Male Wood Elf Domain Cleric/1

Lots of dots got lost apparently, I wonder how many games got killed by that... :s

Male Wood Elf Domain Cleric/1

It is if we decide to I guess?

Male Wood Elf Domain Cleric/1

so, is it just Scorn and me now?

Male Wood Elf Domain Cleric/1

Warning: I'll be on vacation from august 1st - august 18 or so. I might be able to post in between, but not as often as now. If needed someone else can decide which actions Onnam will take.

Male Wood Elf Domain Cleric/1

With a crooked smile, Onnam eyes the wall where there's more than meets the eyes at first. Hades I thank you, lord of the afterlife and judge of our souls, for this opportunity and granting me a view beyond this reality..

Onnam moves towards the chest and tries to lift the lid with his morningstar.

I'll just keep on posting actions hoping the rest will join in.

Male Wood Elf Domain Cleric/1

Onnam waited for anyone to step up and check out the chest. Unfortunately no one did, so with a soft sigh he carefully examined the room again before moving for the chest himself.

"I hope this one isn't trapped too..."

OOC:

Perception for room: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21
Perception for chest: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
Also in my previous post I mentioned "doors", are there any in this room?

Male Wood Elf Domain Cleric/1

So, how about a little headcount? Who's still with us AND willing to play?

Male Wood Elf Domain Cleric/1

"Mocking us indeed."

Onnam tilts his head while looking around the room. No doors?

"This is no ordinary tomb or treasury. No, this definitely looks like a test. It will make no difference if Aeacus or Radamanthus judges us once we're out of this life. Letting ourselves be fooled is not a good thing."

Peering at the chest and the room Onnam can't help but still wonder what the chest is doing here.

Male Wood Elf Domain Cleric/1

"Oh more grinning imps ahead I guess. Ranorel, you're good at keeping track of things right? You lead the way."

To keep things up to speed, objecting is a question of acting first! imho ;)

Male Wood Elf Domain Cleric/1

"Are you sure?" Onnam asks Lan as the man with the knives says there's no traps around. But before actually getting an answer, Onnam opens the door to the left.

Male Wood Elf Domain Cleric/1

Feeling slightly uncomfortable because of the paiting, Onnam hesitates instead of moving towards one of the doors.

"Eh Lan, would you mind ensuring us that there's a trap in this room or on one of those doors?"

Male Wood Elf Domain Cleric/1

Lowering his weapon, Onnam looks around in the room and wonders at meaning of the grinning imp on the ceiling.

"Well well, a grinning imp. Is he grinning at us?"

Onnam has a slightly worried look on his face as he stares at the painting.

OOC:

Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29

Male Wood Elf Domain Cleric/1

Seeing the rest of group just standing there, Onnam grows somewhat restless.

"Well, shall we move on then?"he says to the group but instead of waiting for an asnwer he opens the door, morningstar in hand, ready to defend himself in case his ears missed something.

OOC:
Trying to move this along, I hope that's ok.
Move action to open door, standard action to ready an attack in case there's something on the other side.

Male Wood Elf Domain Cleric/1

As they walk towards the room they came from, Onnam fiddles with one of the bows they found on the bandits. He looks around to see if anyone else is interested in them before he speaks.

"That's some nice bows those men carried. I would like to keep one for myself. Is that alright with you folks?"

After asking Onnam will continue to the other door in the room with the trapped chest. He puts his fingers to his lips as to sign the others to be very quiet and he tries to hear if there's anything behind the door.

OOC:

Perception to listen: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17

Male Wood Elf Domain Cleric/1

"Ha! Eccentric you may call me, but you'd be wise to at least listen to my advice. Eternal torture in Tartaros is something you would want to avoid. Ylldrom the Mad would be able to tell you that, were he not being plucked apart by a horde of infernal beetles, every second of his afterlife."

Male Wood Elf Domain Cleric/1

Putting up his most serene look, Onnam smiles at the orc.

"I don't know about white hands, but I'm very sure Hades will see them to Tartaros for a very long time. That's not something to look forward to. We should all take decisions in this life to ensure Tartaros is not our final destination. Come with us and I'll tell you more about Tartaros."

