M Aasimar Monk/6 - HP 52/52 - AC 23 (touch 19, flat 20) - Fort +7, Ref +6, Will +7 - Init +2 - Perception +12 - Ki 8/8

Ostendiel had a similar experience... only he leveled with this one, and then all of a sudden went to the Plane of Air to bear keeps on clouds, or something. (A game I GMed while Ostendiel was in the middle of this game. Or maybe before? He wasn't the right level yet if so.)

OH! OK. Heh. Thought we missed a clue somewhere. I did remember that we heard about them from whatshisname the guy with the water trap.

Alas, I fear that a trip to Winnipeg in November won't be in the cards (harrow or otherwise) for me.

Ostendiel nods. "We have rescued you, and we will help you rescue your kin. You should use your ability to blend in as we formulate a plan."

Ostendiel tries to estimate how long it's been since he last used a charge of his mage armor wand to bolster his defenses. Has it been close to an hour? Would it be worth refreshing?

Also, I had this idea that Ostendiel had been wounded and was down 18 HP. However, I didn't seem to update my header line, and you didn't list him as down in your last GM update. Is he down? If so, he will ask if it's OK to use the CSW potion:

CSW: 3d8 + 5 ⇒ (1, 8, 2) + 5 = 16

Attack, including +1 bless and +2 charge: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (7) + 13 = 20

Seeing Ironwhip stuck in a pit for now, Ostendiel moves down the row of pews and turns so that he ends up in a position opposite Tarn fighting one of the sentries. When he gets there, he attempts to deliver a solid kick to the duergar....

I don't know if Tarn has a weapon out, so I haven't included a flank bonus. I do include +1 for bless.

Unarmed attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13
Damage if hits: 1d8 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13

The dice still hate me.

M Aasimar Monk/6 - HP 52/52 - AC 23 (touch 19, flat 20) - Fort +7, Ref +6, Will +7 - Init +2 - Perception +12 - Ki 8/8

Ostendiel considers trying to run around Ironwhip to gain a tactical advantage, but sees that the area is cluttered enough that he is more likely to open himself to an opportunity attack if he moves fast enough to get there. He instead stays put and delivers a flurry of blows to Ironwhip.

Attack 1: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13
Attack 2: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
Attack 3: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

However, because he wasted precious focus thinking about moving, he is not able to deliver a solid attack.

That is the dice's revenge for a couple of low Fort saves against Stunning Fist this scenario.

Ostendiel charges, able to charge past Dewberry thanks to Dragon Style. Upon reaching the oversized duergar, he lashes out at the duergar with his fist, attempting to stun him.

Unarmed strike with Stunning Fist; fort save DC is 17.

Attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (12) + 12 = 24

Ostendiel will also search the duergar woman and the xorn, as well as the room, to see if there is anything interesting or illuminating.

Ostendiel begins a flurry of blows against the Xorn. "You should have stepped back, we had no quarrel with you," he says before beginning.

I've included +1 for higher ground; subtract that out if it shouldn't apply. Hope this table is stable.

Attack 1: Defensive spin style strike, dragon style, punch: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16
Damage: 1d8 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16

Attack 2: Kick!: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19

Attack 3: Slice with adamantine temple sword: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13

Ostendiel sighs when, out of the corner of his eye, he sees the Xorn rise from the ground and attack Sard. He had hoped that they might resolve the situation peacefully with that one, but no such luck.

Knowing the duergar woman to be a foe, he delivers a flurry of blows.

First attack is a style strike (defensive spin); if he hits, he gets +4 to AC (dodge) against her attacks for a round.

Attack 1: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26
Damage if hits: 1d8 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12

Attack 2: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23
Damage if hits: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

Ostendiel drops into a dragonlike stance and charges forward to attack the duergar woman. He punches at her, focusing his strength into the attack in an attempt to stun her.

Dragon Style means he can charge through allies, including Dewberry.

Attack, including +2 for charge: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (12) + 12 = 24
Damage if hits: 1d8 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9

Ostendiel's AC is down by 2 for a round. If he hits, it's a DC17 Fortitude save to avoid stun.

Ostendiel really needs to heal.

Ostendiel, looking quite beat up from the various combats, gets out his wand of Cure Light Wounds. To Sard, he says, "I find that the feeling of corruption I get using a wand like that makes me wish to avoid it. Tarn, or Lis, would one of you be willing to use the magic of this wand to strengthen me before we go through this door?"

Ostendiel winces as the Duergar's axe cuts into him.

Maintaining the grim expression on his face, he spins and punches the duergar, followed by two swift kicks.

Flurry of blows. The first one is a Style Strike, which gives Ostendiel a +4 Dodge bonus (AC up to 26) against the duergar until the beginning of Ostendiel's next turn if it hits.

AoO: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17
AoO Damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8

On his turn, he steps to a position where he's less likely to be flanked, and attempts to deliver a flurry of blows on the red-bordered duergar.

Ostendiel sighs. Knowing he is not the most diplomatic one, he spends the round getting into a better position. With his fast move, he can get up the stairs and behind one of the crossbow-weilding grey dwarves. He does not make any further threatening moves, waiting to see if others in his party want to attempt to talk to them. If the dwarf in front of him tries to fire his crossbow, Ostendiel will take a non-lethal opportunity attack.

(If the stairs are difficult terrain, you'll need to move him back 5 squares so he's at the top of the stairs.)

Swim: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25

Ostendiel looks graceful in the water. He continues to flurry blows at the fossgrim.

Attacks include -2 for underwater bludgeoning offset by +2 for the flank.

Attack #1: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13
Damage #1, needs to be divided by 2: 1d8 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9

Attack #1: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24
Damage #1, needs to be divided by 2: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9

Attack #3: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Damage #3, needs to be divided by 2: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

Again, almost certainly no damage. Probably the second attack hit but its 4HP of damage before DR.... Ostendiel starts mentally reviewing weapons he's seen for sale to pick out a small piercing monk weapon so that next time he's underwater, he doesn't have this problem.

Swim: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27

Full Attack: Flurry. -2 for underwater bludgeoning is included.

Attack 1: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
Damage 1: 1d8 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15

Attack 2: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
Damage 2: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11

Attack 3: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Damage 3: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8

Hmm... not good roles. Damage is halved, so if the second one hits, that's only 5hp, which probably won't penetrate DR. If by some miracle the first one hits, that's 7hp.

Ostendiel has played Legacy of the Stonelords, so he'll recognize bald, grey-skinned dwarves as sounding like Duergar. I know that there's a boon you're supposed to have to be able to remember a creature you encountered before, but I think that's the stupidest idea I've ever heard, with one exception. I mean, hell, p. 32-45 of the Pathfinder Society Field Guide is nominally things the society tells agents, so we all play with a little bit too much ignorance.

"Their heads are bald and their skin is grey?" Ostendiel says. His brow furrows. "Interesting."
