SPECIAL ABILITIES Alertness (Ex): When within 5 feet of Parlee, she gains the Alertness feat. Improved Evasion (Ex): When subjected to an attack that normally allows a Reflex saving throw for half damage, Greymalkin takes no damage if he makes a successful saving throw and half damage even if the saving throw fails. Share Spells (Ex): At the Parlee's option, she may have any spell (but not any spell-like ability) she casts on herself also affect Greymalkin. He must be within 5 feet at the time of casting to receive the benefit. If the spell or effect has a duration other than instantaneous, it stops affecting Greymalking if he moves farther than 5 feet away and will not affect him again even if it returns before the duration expires. Additionally, Parlee may cast a spell with a target of "You" on Greymalkin (as a touch range spell.) Parlee and Greymalkin can share spells even if the spells normally do not affect Magical Beasts. Empathic Link (Su): Parlee has an empathic link with Greymalkin out to a distance of up to 1 mile. She cannot see through his eyes, but they can communicate empathically. Because of the limited nature of the link, only general emotional content can be communicated. Because of this link, Parlee has the same connection to an item or location that an Greymalkin does.
Parlee was born, appropriately enough, during the Month of Fates. Even in her earliest childhood, she possessed uncanny grace and a precocious intellect, but seemed perpetually distracted by something just out of view. Her unique birthmarks branded her as unusual. As she grew older, it was realized that she was blessed of Pharasma, gifted with the power of foresight, able to see the threads of fate and being not quite anchored in time. Importantly, she was born after the death of Aroden, when all other foreseers lost their grip on the future (and many of them lost their minds). By her early 70's, Parlee was thoroughly bored with the pace of life in the Mierani Forest, and began to agitate for an education. The patience usually associated with the long lifespans, and long childhoods, of elves was absent or insufficient for Parlee. The Tower of Stars in Celwynvian refused admittance to one so young, and seemed reluctant to allow a foreseer into the haunted city in any case. As a result, the decision was made to send Parlee to the next greatest school of magic on the continent: The Acadamae of Korvosa. The Acadamae had no such issues with a student older than much of the faculty. Parlee's father accompanied her to Korvosa, as her guardian (since Parlee is still not a legal adult by Elf standards). Unfortunately, two years ago, a man named Gaedren Lamm caught wind of their frequent comings and goings between the Acadamae and the Elvish enclave at South Shore. Because Parlee appeared so important to the elves and the Acadamae, he plotted to kidnap the youth and ransom her back. However, as such things so often and so tragically do, the attempt went wrong. Parlee ducked a drugged dart that was intended to put her to sleep, which struck her father instead. At her father's urging, she ran back to the enclave, and expected him to follow after vanquishing their attacker. He, however, secumbed to Gaedren's poison, and Gaedren, rather than deal with an adult hostage with the Guard on alert, slit his throat. After the incident, Parlee moved fully into the Academae dormitories for her own protection. She has never forgotten Lamm's face. Now that she has graduated from the Academae, she wants revenge for the loss of her father. Academae Graduate Spoiler:
You have passed the grueling Test of Summoning and graduated from the Acadamae.
Prerequisites: Specialist wizard level 1st; cannot have conjuration as a forbidden school. Benefit: Whenever you cast a prepared arcane spell from the conjuration (summoning) school that takes longer than a standard action to cast, reduce the casting time by one round (to a minimum casting time of one standard action). Casting a spell in this way is taxing and requires a Fortitude save (DC 15 + spell level) to resist becoming fatigued. |
