Right, so what you are saying is, 'guilt by association' - because Olaf was human, and the 'Halfhand' is human, Olaf was inherently untrustworthy ;-)

Please note that I am just teasing the paladin; there are no 'sour grapes' / malice involved here :-)

With that said, Hilde did not like Olaf.

You speciest, you ;-)

We will just ignore Cearb dipping his hat in blood, and Bastagar murdering innocent captives :-P

I realise that both happened without Hilde being present ;-)

P.S. In case it was not clear, I am just bantering :-)

I understand the desire to loot absolutely everything, but could you at least leave Olaf his axe when the pyre is done?

I warrior should not go to the afterlife without a weapon to defend himself ;-)

Male Human(Ulfen) Bard(Savage Skald) 2

Olaf's body waits patiently, blood seeping from his wounds to stain the snow pink in an ever-widening halo.

Male Human(Ulfen) Bard(Savage Skald) 2

Ah, well. Good luck, guys :-)

Male Human(Ulfen) Bard(Savage Skald) 2

Worth a shot :-/

Male Human(Ulfen) Bard(Savage Skald) 2

Well, he *may* not be quite dead; his pig iron clasp may yet save him.

That said, we knew this was going to be a dangerous campaign :-/

Male Human(Ulfen) Bard(Savage Skald) 2

Olaf would like to invoke his 'pig iron clasp' (one of the things that was in his grab-bag) to force that confirmation check to be re-rolled. There is only a slim chance of this working, but at least it is better than a guaranteed death ;-)

Male Human(Ulfen) Bard(Savage Skald) 2

Olaf belts out an Ulfen battle cry, and, holding his axe tightly, attempts to hew away at the Trow, as if it were a tree...

MW Cold Iron Greataxe: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 6 + 2 = 17, for 1d12 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8 Cold Iron Slashing damage.

Male Human(Ulfen) Bard(Savage Skald) 2

Does that mean I can claim a flank with Hilde, then? :-)

Male Human(Ulfen) Bard(Savage Skald) 2

Round 9:

Groaning, Olaf stands up, and moves adjacent to the troll, ready to slam his axe into it.

Moving to O9.

Male Human(Ulfen) Bard(Savage Skald) 2

@Hilde: Whilst I realize that it does not matter much, the way this thing is rolling, you actually only lose a hit point from taking a standard action whilst staggered if that standard action *doesn't* heal you above zero, so Hilde is actually one hit point higher than she thinks she is :-)

Male Human(Ulfen) Bard(Savage Skald) 2

Will: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8.
Will: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10.

Overwhelmed, Olaf falls to the ground, insensate.

I'll get back to you once the combat is over ;-)

Male Human(Ulfen) Bard(Savage Skald) 2

Just don't take it out on the poor, frail Fey ;-)

Male Human(Ulfen) Bard(Savage Skald) 2

Olaf continues to patiently slog forward.

Moving to Q11.

Male Human(Ulfen) Bard(Savage Skald) 2

Olaf looks askance at Kelgar.

"Do not joke about witches!"

Male Human(Ulfen) Bard(Savage Skald) 2

*Puts VL hat on*

Unfortunately, all of the magic item crafting feats are banned in PFS (with the limited exception that PCs with a 'bonded item' instead of a familiar can upgrade it as if they had the relevant crafting feats), so I am afraid golem crafting is not possible in PFS :-/

(If you look on the Additional Resources page, under the heading for the Bestiary (in which the 'Craft Construct' feat is present), you will see that none of the feats there are legal, unless specifically opened by another source [to date, the only one I am aware of is that some of the monster feats are available for animal companions].)

Even if you somehow acquired a golem, though, like a undead, it would cease to exist at the end of the module :-/

*takes VL hat off*

Male Human(Ulfen) Bard(Savage Skald) 2

Olaf stoically hustles forward, his legs sinking deep into the snow.

Double move to T12.

Male Human(Ulfen) Bard(Savage Skald) 2

Well, from a RAW perspective, one is a trait bonus, and the other is a shield bonus, so they should stack.

