I didn't know the best place to post this, so feel free to move where appropriate. Thx.

Big, BIG news in our industry folks! It was just announced at the North Texas RPG Conventions, Frog God Games (makers of Swords & Wizardry Complete, Slumbering Tsar, Rappan Athuk Reloaded, etc.) have purchased old NECROMANCER GAMES! That is so awesome. Just think of all of the great material from the d20 days that could be back in print, and for Pathfinder and classic gaming!

Many Necromancer Games titles deserve to see the light of day once again, this time for classic RPGing in my opinion.

At least the conversion back to classic RPGs (well, Swords & Wizardry Complete) would be pretty easy to do. For PF, it might take a while. Not sure what the overall plan is for Frog God Games

Totally stoked!

FROG GOD GAMES ACQUIRES NECROMANCER GAMES

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Dallas, TX, (June 7th 2012) – FROG GOD GAMES, the makers of roleplaying games and books, today announced that they are acquiring Necromancer Games, the award-winning publishing house known for Necropolis, Rappan Athuk, City of Brass, Tomb of Abysthor, Crucible of Freya, Tome of Horrors, and many other famous titles.

The purchase of Necromancer Games considerably increases Frog God Games’ influence in the tabletop gaming industry. “The merging of the companies made sense,” said Bill Webb, CEO of Frog God Games. “As primary developer of the Necromancer line of products, I created Frog God Games with the same aesthetics and design principles in mind. We are all about capturing that hard-edged Retro feel in both our Pathfinder Roleplaying Games and our Swords & Wizardry product lines.” The acquisition will provide Frog God Games with the use of Necromancer Games extensive intellectual property, allowing re-imagination and expansion of existing work, as well as new products under both labels. Frog God Games will maintain a separate product line of Necromancer Games products, which so far has included the Tome of Horrors Complete and will soon include Rappan Athuk.

Frog God Games will re-animate several of Necromancer Games’ products in the future to provide its customers with revised and expanded products for a variety of tabletop editions. “The integration of both companies will take place over the next few months. Our customers will continue to receive the same high quality books which they have come to expect” stated Webb.

Necromancer Games, which will continue to operate under that name, is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Frog God Games. The company has not published new material since 2007, although it produced nearly 100 titles from 1999-2007. The Company’s other founder, Clark Peterson will remain involved in an advisory capacity, and will continue to contribute to the company’s success.

Its products are known for their grand adventure settings and high quality production values. “If our hardcovers won’t last you a lifetime of use, we have not made a high enough quality product”, said Webb. Frog God Games currently serves over 2500 customers in USA, Canada, Brazil, Europe, South America, China, Japan, Australia and New Zealand, and has produced over 70 books for Pathfinder Roleplaying Games and Swords & Wizardry in the past two years. Glad to see that Bill Webb actually put that post up. It's a little bit of light under the shroud that Slumbering Tsar seems to have been in for so long now.

That being said, in whichever form Slumbering Tsar is released in, I'll be sad not to see it in a box set form like RARe, WOHF or COB. Those box sets were litterally, some of the best adventure material ever to be produced for this hobby we so love. And then, even though I'm in love with ST and haven't even read it yet, a little part of me worries what it will look like when transplanted to Pathfinder or the Golarian setting (which is an assumption that is probable I think).

But, any news is good news... right?

Man, if Necromancer were to get back into the game with Pathfinder, that would be rediculously awesome. Some of NGs past, spectacular products (City of Brass, Rappan Athuk Reloaded, Cruicble of Freya, Tomb of Abysthor, Bard's Gate, and the ToH series) would be worth seeing again. Though I think that thier best interest lies in new product... like >>SLUMBERING TSAR<<!!!

For the love of all things holy (and because this is Necormancer Games) and unholy, PLEASE release the Slumnbering Tsar series! We have only been waiting for 2+ years already. Sheesh. However, if Slumbering does go over to Pathfinder, I know a lot of people who will switch over (to Pathfinder) for sure!

Just got done reading AOW OVERLOAD, very nice overall. Not trying to kiss butts, buuuut this is the kind of support that such a grand campaign needs, and anothe reason why I'm a Dungeon subscriber. Keep up the good work guys, your work and dedication is much appreciated!

C&C is a great game. While I still extensivly play v3.5, Castles & Crusades is a great way to qucikly get newbies into fantasy RPGing. The BEST aspect of C&C (IMO) is the fact that you don't neccessarily have to be a newbie to enjoy this game. While the rules are fairly "lite" and extrememly similar to OAD&D, C&C carries all of the modern convieniences of d20 gaming. Simply put, Castles & Crusades is the modern version of old-school D&D.

As presented C&C is a great system by itself. Inventive DMs can easily add additional depth to the system without imbalancing the game. If you are a DM (or in the case of C&C, a "CK") who likes tinkering with rules, this is your game! If you hate tinkering, C&C is your game!

Another great (and I mean spectacular) aspect of C&C is DM prep time. C&C IS THE GAME FOR DMs who are short on prep time. The mechanics are easy to understand, and creating encounters, traps, and the like are super-streamlined, without having to reference the entire 3.5 line of books.

Castles & Crusades is simple, and elegant with the best aspects of modern D&D gaming, while remaining very true to the game that originally inspired us all.

I'm a big fan of the Maps of Mystery feature. I have used many of them. Personally I like the maps with no description, or very, very little. It is a great 1 page feature.

I had forgot the artist's name when I took the survey, but I did want to say that my favorite artist that Dungeon has used recently has got to be Ramon Perez! His stuff has just gotten better and better over the years.

Personally I got nothing from the article myself. I understand that W Wheaton wrote that article well before it was used in Dungeon Mag, but if the rest of them are going to be like that, it provides little use or interest for me. Otherwise I am indifferent.