He gestures Gark to come with them.

"In Tartaros there's torture, torment and neverending misery for those who end up there....." Onnam says as he walks away.

Male Wood Elf Domain Cleric/1

Everyone else want to recruit the orc? I'm ok with it and then indeed continue through the door here.

Male Wood Elf Domain Cleric/1

O_o the salt... expecting slimes are we?

Onnam wasn't really sure the men they fought actually were bandits, but after finding the rolls of linen and barrels of salt his doubts were gone.
These surely were stolen goods, question was what they were supposed to do with them. Trying to find the owner or sell it off themselves. Onnam looked at the group. His guess would be the latter.

"Let's move on. More bandits are waiting for us!"

Male Wood Elf Domain Cleric/1

"Lan, why are you staring at the trapped chest? Oh did I ask you to? I'm sorry, I ment to ask if you would check to see if this chest is trapped too."

@Monster Master: I had no idea!

Male Wood Elf Domain Cleric/1

Shocked, Onnam looks at Ranorel first and then to Roakrak.

"What the...!"

Quickly he regains his calm and takes a deep breath before he speaks again.

"The road to our afterlife sometimes ends earlier than we expect."

Ignoring Ranorel for now, he turns his attention to Lan:

"If you want, you can still try to disarm that trap. Can we help?"

Male Wood Elf Domain Cleric/1

"Yes Zaagle'Bo, there's so much more to see. Let's not waste too much of our time here.

Onnam turns to the bandit:

"What's in that chest?"

Onnam points to the trapped chest.

Male Wood Elf Domain Cleric/1

I was just joking, I'll happily be at the front (for a while);)

Male Wood Elf Domain Cleric/1

Ok fine I'll be at the front with Ranorel
(stupid GM! I might get killed!!!) ;)

Male Wood Elf Domain Cleric/1

Well as the guide Onnam will walk 2nd or 3rd. He doesn't want to ruin the view too much but also help in pointing out any dangers ahead (so far so good hehe).

Male Wood Elf Domain Cleric/1

With a pleased look at the group's combat performance, Onnam smiles at Ranorel:

"Well, I don't think we've decided yet. Let's see."

Onnam turns his attention to the remaining bandit.

"Bandit, name your last three crimes and tell us what you regret about committing those."

OOC:

Sense Motive to spot lies: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20

Male Wood Elf Domain Cleric/1

Easy with those 20's!

Male Wood Elf Domain Cleric/1

Seeing that the room his companions are assaulting is quite small, Onnam doesn't enter the room right away but moves next to the doorway and makes sure none leave the room who're not with his group.

OOC:

Ready action, after a possible AoO, Onnam will persue any bandit trying to flee the scene.

Male Wood Elf Domain Cleric/1

that's some lousy initiative rolls there :s

Male Wood Elf Domain Cleric/1

Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12

Male Wood Elf Domain Cleric/1

What in Hades' name is Lan trying to pull? In a very soft voice Onnam tries to talk Lan out of poking the chest.

"Lan, why don't you wait with trying to set off any alarms? I'm sure your skills are good but let's not take too much risks right away shall we? There's no need to hurry our final trip to Hades, yet."

Onnam carefully walks to the door on the right. He tries to listen for the presence of the bandits Gark mentioned.

OOC:

Stealth if necessary: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Perception to listen for bandits: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15

Male Wood Elf Domain Cleric/1

"Corruption from beneath the earth, you say? That sounds worrysome. The way to the afterlife is found beneath the earth, we cannot have that road jeopardized by any kind of corruption."

Male Wood Elf Domain Cleric/1

"Oh boy aren't we a feisty bunch" Onnam says with a touch of honest surprise before turning back to Gark the Horsewatcher.

"Gark, thank you for you information. Would you care to join us on a later, more fortunate, moment?"

Nodding to the enslaved orc, Onnam is about to get moving when he recalls hearing some of the groupmembers talking about the pool.

"Gark, before we move on, I have one more question: is there anything special about that pool?"