Final call is up to VoV, though ;-)

Male Human(Ulfen) Bard(Savage Skald) 2

With a nod to Kelgar, Olaf carefully picks his way forward.

Stealth: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16.

Heh. Looks like I 'took 10' :-P

Male Human(Ulfen) Bard(Savage Skald) 2

Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8.

Olaf continues trudging forward. What's the worst that could happen? ;-)

Male Human(Ulfen) Bard(Savage Skald) 2

With all foes defeated, Olaf wipes the edge of his axe clean, and then continues up the trail.

Male Human(Ulfen) Bard(Savage Skald) 2

Fair enough, I won't complain about that :-)

Olaf is momentarily surprised when Bastagar electrocutes the mephit, but recovers quickly, and takes a swing...

MW Cold Iron Greataxe: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 6 + 2 = 25 for 1d12 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15 Cold Iron Slashing damage.

Male Human(Ulfen) Bard(Savage Skald) 2

Not that I am complaining, but did I really beat its CMD with a 7...?

Male Human(Ulfen) Bard(Savage Skald) 2

Fair enough :-)

As far as I can tell, moving to flank with Kelgar will provoke...

Round 3:

Satisfied that one foe is down, Olaf attempts to tumble in to a flanking position, and takes a swing at the mephit...

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7.

MW Cold Iron Greataxe: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 6 + 2 = 22, for 1d12 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14 Cold Iron Slashing damage.

Male Human(Ulfen) Bard(Savage Skald) 2

I know Hilde is busy this week, so should we wait, or keep moving?

Male Human(Ulfen) Bard(Savage Skald) 2

His hair blowing around his face, Olaf swings mightily at the column of air!

MW Cold Iron Greataxe: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19, for 1d12 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14 Cold Iron Slashing damage.

Male Human(Ulfen) Bard(Savage Skald) 2

Round 1:

Olaf steps up, and delivers a vicious swing!

MW Cold Iron Greataxe: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26, for 1d12 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18 Cold Iron Slashing damage.

*sigh* I am assuming that it is *probably* an elemental, and therefore is immune to crits...?

Male Human(Ulfen) Bard(Savage Skald) 2

Surprise Round:

With a roar, Olaf rushes forward, ready to introduce the 'invisible' creature to his axe...

Moving to I5.

Male Human(Ulfen) Bard(Savage Skald) 2

Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20.

I totally made the DC 34 ;-)

"Beware! A being, the body of which is made from air itself, stands 10' off the path, 20' ahead!"

Olaf then hustles forward, ready to swing his axe...

Although I imagine initiative may be about to be triggered ;-)

Male Human(Ulfen) Bard(Savage Skald) 2

Knowledge(Nature) 'take 10' = 15

Olaf regards the tracks thoughtfully.

"Hmmm... I think those were made by an oversize mammal like a stoat... or a weasel. We should probably keep a weather-eye-out."

Male Human(Ulfen) Bard(Savage Skald) 2

Provided that it is possible to move *around* the arcane sigil without triggering it :-)

Male Human(Ulfen) Bard(Savage Skald) 2

Knowledge(Arcana): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15.

Feel free to tell me if I am out of line, but, using player knowledge to give info for that roll...

"The Witches use dolls like these to 'protect' their borders. They are usually made by binding the soul of a child into a gem inside the body of a construct, using the innocent's soul as a motive force. Smashing the gem releases the soul.

Whilst it is possible that a witch could bind the soul of another witch into such a construct, it would only be used as a terrible form of punishment, so I think it more likely it is 'merely' the soul of a child."

Male Human(Ulfen) Bard(Savage Skald) 2

Olaf frowns.

"It is the soul of a child, not a witch! I do not doubt, though, that a Witch created it."

Male Human(Ulfen) Bard(Savage Skald) 2

Olaf frowns.

"If her soul is being held in torment, prevented from going to its rightful rest, the stone must be destroyed, in order to grant her peace."

He then limbers-up his axe, and prepares to destroy the stone...

Unless someone else stops him...?

