You win! Between his drunken state, and prior circumstances, you only needed like a 2 at this point.
Upon hearing the epitaph, the drunken man falls to his knees, dropping his sword, and begins confessing. He blubbers about hitting his wife with the bow, and causing their family to perish. He even confesses to hating the manticore, not for carrying off his wife and son, but for making him look like a coward. The blubbering goes on for several minutes (Feel free to stop him at any point).
The crowd is similarly awed when you begin to speak in Celestial; most of them drop their improvised weapons (but not their torches) and begin prostrating themselves in whatever religion they most closely follow. From the way they are acting, you gather that there is likely another priest or cleric in the nearby town that can speak in the 'tongues,' likely during special services or something similar.
Corian is surprised by this; it's likely given his training that he understood at least some of the words that you spoke. It is Nijena, however, who has the most profound effect upon you. As you begin to glow, her eyes widen and her jaw drops. Then, you see that her eyes begin to glow, an almost unnatural soft blue. You also see a faint image of angelic wings form behind her as her body begins to glow as well. Nijena bows her head at you, then speaks in Celestial herself.

Corian Smither wrote: Corian looks over to the cleric and says to her "You explain to them that Shi' here is friendly, and I'll start maneuvering them away."
He then turns back to Corian and whispers, "Is the manticore around here, or did it leave?"
Sorry, Paizo crashed before I could put out Nijena's response.
"Everyone, please listen for a moment, Nijena shouts. Her words attract the crowd's attention and the talking ceases for a moment.
Pointing to Shi', Nijena continues. "This is our friend, Shi'Vatha. He will not harm you; he is not a manticore. He's on our side.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (17) + 13 = 30
The crowd mumbles for a moment, processing the information. There seems to be a sense of relief from the crowd. That is, until you see someone stumble forward. It is the drunk from the bar. He is carrying a jug in one hand, and a rusty sword in another. Squinting in the poor light, he says, "No, I thing *hic* das' the mandycore. Is even go' the wings!!" He brandishes his sword, ready to yell.
Although Shi' is right on top of the crowd, all of you can see the man stumble forward and wave his sword. What do you guys do?
"That makes little sense to me right now. However, if I have a chance to think about it, then perhaps the anecdote will work itself out. But I believe that I see your point."

Shi'Vatha wrote: Shi'Vatha wags his finger at the cleric. "Be careful, Carrot. If the gods are playing chess, you may be playing checkers. Corian was on his way here to deal with something, it's not your place to say that is not part of what he needs to do. If it isn't, and the gods are playing chess, it will become apparent it isn't something he's meant to do. Beware you don't lead him astray from his path by the simple method of pushing him down the wrong path with the greatest of intentions." The furry eidelon chuffs in amusement. "The road to the demon's plane is paved with good intentions." Nijena looks thoughtful for a moment, thinking before she replies to the 'taur before her. "I can see your point, um, I'm sorry your name again? I'll assume that you answer her with your name to keep this part from stretching out over 3-4 posts. I see your point, Shi'Vatha. When you put it that way, I would not want to be pushed either. I wish to help all of you; my intentions, however, are not to manipulate you into doing certain actions. I would like, however, to help you in any way that I can."
Nijena's smile falters a bit before recovering. "Yes, but Corian? To ignore one's destiny is to ignore one's whole life. Surely, you are not contemplating that, are you?"
Felicity V wrote: Felicity looks around at her companions. Demon God? Please explain. Is it a demon or a god? Why would Corian be the one to oppose such being? "The demon god, Orcus! His followers created the temple city of Tsar to the north. It was placed under siege over a century ago, but now there are rumors that someone, or something, is trying to re-start the city! The visions told me that Corian and his followers, um I mean friends (no offense), are the ones to stop this from happening. Why would the visions lie?"
Selene Shadowvar wrote: Selene raised an eyebrow at Nijena insistance of having a place by their side in the journey. Strange...