OOC:

Knowledge(local) for any pool info?: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Perception in case: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18

Male Wood Elf Domain Cleric/1

Onnam is secretly surprised by the presence of Gark the orc but he tries not to show it. At least he hasn't charged us. Yet.

"Hello there Gark. There's nothing we want with you actually, although I wouldn't mind knowing what you're doing here. Are those your horses or are you just keeping an eye on them?"

ooc:

A valet?

Male Wood Elf Domain Cleric/1

After a few seconds Onnam takes a few steps back and peers into the left passage.

"Mmmm now that's strange. Are we being tricked? Anyway, let's move on. I'm curious to what kind of horse sounds like a horse approaching but doesn't approach. Oh and Zaggle, you're right. I'm not afraid of the horses, I'm more worried about any possible riders. "

Male Wood Elf Domain Cleric/1

Alarmed by the approaching horses, Onnam quickly dashes inside and heads to the passage on the right hoping they can hide there as the horses and any riders pass by. When he started to move, Onnam whispered to the rest of the group:

"Quick, follow me!"

As he enters the passage, Onnam tries to see if there's anything unusual or er even dangerous in their hiding spot.

OOC:

Perception check to check out the right passage: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16

Male Wood Elf Domain Cleric/1

As the group rounds the hill, Onnam notices that he's feeling a bit tense. Not knowing what to expect he carefully examines the north entrance.

"Well, here we are. Let's see if there's any surprises here and then move inside, shall we?"

While looking at the entrace, Onnam puts the javalin back with the others on his back and takes the morningstar hanging from his belt.

ooc:

Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19
If there's nothing of note to notice, Onnam will lead the group to the entrance

Male Wood Elf Domain Cleric/1

no problem, are you feeling better now though?

Male Wood Elf Domain Cleric/1

*waves at lordzack*

Male Wood Elf Domain Cleric/1

"May I suggest we take a small tour around the Hill, this way you can familiarize yourself with the outside of the Hill and its surroundings. Although I can understand anyone eager to go inside, in that case we should enter by that worked corridor to avoid the kobolds. For now at least."

Male Wood Elf Domain Cleric/1

"Lan, that's an excellent idea. Why don't you show us how one sticks to the shadows, that might come in handy once we venture inside. There should be another entrance on the northern side of the hill."

Onnam points with the javelin in his hand in the direction of the tracks.

"The rest of us will be right behind you"

Monster Master:

Is the northern side closer to us if we head the other way?

Male Wood Elf Domain Cleric/1

Onnam noticed that the group started to look around instead of heading straight into the hill by one of the two obvious entrances. He observes the trampled tracks to see where they head.

"To make sure we enjoy every aspect of this expedition I propose we follow these tracks to see where they lead. Who can tell me what kind of creatures have walked here?"

While addressing the group with his question Onnam reaches to the morningstar hanging from his belt. At the last moment he seems to change his mind and takes a javelin from his back instead. He then checks his wrist sheat to ensure his dagger is in place.

lordzack:

To see what Onnam knows about other entrances
Knowledge(local): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

Checking out the hill and/or the tracks
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20

Male Wood Elf Domain Cleric/1

And the guide comes to his senses and makes sure the party doesn't make a fatal mistake right from the bat. All by himself.

"While caves are not something to be avoided by default, you must all know a the last group of adventurer's to have entered the cave were all captured by a group of kobolds and ransomed for a hefty amount of gold. An amount no one I know is going to pay for me at the moment."

Monster Master:

Do you mind if I swap a skill rank? From Sense Motive to Knowledge(local)so I can occasionally support any bluffs about what Onnam actually knows about Monster Hill?

Sense Motive seemed like a solid choice (and it is) but Knowledge (local) could be more fun and fits better flavor wise. Up to you of course since we've already started.

Male Wood Elf Domain Cleric/1

This time Onnam only raises a single eyebrow as he's being called a misfit by someone who would be described by most as an actual misfit.

"We wish not to include you for that reason. If you actually possess any skill using those tools that would be a reason for us to consider taking you with us. It's a matter of perspective but I understand your confusion."

Onnam offers the young man a cup with fruit liquor before he continues.

