I'm sorry that it fizzled like this.

Goblin problem solved. I wish.

Feels a sudden surge of energy as the raw power of magic fills him to the brim! With the strength of a god he throws his hands out and smites his enemies!

Meteor Swarm!
32d6 + 10 ⇒ (3, 1, 4, 4, 5, 6, 1, 5, 6, 4, 3, 6, 5, 4, 6, 1, 2, 6, 1, 2, 4, 3, 3, 1, 1, 3, 6, 4, 5, 5, 2, 4) + 10 = 126

Blah.

Paizo dice roller hates me.

"Bring it on troll dung!" Nolin yells back in goblin, making a rude gesture with his middle finger while at the same time lanching another bolt of energy.

Energy Bolt
1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Then my apologies, was just trying to be honest, not insulting.

LETS ROCK IT!

On a side note, you know you love my damage. Love it!

You've been a good GM. You've explained the rooms well, presented solvable scenarios and done a good job portraying the villains. We haven't even gone beyond the very first fight, no exp rewarded, no loot found so I don't think it's the pace of the game.

I think the only problem might be the concept of the dungeon. Story wise it's just a big ass cave system. No legends, no possible motherlode of gold or mithril or gems, no resting place of epic monsters. It's just sort of there.

Please ignore above post. It was written based on missing knowledge which has been corrected. Accordingly, said actions taken above never happened.

Gripping his staff and feeling the instant connection he had with it, Nolin grinned fiercly and stepped out into the tunnel behind the group. He pointed a finger at the nearest goblin, gathering the latent energy in his body and channeling it through his finger. "Shazam!" he said, sending a bolt of green energy out.

1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Damnit I completely missed your post to me. Altering actions accordingly.

No I don't remember reading anything about finding my staff. Let me look back to see if I can find it and I may have to adjust the past couple of posts if I do. Is that alright? Yes, if the staff is found he would be right behind them throwing spells.

Nolin crawls down through the hole on the other side of the hall, praying to whatever god was listening that there was nothing on the other side that would kill him. His irritation was also rising at the fact that he couldn't cast a simple light spell! He snarls "Versaja!", concentrating on the stone in his hand.

Casting Light
1d20 + 12 ⇒ (20) + 12 = 32

Since that worked better then I thought...

Grinning as the rock began to shine with a steady pale blue light, Nolin steps into the room and looks around.

So can I go? I thought since you listed me last I had to wait for those two.

GM Kyle:

Spoiler:
Let me know when I enter the next room.

He could hear the battle begin behind him and Nolin desperately hoped that his staff could be found in the next room. If not he would be next to useless to his rescuers against the tide of goblins. He dropped to his kness and began to squeeze through the opening. "Please no monsters, please no monsters."

"I'll come as soon as I find it, I promise!" Nolin calls out, turning around and ducking towards the other entry in the cell room. He scoops a rock of the ground and concentrates, hoping that even without his staff he could get his cantrips off. "Versaja!" he intones.

Casting Light.
1d20 + 12 ⇒ (3) + 12 = 15

Burning hands ftw!

Ok not so sick anymore.

Wrenching his hands to get the remains of the bindings off, Nolin unties his feet and jumps up, wincing as his kness protested at the sudden movement. "I still have all of my spells memorized since I didn't use them, but without my staff it will be exceptionally hard to cast them! Please, have any of you seen a pure white staff, about a full grown man's height?" he calls out at he follows the lightly armored human.

Looking for Staff as he goes.
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

fyi i'm sick as a dog and can barely think so no post for a day or two

Nolin spits a couple of times to get the taste of the rag out of his mouth, his mind darting to a dozen possibilities on his current situation. "Vile creatures? I have no idea. I skipped out of town a few days ago and was spending the night in a farmer's field. Next thing I know I wake up here with a headache and tied up. My staff is gone, my spellbook is gone, they took everything! Um, who are they by the way? Not you I hope. That would be awkward."

Hm, I see your math and meh, I've used this system for 4 years and it's a hell of a lot more fun then d20.

Hmm, while it's not an official rule I think we should make it a house rule. I don't care if you're Elminster, you roll a 1 you botched whatever you are trying to do. And the only reason I'm trying to push this is because I like to add a level of realism to any kind of game I do, regardless of how high fantasy it is or what position I'm in. It's a proven fact that rolling 2d10 yeilds a much higher average of 9-15 rolls then a d20's pure 5% to roll anything. Can we atleast try it so you can see the difference?

Also, a suggestion about rolling skills and attacks and such. When you roll a d20, you have exactly a 5% chance to roll either a 1 or a 20 or anyting in between. When that happens, many times your skill comes to mean absolutely nothing and that takes away from the build of your character. To represent more of a bell curve in rolls and to actually NEED those skills, I would suggest rolling 2d10 instead. You get a larger range of average rolls and critical failures and successes are that much harder (and realistic) to get.

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
2d10 + 5 ⇒ (5, 7) + 5 = 17

Thats just an example of a standard roll. My current gaming group uses it and we find it makes the game much more vibrant then using a standard, pure luck d20. To crit fail you need double 1's and to crit hit you need, for a pure x2 crit, double 0's. If you have a weapon that crits on a 18-20, one of your dice must be a 0 (or in the case of the dice roller system, a 10). What are your thoughts?

Meh, you've got the sheets already. Just please make sure you are using our updated sheets when we level.

Nolin began to squirm even harder when the door opened and he was momentarily blinded by the sudden torchlight. Prepared to fight to the death against his captors, he was quite surprised when another male half-elf stepped into the room. Holding a torch in one hand and a bloodstained dagger in the other, the leather clad figure didn't strike Nolin as one of his captors. One could never be too careful though and he used the extra light to wiggle into a sitting position with his back to the wall, facing the man. "Well come on then, do your worst!" he yelled through the gag.

Instead of coming out like he wanted however, the best it sounded like was "Mffmfmffff mfmmmmffmfmfff!".

Great.

Sorry, keep forgetting to change the little box at the bottom.

Stang, what did you do this time idiot! Nolin thought to himself as the smell of urine and feces assaulted his nose. It was too dark for his sensitive eyes to make out anything and he could feel the coarse fibers of the rope cutting into his wrists and ankles. He tried to not think about what was on the rag stuffed into his mouth as he squirmed around and tried to wiggle his skinny ankles and wrists out of their bindings.

Hey there folks, this be the newly created alias for Shady_Motives. I'll be using this face for this game.
