I am looking for any one around Osan interested in playing some society games. Once I figure out how many people I can start working on a venue. More than likely it will be at the CAC. There are currently 5 people just from my Shop but we are trying to expand the community. Please send me a message or respond here to connect.

The Exchange 1/5

Ok sweet, thanks Michael

The Exchange 1/5

I have three gm sessions and a couple play sessions that I did not participate it. I think someone was using the wrong number. I have sent emails to the "report a problem" links and nothing has happened. Is there a way to delete them?

The Exchange 1/5

Thanks so much, This is even better than I expected

The Exchange 1/5

Is there a quick reference any where that states what tier all scenarios are. I know I can make my own but if there is all ready a thread that would be better

I.E.

#3–26: 7–11
#4–01: 1-5

This list would make it easier to search the site for which ones to buy next.

If this already exits I apologize for my lack of searching skills

I'm going to run a monthly online PFS game using Gametable. Has anyone else tried this yet? If so what issues have you faced? How was the overall gaming experience? I'm interested to see how many other people have tried this approach and other thoughts on the subject.

I have recently tried a PFS scenario using D20Pro/Ventrilo. I do not know anything about game table. I know with D20 it was easy to port the maps from the scenario and import the characters from hero lab. However; there are still a lot of tweaks that need to be done on the program. Fog of War and spell hit/damage is still very clunky.

As for the play, it all seemed to be smooth. There were some things that took longer than in person. 1) setting up the maps was a bit tedious(would be remedied by having the PFS prepackaged...hint hint)
2)Spell damage and hit is not plug and play but I think they are working on that.

Overall, I think It was a good experience and worth the time. Especially if you have members out of town but able to still play. I also plan on trying it in my home game just for the maps.

I think there is a definite place for online tabletops as long as the tabletop is easy to use and does not take away from the role-playing.

A1) No, all wizards may scribe a scroll (without purchasing the scroll) found during the course of a session.

"A wizard does not have to purchase a scroll found during the course of a session in order to copy that scroll into his spellbook. After the session adjourns, normal treasure purchase rules apply as detailed in Chapter 9."[Zizazat]

Absolutely correct. Everybody gets equal access to all items found on their chronicle sheet, so every wizard gets access to the scroll for scribing purposes.

Q2) I am a second level wiz. During my scenario we found a scroll of lightning bolt. When I am high enough level to cast it will I have to buy the scroll or do I get it for free because it is in my chronicle?

A2) No you may not scribe this scroll for free. You cannot scribe a scroll you are not eligible to cast. "After the session adjourns, normal treasure purchase rules apply as detailed in Chapter 9."[ Zizazat]

Almost but not quite correct. There is no rule against copying a spell you are unable to cast into your spellbook. This means your level 2 character could scribe the scroll of lightning bold during the scenario, he just couldn't cast it until he hit level 5.

A more appropriate example would have been:

Q2) I am a second level wizard and I attempt to copy the scroll of lightning bolt into my spellbook at the end of the scenario while completing my chronicle sheet. I fail my spellcraft check and cannot copy the scroll at this time. When I gain a level, will I have to buy the scroll or do I get it for free because it is on my chronicle?

A2) No you may not scribe this scroll for free. At any point after the session adjourns, you may purchase the scroll for the normal cost and attempt to scribe it normally. "After the session adjourns, normal treasure purchase rules apply as detailed in Chapter 9."

Thank you MR.Slanky,

When I was arguing with the other wizard that we both could scribe the scroll, the GM shut us down by saying it didn't matter cause neither one of us could scribe it due being unable to cast it. So really we both should have been able to scribe lightning bolt into our spell books as long as we made the DC 18 spell craft check (and the arcane writing check? DC 23)

That brings up another question if we fail the Writing check does that mean we failed it completely for that session? OR are we allowed to sit there and wait the in game days to pass the writing check.

Sorry for being annoying and thanks again.

Wizards and Their Spellbooks

Pages 219–220 in the Pathfinder RPG Core Rulebook
clearly discuss how to handle a wizard’s spellbook,
but Pathfinder Society makes one adjustment
to these rules: a wizard does not have to purchase a
scroll found during the course of a scenario in order
to copy that scroll into his spellbook. A wizard only
needs to spend the time, succeed on the appropriate
checks, and spend the gold necessary per the table on
page 219 of the Pathfinder RPG Core Rulebook. Keep in
mind that the process of copying a spell from a magic
scroll into a wizard’s spellbook removes the spell
from the copied scroll, resulting in a blank piece of
normal parchment.
The normal rules for finding items during the
course of a scenario are that they can be used during
the scenario but must be purchased after the scenario
in order to be kept. This clarification for wizards and
their spellbooks is the singular exception to the gear
rules. See Chapter 9 for the full rules on finding items
and treasure.

The intent is as follows:

During the course of the scenario, meaning before the table adjourns, a wizard has the opportunity to scribe found scrolls into his spellbook. He needs to make the appropriate roll per pages 219-220 of the Core Rulebook with his GM present. Because failure at this check does not kill the scroll, the wizard can then buy the scroll and try again later.

This means he can't try to scribe the lightning bolt scroll without purchase six chronicles later. There seems to be a mix of the "when can I buy items off my chronicle sheet?" question and the "when can a wizard scribe a scroll found?" question.

I'll clarify this in the next update of the Guide.

I read over this several times while thread digging and personally would find it much clearer if:

Zizazat you clarified it perfectly. So I believe my two questions have been answered.

Q1) If there are two Wizards, does only one get to scribe the scroll for free (minus the ink costs)?

A1) No, all wizards may scribe a scroll (without purchasing the scroll) found during the course of a session.

"A wizard does not have to purchase a scroll found during the course of a session in order to copy that scroll into his spellbook. After the session adjourns, normal treasure purchase rules apply as detailed in Chapter 9."[Zizazat]

I thank everyone for the help. If am still wrong please correct me. Hopefully this will help other noobs like me in the future.

Ok I am way new to the PFS and RPG's as a whole. I was hoping to find some clarification in the forums for wizards spell books but I am having a hard time finding the answers. This thread seems to be the closest to my questions.

1) If there are two Wizards, does only one get to scribe the scroll for free (minus the ink costs)?

2) I am a second level wiz. During my scenario we found a scroll of lightning bolt. When I am high enough level to cast it will I have to buy the scroll or do I get it for free because it is in my chronicle?

I am sure these questions have been answered; I am just having a difficult time finding them. I thank you for your help in advance.
