![]() I wouldn't be annoyed over the "weak but attractive females, strong and brawny men" if it wasn't yet another example of nonhuman species attractiveness being inexplicably compatible with human beauty standards. They're aliens for gods' sake. Why do they need to be constrained by the 'muscles and boobs' limitation that every other non-animal-based species appears to be constrained by? With females being barely-clothed nubile space babes and males being hairy gruff beast-men, even the emphasis on their value on mental qualities feels like just a bandaid on the gaping wound that is the history of 'alien' women being portrayed solely as the idealized fruit of sexual conquest and 'alien' men as ugly brutes unworthy as rivals for female attraction. Such tropes of pandering to male-centric fanservice and sexual conquest should not be used in any seriousness in the works today, even as a reference to olden days. If neither sex of the Lashunta were at all humanoid, especially attractive humanoid, I doubt we would even be having this conversation. ![]()
![]() So I was looking around and found the feat
Quote:
I'm not sure what the 'secret sharer' SLA is (maybe a typo?) but the purpose of this feat seems to imply that the familiar using its change shape ability is for all intents and purposes visually indistinguishable from the master in the eyes of a scryer. ![]()
![]() I'm playing a Kitsune with a familiar with the Decoy Archetype, which has the ability Quote:
As a kitsune, I have my anthropomorphic fox form, my static appearance Human form, and I've taken Fox Shape for a static fox form and Realistic Likeness that allows me to 'steal' the face of any specific individual when I use my racial change shape ability. How do these various forms apply to my familiar's Master's Guise ability? Can I choose which of my forms it takes, or is it just whatever I look like at the time.
And lastly, Alter Self doesn't say anything about creating clothes as part of the package. My familiar's not going to end up flashing everyone whenever she transforms, is she? ![]()

![]() Can an Arcanist teach a spell she observes into a Ring of Spell Knowledge, then scribe the spell into her spellbook? Since for an arcanist, effects that modify Spells Known instead affect Spells Prepared, so any spell in the Ring should be treated as one she has prepared.
Can it then be used to effectively scribe spells from scrolls and still keep the scroll? ![]()

I'm sorry, but that sounds like a terrible way to role-play. What kind of person would be so pathetic and expectant of dying that they would groom a sibling into becoming their backup in life? I'd imagine from a fluff standpoint low Con would correspond to anemia and illness, not cowardice and spinelessness. But as it stands, my character is currently built of graham crackers and tissue paper. How can I improve her were I allowed a partial rebuild without losing out even more to the other dhampir due to MAD? He's already overshadowed me in the healing, casting, skills, and combat effectiveness domains. I'm not terribly sure what's left. ![]()
![]() It's not Call of Cthulhu or Eternal Darkness, and I'd rather not make throwaway characters. What's the point of putting time and effort into backstory and roleplaying when all it's good for is an overly-elaborate epitaph?
![]()
![]() So, what do I do now? The DM has been notified of my misgivings, but the chance for a rebuild is probably slim. At any rate, he'll probably have a reply in the morning. Until then, could you help me rebuild my character? 20 point buy, and I kinda want to keep the character as a dhampir, since it's been mentioned in passing in-game. I guess I'm alright with Lady Caedis dying; it's not as if it's foreign to me. Either the game doesn't survive, or my character doesn't. ![]()
![]() I'm not intending on fully switching over to melee, just maybe taking a few AOOs after I run over with a buff or a spell. Unfortunately, the game has already begun, so my stats are locked. Edit: Forgot to add, the channeling is mainly for damaging and turning undead. I hear that Carrion Crown's pretty good on giving out healing items. ![]()
![]() I'm currently playing a 1st level TN Dhampir Cleric (Luck and Souls Domains) in a TN party for Carrion Crown. The party is currently made up of a Grave Warder Slayer, a Rogue, a Summoner, a Dhampir Blackblooded Oracle (Bones) and me, focusing on support. Question 1: Should I skim Reach Cleric to keep enemies away from me without losing casting ability, or do we have enough melee characters to make it unnecessary?
My current stats are
Feats:
Just skimming over the SRD, I feel that maybe Magus(Kensai?) or Ranger seems promising, but I've never played a multiclass character before so I'd like some help. |
