Nixim smiles broadly as Giavanni compliments him and his reputation.

"Finally! They are starting to see!" he says. "You will go far in this life, my good rogue. Perhaps when this mission is complete we can discuss this in further detail. But for now, we should report back...they will certainly have great rewards for me...for us," the gnome says.

Nixim runs to the next pillar and prepares to cast the same spell on any enemy that comes within range.

If any enemy comes within 25' of me, I'll cast cause fear again (DC 15 Will

Nixim rushes forward and points toward the unwounded halfling foe. He opens a small conduit into the vast, emptiness of space where there is only cold nothingness and directs it into the enemy's heart.

Cause fear, DC 15 Will

Nixim exits the secret tunnel with a gleam in his eye.

"Of course, they are sent to stop me!" he says as he prepares to cast a spell against any that come near him.

Cast cause fear against the first to come into range (DC 15 Will)

Nixim takes the rear as they leave the area.

"Surely this kind of heroic action on my part is the kind of thing that will prepare me to take the Test!" he exclaims.

"More papers," Nixim says, stating the obvious. "Perhaps the mysteries will be revealed therein..." the gnome says as he starts to investigate.

Nixim watches with interest. "This place honors those who failed to attain godhood, but I will surely not. Perhaps we will discovery their secrets," he says as he looks down the passage.

"There's more..." Nixim says and begins to explain their findings in detail. The gnome seems to emphasize his own contributions and fails to mention the others much.

"...and then I said 'Ah ha!" he concludes.

Nixim also tries saying the password, 'Wiffle.' Perhaps if he said it, something might happen.

He looks curiously at the fake names. "How can you tell these are fake?" he asks.

"This sounds like something we could figure out at the Wall of Names!" Nixim says, as if the thought could not have occurred to anyone else.

"I suggest we investigate immediately!"

"I need to get one of those..." Nixim says as he waits to see what the item does.

"Perhaps we should take this back to the Venture Captain or the lodge," Nixim says, unsure what it does.

I actually don't have spellcraft yet...

"This is magical," Nixim says. "But I don't know what it does. Anyone else want to take a look at it?" the gnome says with a sniff.

"There is something magical inside!" Nixim says, his eyes glittering with greed.

"Surely this is the clue we seek! Now, if some of you will take positions at each end of the sarcophagus and lift it, my eyes will behold the treasure!"

Nixim smirks and casts detect magic on the room.

"Let's see what secrets I discover..."

Nixim puts his head in his hands and weeps.

"Please assist us and give us directions," Nixim says. "Someday you will think back on the day you gave Nixim Suneater assistance."

"That is quite a nickname," Nixim says. "But I agree, we need to investigate both the mausoleum and Wall of Names. We can go to the mausoleum first."

Nixim frowns.

"This is a very clever and powerful gnome," he says. As all gnomes are.

"But he is clearly gone," Nixim muses as he begins going through the documents and potions in the northeast room.

"Why did he leave?"

Hey all,

I'll be vacationing with the family Wednesday through Monday for Fall Break in Chicago and surrounding areas.

The itinerary makes it look like I'll have little time to post. Feel free to bot me!

"Thank you for your wisdom," Nixim says to Jan. "You and I will get along splendidly."

Once he opens the door, he sees the gnome.

"Fellow gnome! Excuse the intrusion. I am Nixim Suneater...surely you have heard of me. We have come seeking some information from you. You see, I--we--have discovered a treasure trove of information, and your name was all over it. Perhaps we could discuss this over some tea."

"What a clever gnome," Nixim says, "to have set traps for likely intruders. I worry something may have happened to him, though..."

I'll continue forward and open the first door on the right.

Nixim enters the room and follows Jan. As Vincenza talks about him, he puffs out his chest.

"Who would turn it down, indeed?!" he says with a broad smile. "That is a girl with a good head on her shoulders."

He does seem puzzled that no one has responded.

"Perhaps the gnome isn't here right now..."

I'll keep walking toward, then open, the first door on the right.

Nixim peers into the room, heedless of L.B.'s attempts to enter quietly.

