Fixed it all to what you said, raised Wis from 12 to 13, used extra skill points from Nemesis to raise Profession Soldier and Intimidate.

Probably best if I get any changes to Perun, Fury, and Karan as early as possible, as well. I would rather not be rushing any fixes I need to make.

Perun is done. His story feat is Nemesis, which is with the individual I mentioned to you in PM before.

Here's my eventually-gonna-be-a-mammoth rider so far - he still needs to completely redo his equipment (that's equipment from another character I used as a template), as well as stat out his horse, and my companion, but just to give you an idea of the character...I tossed a little story bit in there as well, let me know what I need to tweak.

Mike wasn't sure what got into him. Ninety nine times out of a hundred he'd have just smooth talked his way out of problems with the two men, even if they were racist pricks, but there was something about the glint in the tall man's eye that bugged him.

Had he swindled that guy before? Gotten too friendly with his wife? Who knows... he sure never spent any time out in Kentucky, and if it weren't for that bus crashing and all the chaos going on, he'd have been in New York by now where his sister was expecting. Oh well, maybe the tall man had been around his part of the country once and he'd gotten him on the capital gains investment trick.

At least they were long behind him, and no way they were headed this way, but he sure had a situation to talk his way out of now. He looks up at the guy pinning him to the ground with a knife at him.

Oh, well, put on the charm, he thought. A sheepish smile came to his face naturally. "Oh, hey, sorry there buddy, I'm not used to foot brakes...my motorcycle back home has hand brakes. Got this thing for my niece, Amy as a present last week, but, hey...figured with the cars not working, good way to get around, eh?" He grins his winning smile. "No harm, no foul, eh buddy?"

You can see he's completely unarmed, and the obviously smaller man isn't really trying to fight. He looks up at Shane with an arrow knocked at him and blinks. "You guys need to ease up on the coffee, eh buddy? It's not like I'm some bear or something." Turning back to Tommy. "Wanna let me up, friend?" A winning smile, although, frankly, he's sweating. You would be too if one guy had a knife at you and another an arrow pointed at your head.

"You, uh...guys going hunting or something?"

Do I need to roll manipulate, or subterfuge, or anything, or is it no-rolls with other players? Kinda new to WoD

phone cards also a no go, cell phones were not small in 98 nor had prepared taken off. Around this area and Jackson finding one was an act of a few gods to say the lest. That and cell phones would not work in the area till towers went up about 5 years ago.

also where was ya when the event happened? it is day two with no power and it's in the mid 40's with last night dropping below freezing.

I meant phone cards to use at pay phones, but...it's kind of irrelevant considering none of that works now anyway.

I was going to say I was on the same bus as some of the other people when the event happened. I was ejected from the bus during the crash and landed in the snow, blacking out for a few hours. When I woke up there were dead bodies all around, etc., and I was bruised and scraped, but no worse for the wear since the window was shattered by the fat man sitting next to me before I hit it. So I headed towards the city to find help. Avoiding the natural course of heading to the police most people would take, I went to the nearest motel and scammed my way into a room, complaining that I had a reservation and if the power was on they'd see it filed electronically, etc... I don't know how long this power outage will last (since I have no way of knowing it's any more than a local event), I am sleeping lightly under the thick covers, with my gear in the bed next to me, since I might have to dash at any moment.

In addition to the fake IDs and lockpicks, here's some other items I'd like to get a hold of, but didn't really see in there (prices are probably negligible):

Pack of cards
Pack of trick cards
Set of dice
Set of loaded dice
Double-headed coin
Same exact coin but NOT double headed
Glasses, wigs, fake mustaches, hats, temporary hair dyes, pipes, and other easily identifiable accessories that he can swap out. People remember details, but never faces, after all.
Metal briefcase with false compartment.
A few spiral notebooks, locked diaries and pencils.
Grooming supplies. This man needs to look good, after all.
Some extra outfits he always carries in a backpack of various formalities...suit&tie, jeans & t-shirt, workman's coveralls, etc. with a set of shoes for each.
Toothbrush, comb, etc...this guy lives on the road.