Male Human(Ulfen) Bard(Savage Skald) 2

Heh. No, a Palantir is not what I was shooting for ;-)

Male Human(Ulfen) Bard(Savage Skald) 2

@DM - VoV: Any chance Halfhand or Olaf would know know what that gem *truly* represents?

Male Human(Ulfen) Bard(Savage Skald) 2

Hmmm... There's a question: Since it is a full-round action to attempt the reflex save to put out the flames from one vial of alchemist's fire, can it even *try* to put out the second vial?

Hmmm... witch-crafted doll burning on a 'pyre'...

Olaf continues to fire arrows at the doll!

Shortbow: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10, for 1d6 ⇒ 6 Piercing damage.

Male Human(Ulfen) Bard(Savage Skald) 2

Olaf gives the floating doll a calculating look.

"Definitely Witch magic."

He then draws his bow, and fires at the construct.

Shortbow: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13, for 1d6 ⇒ 1 Piercing damage.

Male Human(Ulfen) Bard(Savage Skald) 2

Heh. This isn't a trap, if it is what it looks like :-P

De-rail: I was in a Council of Thieves game at one point, where the Paladin *was* the trap-springer - whenever we actually found a trap, he had to take his armor off to disable it!

Male Human(Ulfen) Bard(Savage Skald) 2

Olaf tightens his grip around the haft of an axe.

"The icy tendrils of the Winter Witches' power have extended into the forest; why would one of their border guardians not be here?"

His frown deepens as he considers the interactions with the figment, and Bastagar's antics.

"Given what we have seen here, I would not be surprised if the child's soul was bound in that doll... I would see it destroyed!"

Male Human(Ulfen) Bard(Savage Skald) 2

Out of character, I have a fair idea what this is, as I have GM'ed a PFS scenario with something similar, but IC, I am not sure how much I would know...

"You don't find it odd that there is a doll's house, with a doll, in the middle of nowhere?"

Male Human(Ulfen) Bard(Savage Skald) 2

Olaf's expression hardens.

"If there is a witch on this side of the border, she needs to die."

Male Human(Ulfen) Bard(Savage Skald) 2

Olaf frowns, and then shrugs.

Will: 1d20 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 1 + 4 = 21.

"If it were truly a trick, then it would behoove the prankster to change their game when the trick was discovered. I cannot shake the feeling that there is more to it than that... Perhaps we can learn something..."

When he lays eyes on the 'girl' again, and hears her words, he speaks tenderly.

"I am sure that you do. Who is keeping 'you' here?"

Male Human(Ulfen) Bard(Savage Skald) 2

Olaf nods to Halfhand.

"Agreed - those creatures were not native to the forest; they came from a place where the winter is ever-present... more foul spawn of Irrisen!"

When the child subsequently jumps out from behind a boulder, Olaf is momentarily startled, before relaxing slightly.

Will: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14.

So close!

Olaf frowns, and then gently replies to the child:

"Lass, we mean you no harm; what are you doing out here in the middle of the forest?"

Male Human(Ulfen) Bard(Savage Skald) 2

That seems about right for Halfhand ;-)

Ignoring the explosion of frost, Olaf charges towards the tree menacing Caerb, attempting to chop it as if he were making firewood!

Charge to D12.

MW Cold Iron Greataxe: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 6 + 2 = 16, for 1d12 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18 Cold Iron Slashing damage.

Male Human(Ulfen) Bard(Savage Skald) 2

Olaf steps up alongside Hilde, and takes a swing at the charging skeleton, hoping to take advantage of its foolish charge by attempting to cleave its pelvis in twain!

MW Cold Iron Greataxe: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14, for 1d12 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14 Cold Iron Slashing damage.

Reflex: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24.

Male Human(Ulfen) Bard(Savage Skald) 2

Olaf stands ready, axe in hand, waiting to see if there are more Draugr in the area...

Male Human(Ulfen) Bard(Savage Skald) 2

"Looks like easy prey, though... We should be careful, nonetheless; there might be more of them."

Male Human(Ulfen) Bard(Savage Skald) 2

Sounds reasonable to me.
