional.
"He did say this was a maze and thus it might be that it's a merely a barrier to obfuscate and delineate. Though the information we gathered of the people here might be true, I wouldn't necessarily assume their complete allegiances." Phillipe says quietly. "We need to act from a position of power, even if the reverse is true. Lord Arkona might be a corrupt individual, but we must rescue the Seneschal. Do we try negotiation? To one whom houses the evil rakhasa..." Phillipe lets the others lead the way, for his eyes aren't sharp enough to spot traps or find the route through a labyrinth.
"Take it's head." Phillipe answers coldly, trying to hide his emotions. However he does add, "They could be trapped on the other side of the rock." Moving quickly down the passageway, he puts his hands against the stone as if attempting to communicate with the impassive rock. "There's nothing I can do...." He mutters to himself.
"No you don't!" Phillipe says roughly moving with an inner fire, pushing forward he moves to the right. Eyes squinting through the gloom at the fleeing form the mage focuses just past him. "Mynd â ni yno!" he invokes, clapping both Varlis and his sister on the shoulder to take them with him. A shimmering curtain opens up and envelops the trio, the exit being just in the route of the evil reptilian creature.
The sphere of fiure engulfs him, but he rolls out of the way, smouldering slightly as he moves next to the warrior. "Varlis, let your arrows pierce his bluster and take away at least a piece of evil from the world" the mage says channeling the touch of spirit within himself to enhance the archers ability. He steps forward and places a hand upon Varlis shoulder to imbue him with insight into their foe.
"Well the alternative would've been worse, as you're about to see...." Phillipe says with ice in his voice.
"Methodical, not slow." He retorts, well used to the sibling banter and hoping to lighten his mood. "I suppose you'd prefer a light beer?" He continues after the group placing himself near the middle to help as required. "What should we do aboiut the Lord?" He openly wonders.
Though Phillipe will take the lead he's mindful for allowing Varlis lines of sight and will let his sister take point if she wishes. And he shrugs at Nicola; "Did you learn Light cantrip, I've only got some oil. Not even a lamp." However he does cast Mage Armour to bathe himself is a softly glowing nimbus.
With a slight wince Phillipe responds; "Hmm that's troublesome, I suppose we'll have to do something about that... or at least take it into consideration." The mage starts to move upwards to the rakhasa. "Sivit is she a healer, jailer, torturer or a mixture of the three?" He questions.
"So Lady Melyia and Sivit the warden are guarding the Seneshcal at the centre of a labyrinth?" He asks making sure to ascertain there are no falsehoods. "I believe we'd need a map and prior knowledge of any traps that may line the route - that'd mean you wouldn't have to accompany us. For we know discretion of your actions is important." He flicks out a hand in a languid motion, as if in after-thought; "You mentioned Lord Arkona's harsh reputation?" 'We really don't need more of them really, getting in bed with a devil is never fun...'
Apologies for my lack of posting, my friend tried to fix the OS on my PC and slightly knackered the wi-fi.
'Seems we've fallen in with a bad lot. That Arkona is as viscous as some of my family, well I know how to deal with him - placation and evasion.' the mage thinks grimly to himself, glad and proud that his sister is dealing with the strange creature. [i]'Better to have by-passed Arkona than come into conflict with him. Finally he speaks up; "How many would we need to protect? Just you, or are there others that feel similarly?"