Everything but the clothes should fit in the briefcase, easily. That's pretty much everything he carries with him, except, like I said, the spare cash and the phone cards.

I'm still working through the book, so I may grab a flaw or such to add more, but this is what I've got so far.

heh prepaid phones where not really around in 98 so that part is out , i'll double check everything this evening and try and get you in roughly the same time as Kalderaan

Ah, right you are then. Let's go with phone cards, then. Same principle; don't let yourself get tracked. After all, if they were able to link Mike to all the grifts, scams, and robberies he's performed, there'd be warrants out for him all over. Good thing he's great with alter-egos, disguises, and the like. (Skill specialties, I forgot to mention - lying, fast-talking, and sleight of hand)

Don't know if you've ever read Going Postal or Making Money, by Terry Pratchett (Discworld...gotta love it), but I'm going with a better looking Moist Von Limpvig here.

"Never run, just walk away calmly. Nobody chases the guy walking away confidently."

"Everyone wants to believe that it's a real diamond and this guy is really desperate to sell it. The idea that it could be glass does cross their mind, but man, he just looks so trustworthy, and he's so down on his luck."

"No, we've never met before in our life. I've just got one of those faces."
(This may be hard with his strikingly good looks, though.)

Name: Michael "The Chameleon" Torres
Aliases: Answers to more than a dozen names, and never gives his real name to anyone he doesn't know EXTREMELY WELL for anything.

Occupation: Professional Confidence Man (Claims to be a "Traveling Street Magician" independent business for tax purposes, to not be investigated by IRS/etc.)

Do you have family?
An older half-sister, Maria, who raised him when their mother died. Mike never knew his father, and he never asked about Maria's father. He keeps in contact with her every few weeks, but since he switches pre-paid phones to keep from being tracked, she doesn't know how or where to contact him.

If so where are they?
New York, where she pursues a career as a threater actress but is currently an exotic dancer "until she makes it".

Are you dating?
Dating implies seeing someone AFTER the grift is over. No. But he does very frequently juggle women as sources of income, many of whom think he's away on business trips, in the peace corps, volunteering at orphanages in Hong Kong, at an Aunt's funeral, etc.

Do you have a hobby?
Stage magic. He learned sleight of hand and simple mechanics as a magician's assistant when he was a kid. To this day he practices illusions as a way to keep up with diversions.

Where did you grow up?
Miami, Florida.

Where are you living?
He doesn't stay in a single city for more than a month, tops, usually a couple weeks. Most of his "stash" is filed electronically in numerous off-shore banks (big problem when the crash occurs) and in diamonds and other high-value jewels in his sister's apartment in New York, as well as a few wads of cash he keeps on himself for emergency.

Do you have friends that might make interesting NPC's?
Not really. He doesn't grow close to anyone, except Maria, for the reason that they could easily betray him (as a career betrayer, he knows it's very possible).

Thin, sleight, handsome man. A mixed latino/caucasian American born to a broken home in poverty, Mike learned fast at a young age that lies can make the world turn around, as he saw man after man take advantage of his mother.

His mother, wanting to give him an honest hobby left him often in the care of his uncle, George, who was a professional magician. It's through this that Mike got into sleight of hand, and used it, and a very creative imagination, to start running street cons, such as 3-card monte, at the young age of 11.

By the time his mother died when he was 13 he was already making a sizeable amount of side money, but unlike most juvenile delinquents, Mike didn't fall in with the "wrong crowd". By the time the police arrived in any scam of his, Mike had already ditched his outer layer of clothes, dropped his sunglasses and hat, and blended into the crowd of shocked observers.

Mike made excellent grades in most classes, usually by talking other kids into doing his homework, and by naturally good instincts in test taking, not so much his brains. He made it into a decent school, but after two semesters of class, he dropped out.

Four years later Mike is on the bus to New York to visit his sister when the crash occurs...

...should be interesting with a cop joining.

If there's anything I'm missing, let me know. For equipment, I'm not sure if they have fake ID's, passports, etc...also, lockpicks would be nice. Seems a bit stupid you need tons of disposable wealth to get that, though. Not the truth IRL.
