Pavo was born in Ilsurian of Chelaxian descent. His father was a fisherman focusing on day trade to sustain the family. He had two older brothers both of whom showed satisfaction in living out their lives as simple fishermen. He, however, had other plans. Pavo would often skip school to head to the waters of Lake Syrantula where he would practice skin diving and cutting loose bottom nets and traps from their anchors with his dagger. He would then sell the newly poached goods secretly behind the market. This practice wasn't without difficulty as Pavo would often be accused of thievery by trapless fishermen. His skill with daggers made him a force to be reckoned with, but he rarely found himself coming to blows, having quickly developed the ability to talk himself out of sticky situations.
All that changed when his father came home from a day's fishing looking uncharacteristically sullen. His fishing boat and traps/gear had been set to torch while he was set into dock for mid-day meal. Pavo, understanding the reasoning behind this seemingly unwarranted crime, confessed his practices to his father, gave him the majority of the money he made so that he may start rebuilding his business, and took to the road...
Pavo’s travels took him east and he finally decided to settle in Kassen. He landed a job as an errand boy at the Seven Silvers. When he wasn’t busy running messages for Trelvar or rebuffing Asina’s flirtatious proposals to have tea, Pavo spent his time honing the tricks of the trade under the tutelage of Jimes. Behind closed doors, they would often get into heated arguments over stealing from honest patrons, usually resulting in Pavo giving up on trying get Short Change to change his ways. When Jimes got angry, he tended to revert to the language of his people, so it wasn’t long before Pavo was completely fluent in Halfling.
Personality:
Curious, mischievous, light-hearted, honest, trustworthy (at least as much as rogue can be), loyal, good-natured, dependable. He enters every situation with a sheepish lop-sided grin on his face, his arms nonchalantly crossed over his chest (his daggers always just a quick flick of the wrist away) and he tends to lean upon whatever surface presents itself, propping himself up with one leg bent at the knee. Confident, but not arrogant. He refuses to steal from honest folk, an amendment to the ways of his past. If he has no opinion on a matter, he will usually side with the majority, part of his easy-going manner.
Appearance:
With perpetually tousled dark brown hair and fair skin, most wouldn’t be able to pick Pavo out of a lineup, if it weren’t for his striking bright emerald eyes. Otherwise, he looks like a typical youth not coming from nobility or poverty. He is slightly above average in height with a lean build. Beneath his pocketed vest and open necked shirt, a keen eye could spot the glint of the studs on his leather armor hidden beneath, and his only visible weapon (who’s to say how many more are concealed on his person?) is a short bow and quiver of arrows slung across his shoulders. In reality, he has a dagger hidden in a wrist sheath on each arm, both attached to his person by a weapon cord, and possibly one or two more hidden in his vest or boots... His dusty brown leather boots come up almost to his knees and his gloves have the fingers cut out (to manipulate all manner of security device, although you didn’t hear that from him.)
