Strangely enough I am looking at this thread because I play a Druid who occasionally rides a Huge T-Rex, given the saddle requirements and such, and assuming the necessary gear is sized and cost adjusted for this circumstance. And the idea of medium creatures on the ground using touch attacks against me (which very nearly killed the druid last game) is absurd. Of course I had this same discussion regarding the fact that a Paladin and his mount could both attack a creature flying directly over the Paladin's head because they 'share space'. So at the risk of becoming a rules lawyer, can we PLEASE get an errata or an addition or something that states that attacking to or from a riding position on a mount larger than medium and more than one size category larger than the rider requires the attacker to have 5' of additional reach per size category? (I realize this isnt the perfect wording, but you get the idea).

So, I'm not sure why this is a huge issue, unless I'm somehow missing a bunch of really cool chronicle only things... Because really, almost every item on the chronicle sheets I've got either through GM'ing or playing amounted to stuff I could buy at worst within a level or two of the chronicle through fame anyway. And as for boons, I don't think I've ever had a spot where I said "dang that one boon would have saved the day here!" I know of a mere handful of rewards that are somehow unique. Therefore while I don't particularly want to see my players trivialize a scenario I've run through pre-knowledge of the scenario, I see very little reason to hide what's on a chronicle sheet, and when I GM I will actively recommend character choices if I know someone might really like whats coming up.

And if we are so worried about party balance because of metagaming, on scenarios why require someone to use an in-tier character instead of a pre-gen if they want? So often I see classes poorly matched for a scenario sitting in their seats half-asleep because they aren't engaged by the dynamic of the scenario and couldn't swap to a more appropriate class.

From the APG "Communing with [her patron], using her familiar as a conduit, the witch gains not only a host of spells but a number of strange abilities known as hexes." In addition, also from the APG, all of the hexes are listed as supernatural abilities i.e. Fortune(Su), Blight(Su), etc...

The bestiary says "The following feats apply specifically to monsters although some PC's may qualify for them." - in other words it allows PC's to use the feats they qualify for, while noting that many of the abilities will be more monster accessible/useful.

In the bestiary creature listings Ability Focus is coupled with a variety of supernatural abilities like Charming Gaze(Su), Roar(Su), Confusion(Su), and Rust(Su) which are similar in usage to hexes - standard actions which do not provoke attacks of opportunity.

So, I would rule that clearly Ability Focus was meant for use with supernatural abilities but that each Hex is a separate ability (each hex tracks its use against each enemy separately).

Outside of the primary vein of this thread, I think the main issue with Hexes for GM's are things like Slumber's lack of hit die restriction. The trick is have your bad guys wake each other up. Then the hex is used up and combat can move on.

One Important Caveat: In society play - Feats from the Bestiary are NOT legal for PC's, familiar's, or animal companions unless specifically granted by another legal source.

So, some things I'm trying to sort out with the Goliath Druid.

1. At level 4 I've gotten wild shape. The modified version of Wild Shape allows only megafauna and dinosaur forms, however there are almost none which are small or medium. Is this an oversight or intent? Seems seriously gimped by only having 3 shapes to choose from (until level 6), or as posed in my 2nd question do I actually have access to smilodons and such as they are typically classified as 'pre-historic'.

2. Does 'dinosaur' include the pterosaurs and icthyosaurs? What about the -dons? Smilodon, Mastodon, etc..?

3. If, at level 4, I use Enlarge Person and then Wild Shape, do I then use the medium shape, but gain the enlarge person size bonuses until it wears off? Or can I access a larger shape but then take penalties when enlarge person wears off (as though I was subject to reduce person)?

So, I was looking at my build options as an elf Goliath druid.

For Reference (Goliath Druid was in the January 2015 Giant Hunter's book)

Level 1 I took Weapon finesse adding my elven dex bonus for a nice +5 attack right off the bat.

For level 3 I was looking at Piranha Strike (power strike for light weaps) which also carries over into the natural weapons. Also on the table is things like spell focus conj. for the augment summoning later. I wont need natural spell (since goliath druids wild shape allows giant types at lvl 6)

I can grab any of the Organized play legal handbooks if something is a must have for this build, so, suggestions?