"As what there's in for you. First of all you'll get a chance to please Hades by making sure those deserving a horrible afterlife get there as soon as possible. Second you would ensure a better, if not good, afterlife for yourself by again pleasing the Lord of the Afterlife, who also is responsible for deciding who's rich and poor in life. So that's a double win for you don't you think?. If those aren't good enough reasons there's always our company which I think fits pretty good with anyone."

He smiles in anticipation of a response from the leather-clad young man.

Male Wood Elf Domain Cleric/1

Onnammeram was once more finding his eyebrows raising. He'd seen Roakrak around a few times and briefly spoken with him. He seemed like a straight fellow, no nonsense and quite like Onnammeram himself although still a guard.

"Roakrak, you know I respect you but are you sure? I mean, we could definately profit from having you around..."

Onnammeram is lost in thoughts for a few moments and moves his hand to his holy symbol.

"Well it only makes sense. We've got a well spread bunch of persons. Hades doesn't discriminate though, we're all equal in our chances of achieving a good afterlife and a well guided trip to get there."

Male Wood Elf Domain Cleric/1

Onnammeram raises his eyebrows as if in a slight state of shock. He seems to have messed up a good first impression but is quick to repair any damage done.

"Ah yes of course Zaggle and Honey. You're as much, if not the most special, a sign of Hades' blessing on our excursion to Monster Hill. Will you all accompany me?"

Male Wood Elf Domain Cleric/1

Now who do we have here? Onnammeram thinks as he watches a female of the Catfolk race enter.

"Ranorel and Alexander, surely you see that Hades has big plans for us. What an unusual band of souls we are and look who's destiny crosses ours now?"

Onnammeram takes a slight bow to the Catfolk woman.

"This is the very place and we're the very people who do some gathering right now. I am Onnammeram but you can call me Onnam, I will be happy to guide you and sir Ranorel and Alexander DeMaurt here on a visit to Monster Hill."

"I was just telling sir Ranorel and Alexander DeMaurt here about recent successes and failures previous expeditions to Monster Hill. It's truly a test in life, one that can bring you rewards beyond imagination, both in physical form as well in more elevated form."

Male Wood Elf Domain Cleric/1

"Ranorel, sir, that might be a very wise decision. On my guidance: I am a guide to Monster Hill and beyond. But more importantly I am a guide in life and beyond. While life is short, the afterlife in which Hades will receive us, is endless. Our decisions in life affect the afterlife. These decisions aren't always obvious. That's where I come in as a guide of Hades I can help you on the right path to a good afterlife."

Onnammeram takes a sip from the other mug with Green Water and then shifts his attention to Zaggle.

"I am pleased to meet you Zaggle, and Honey too of course. If you're interested you can join me and anyone else wishing to come, on a trip to Monster Hill. It will be worth your time. There's plenty of riches to be gained, a lot of skill to be tested and Hades will certainly approve of a successful tour through Monster Hill. What do you say?"

Male Wood Elf Domain Cleric/1

"A brave soul you are. Hades will be more than happy to receive when your time has come, be that now or later."

With admiration and a slightly surprised look Onnammeram watches Ranorel as he swallows his drink.

Male Wood Elf Domain Cleric/1

Onnammeran sat down in the Green Dragon Inn and took a moment to watch the clientele. There seemed to be plenty of folks of the adventuring type. Surely he could find a few of them to head into Monster Hill with him. He raised his eyebrows as a magical creature, a djinni?, entered the inn following a Halfling. To his surprise the djinni disappeared after a fellow Wood Elf talked to them.

Onnameram stood up, ordered a few different drinks and headed to the Halfling and the Wood Elf.

"Well hello there! My name is Onnammeram the Guide, but you can call me Onnam. You look like you could use a drink, here, have some."

Onnameram poses the drinks in front of them and points out what's what.

"This is ordinary ale, certainly not the best I ever had. This here is a liquor of different fruits, quite good I must say. These two mugs contain Green Water, a drink for those who do not wish to be inabriated, not bad at all. And this one is the surpise drink, you never know what they give you, sometimes it's great, sometimes it's awful and occasionaly people wake up two weeks later after finishing it."