"Fellow gnome! You have the privilege of speaking with Nixim Suneater! We have an issue of some import to discuss with you!"

"This gnome will undoubtedly provide useful information," Nixim says as they make their way toward his house.

I'd say we explore all leads before going back to Dreng, but looks like we already have votes to do otherwise.

Nixim grumbles about having to check in with the babysitter, but doesn't stop the rest from checking in with Dreng.

"A gnome," Nixim says. "This Fimbrik is likely to be exceedingly clever, as all gnomes are. As good a place to start as any."

"Maybe no one has been in here in decades," Nixim speculates. "Except...this thing sneaked in."

He cleans off the tip of his spear and begins looking through the documents.

"Perhaps a treasure trove of some sort?"

Nixim frowns as his spell fails to take effect.

"I have other skills, too!" he says as he slides his longspear toward the strange enemy.

Nixim turns toward the creature and draws on the cold, empty space between the stars. This nothingness envelopes the choker for a moment.

Cause Fear, DC 15 Will

"I should be the first to lay eyes on this magnificent discovery," Nixim says, moving all the way over to the desk.

Nixim eyes the secret corridor suspiciously, but with no small measure of excitement.

"They knew! They knew this whole time this wasn't about a wine delivery! This is a test...a test of whether we would do something menial, but with a chance to do something great? Or did they know at all? Regardless, this is a chance to prove myself!"

The gnome enters the room, longspear at the ready.

Nixim makes his way across the narrow plank without too much trouble.

Nixim smiles matter-of-factly at Jan.

"I would not turn any prayers away. It might be nice if my future compatriots get to know me sooner than later..."

Once across, he begins to look around.

"What do we have here?"

Nixim seems satisfied with the answer about what it takes to be a hero.

"I have those qualities in spades," he says. "Now, I just need a mission to prove it!"

He looks anxiously over at the bar to see if the shift change has occurred.

Nixim listens to the ways Pathfinders have died.

"And what of unlikely heroes? What have been patterns where Pathfinders have proven themselves mighty where no one expected it?"

Nixim responds to Jan with a raised eyebrow, but also a growing smile.

Someone has taken me seriously...finally!

He responds with some apprehension, as if he does not want his most precious things trampled.

"Do you ever think of the space between the stars? The void...the absence of light? That is the place that calls to me...that beacons me to join it..." the gnome responds.

When Yargos asks if he will attempt the trials, he says "After I prove myself...I will attempt the trials. And, of course, pass."

Though Nixim has been sulking at the unimportant task they have been handed, he looks instantly interested in the talk of the Test of the Starstone.

"He is attempting it today?" he asks. "Perhaps after we have satiated our drunken venture captain, there will be time to see it!"

He puffs out his chest. "Someday, I will attempt the test! I am curious to see how this Reinhart performs. Doubtless he will fail, though I will succeed!"

Nixim sits down next to L.B., a deflated look on his face.

"Of all the assignments...surely they could have come up with something better!"

He sulks and doesn't even bother to purchase a drink.

Looks like my Confirmation run on this character was from DM credit. Do you want me to know her, or not?

Seeing he had found a like-minded Pathfinder, Nixim nods solemnly.

"If we are destined for greatness, should they not send us on missions of the greatest import? Those that will test our mettle and increase our skill, at the least?"

The gnome spits in emphasis as they continue walking toward the tavern.

"One day, they will see..."

Nixim's brow knots up in anger as Dreng leaves.

"He gathered us here to retrieve a bottle of wine for him? Surely I merit a much more important mission!" the gnome complains.

"This venture captain will surely receive some bad conduct reviews..."

The gnome continues on for some time as they travel to the tavern.

Nixim scratches his bald head. "This must be a vital package, to be held at this storied location and to demand my attention. Let us retrieve the package and find what it holds."

An eccentric gnome with a bald head appears past his prime. With white mustaches and a long beard, he also sports multiple ear-piercings in each ear. He wears a perpetual scowl.

He pulls his cloak a little tighter.

"Well, this must be an incredibly important mission if they chose me for it. As you likely know, I'm Nixim Suneater."
