I'd bet that "sitting" is not the operative word at Necro ATM. I'd bet it is more something like "working their tails off to get something smashing by GenCon."

And I'm excited to see what that will be. Probably a dungeon filled with monsters and traps but, as a Necro product, a *cool* dungeon filled with monsters and traps.

Vic, I think, said that something by GenCon for the 3PPs would be very unlikely. Although, of course, it would be cool (if it were up to Necromancer's normal standards, etc, etc).

Well, considering its more of a hobby rather than a business, as he did say he has a lucrative job, no I really dont believe them.

Its different when frankly, your butt in on the line, rather than what it appears to be more like a side project.

Even if their butt were on the line, they couldn't bring stuff out for Pathfinder, unless it was designed for the Beta and released under the OGL. No real longevity in that.

Still, it'd be cool of Clark posted to reiterate his determination and maybe expound a little on his plans.

That was Lisa, not me. The license should be out this month, and we still plan to make the finished rules available to interested professional publishers well before Gen Con, but we can't speak for how quickly they can turn things around. I think somebody who works fast could probably work up a small product or two by Gen Con, but developing something entirely new and huge is likely to take too much time, unless they've already started based on the Beta rules, which would be a risky proposition.

Oooh.

Allow me to mention Bagpuss Roleplaying Games Ltd, a recently-formed paper company.

If the first Necromancer PFRPG product to come out is a completely new work with 0% recycled material, I'll be surprised.

I'm hoping that it'll be either Tegel Manor or Winter's Tomb. If these are already written, then chnanging the crunch from 4E to PFRPG shouldn't be that bad.

Well, it is definitely more of a part time job for them, but they certainly are not liars. They are waiting for the reasons they have stated. IF you chose not to believe them, that is your choice, but they are not liars. They have been very open and honest with those of us who go to their message boards, and in their posts on ENWorld. They have never lied. They have been wrong in estimated release times and opinions, but they have never lied.

And nor have I called them liars, nor that they lied. I just dont really believe them. There's quite a difference. Please dont put words in my mouth.

Seeing is believing.

Sorry, but my understanding of "believing" is if you do not believe something someone says then you think what they say is not true, which is also called a lie. So I am not putting words into your mouth, you apparently just used the wrong words.

I guess "doubtful" would be better? Your doubtful that they will do it?

Saying that someone's prediction is hard to believe is a far cry from calling someone a liar.

The difference between a lie and an untruth or falsehood being intention.

But you are putting words and meaning in my mouth. YOU conject not believing they'll do it until I see it as a lie. Where as I'll wait for actions before believing.

No, doubtful isnt the right word. I odnt believe them, as it comes from the thought "seeing is believing".

Words are always easy. Actions usually prove otherwise. We'll see.

Let me give you an example, to perhaps illustrate my meaning:

Nerco wants to put out 4e products. Thats another, I'll believe it when I see it. Do I think their lying about wanting to put it out? No. Are their other circumstances that lead me to believe that despite how much they want to put it out, they cant/wont at the moment? Yes.

So in essence, I'll believe it when I actually see it out.

Man, if Necromancer were to get back into the game with Pathfinder, that would be rediculously awesome. Some of NGs past, spectacular products (City of Brass, Rappan Athuk Reloaded, Cruicble of Freya, Tomb of Abysthor, Bard's Gate, and the ToH series) would be worth seeing again. Though I think that thier best interest lies in new product... like >>SLUMBERING TSAR<<!!!

One hundred percent!!!

Scarab Sages

PFRPG Tome of Horrors in Print would be item #1 on my list.

Since I own stuff like Rappan Athuk, Bard's Gate, Crucible, City of Brass etc, I don't really need any PF reprint. New 1st ed modules would be great though.

Grand Lodge

ToH update would be awesome.

Love some adventures too.

Here's hoping.

OK, time for the resident wolf man pain in the tail to give his dastardly opinion. First off this is great news since I like the tweaks they made in the PFRPG. What would I like to see get revised to the new rules?

Tome of Horrors (all 3 providing they cross reference with the Bestiary coming out soon to make sure the same monsters are not in both books)

Grimtooth ('Nuff said)

Glades of Death and Dead Man's Chest

Book of Taverns

Bard's Gate

Stuff from the Sword and Sorcery line including the critter books and the magic books (I was a contributor to Relics and Rituals 2 and would love to see the spells I sent in and got printed redone for Pathfinder) as well as the class books and adapt the Carnival to Golarion. Especially the Carnival of Shadows; that was simply too good and nasty a concept to be consigned to the dustbin of gamer history.

I agree. This thread started, promising, in January. What have we heard in all this time? At some point I will cut off my nose to spite my face, if you get what I'm saying NG.

Heh, Rappan Athuk Re-reloaded. BenS is right about the copies on eBay. Last time I saw one, the bidding was up to 135 pounds. If the 3.5 version is going to cost me nearly $220 plus shipping, I'll just take the time and convert my 3.0 version myself.

I'd be happy with more cool adventures and maybe non-world specific products that could be used in any game. (I'm a big fan of Grimtooth's Traps, myself.)

Grimtooth is a great book, and I'm glad I picked one up.

But how does that need to be converted to Pathfinder? Change all instances of "Search DC" to "Perception DC"...? That hardly seems like a major need for conversion.

I don't think there's much point in announcing the PFRPG Tome of Horrors until the PFRPG (core) Bestiary is out.

Actually, the original Tome of Horrors was released before the 3.0 MM was out. :)

You are thinking of the Sword & Sorcery book "Creature Collection".

Tome of Horrors didn't arrive until a year or so later, I believe.

But either way, I hope Necro gives us news soon.

I suspect you're thinking of Creature Collection. Tome of Horrors took a bit longer to arrive.

I wasn't saying that I'd like to see that particular product converted, just that it would be the type of thing I'd like to see from Necromancer in the future as far as Pathfinder products go.

Liberty's Edge

The Tome of Horrors is finally out. :) I got the pdf for Pathfinder and it looks great!

Frog God Games

Well, I hope that everyone is happy with the results from both Frog God and Legendary Games!

I'd like to thank (Qstor) Mike for resurrecting this thread. It was an interesting blast from the past and recalled to me just how I learned about the Slumbering Tsar in the first place.

I recall numerous times going to the Necromancer website back in the day to discover that it wasn't being updated. I was despondant until I discovered this thread and read about the Slumbering Tsar and the comments of others who so appreciated the "1st edition feel" that Necromancer provided. It gave me hope that Necromancer would not vanish the way the other 3rd party companies were, since others wanted this as badly as I did.

Then, when Bill Webb and Greg Vaughan decided to start up a new company, Frog God Games, to get the Slumbering Tsar released under the new Pathfinder system I was ecstatic. The rest is history.