She then shrugs. "You never made such a vow to us, nor have we accepted. Nonetheless, as we are effectively hirelings of Corian, it is his decision to allow or bar you from our journey."
You're right, I suppose. It is, after all, his decision on whether to accept his destiny, or not. It's just that I would feel really bad if he denied his destiny, proscribed by the gods themselves!" She seems to be very excited, as if on the verge of some important moment.
Corian, for his part, can't stop staring at her. While her robes do not show any hint of impropriety, one gets the impression that women do not interact with Corian, based on his expressions, very often.
"To banish the Demon God from this realm, of course!"
Feel free to make a knowledge (local) or (religion) check to see who 'crazy lady' is referring to.
"Well of course you have a great destiny! Why else would the goddess grant me her wisdom?"
"Yes, it was a vision, from my goddess, Thyr. She told me that you would need guidance and help, especially in the early days of your destiny."
Felicity V wrote: Carefully watching the excited young woman, Felicity answers, We have ensure Master Corian has remained unharmed to date. The orc patrols are, however, unsettling. I would advise against traveling with us. I could not guarantee your safety. Continuing to smile broadly at Corian, Nijena turns her head towards Felicity and says, "But you don't understand. My visions told me that I must come with you. You'll need a healing hand and guidance as Corian and the rest of you go no your journey. I would be breaking my vow if I didn't do so."
"Oh, I'm so sorry," the lady responds. She starts a deep, throaty laugh, not unlike a bear's stomach as it walks up to the river to look for fish. The sound does not connect with the woman, for as she speaks, it sounds lilting and somewhat high-pitched. "My name is Nijena, and until recently, I was an oracle for the temple of Thyr in Bard's Gate. About a fortnight or so ago, I received a vision, from Thyr himself! I was told to find a magician and scholar, somewhere in or around Fairhill, and to help him and his traveling companions on their journey. And so, here I am, although it took you awhile to get here. Are you alright?"
The woman runs straight past both the guards and Shi'Vatha and straight to Corian. You see a radiant beauty about her, with her reddish-blonde hair, and her almost chiseled features. She wears the simple robes of a cleric, but you can tell that she is wearing something underneath that at least goes up to her neck, overlaying the top of the robe.
"By Thyr's helm! It is so great to finally meet the person from my visions!"
"Master Corian?" You can hear the voice, barely, being carried over the wind. You see someone running up the road towards the guards and you. It's hard to make out her features from this vantage point, but it is clear that someone is trying to get Corian's attention,
If I had to guess, I'd say this campaign was pretty much done. :(
I have to admit, I'm starting to wonder if this game is still a viable one. No response from DM since early Monday morning. I hope that this is still going on.
Well that's altogether helpful :p
Does my action take place before initiative, or on the first round?
Free Action: Focusing on detect magic for 1 more round, sweeping the room in front of me entirely.
Standard Action: Casting shield of faith on Gnawl: +2 AC for 1 minute.
Casting detect magic focusing on the room.
Kjellberg wrote: Kjellberg's voice lowers to a whisper but loud enough for Nijena to hear. "I think someone is inside the building." "Can you tell who or what is in there?"
OK I'll keep that in mind.
I look over to see Horgus trying to pull on something. Looking to Kjelberg, I say, "What is that man doing over there? I've been working on Avenia's leg so I missed what he said."
Would have my Heal check done any good? I know that we put her leg up in a splint earlier to mitigate the damage, along with the cure spells/potion.
Happy that Eladhir has said something to the both of them, I go over to look at Anevia to see if her wounds are getting worse.
Heal check: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
I look to Raziel, Eladhir, and Kjelberg (while Gnawl is looking around) and say "I think we'll need to keep to a slow pace. Between Aravashinal's blindness and Anevia's injuries, we aren't going to be able to maintain a military pace for long."
I pull from my waterskin instinctively and walk over to Aravashinal. "Here, drink this," as I hold the spout up to his mouth. I then hand over the waterskin to Eladhir, using gestures to show how much to give the blinded elf without spilling. Turning to Kjelberg and Raziel, I say "Your both right, there's no reason to go back there. Let's move ahead once Aravashnial's thirst is slackened. Does anyone else need water?"
I look at Kjelberg, noticing that he is likely looking for the same things that I am. I say to him "Well, what do you think? Any reason why we should explore that passage that seems to lead back to where we started?"
Do I have an idea of how long it's been since this 'event' started? Like, I know it was only a few minutes from your first posting to the actual attack and fall, but do we have any sense of how long we have gone since then?
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
WOW! Like Kjelberg, I'm keeping an eye out for anything that might bring harm to the wounded in our detail.
I think that, given that we are not worrying about XP, and given how huge this particular AP is, missing some of the side encounters (as long as we don't miss out on some crucial aspect that is integral to either the plot or a character) won't be a big deal to us in the long run. We'll be playing this for the next couple of years, and we'll have plenty of time to accumulate wealth and power.
Just my 2cp.
How are we on provisions? I'm guessing that we would have checked our own stuff as just as a matter of function, but how are our walking wounded looking?
Appraise on broach (flat check): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
Any kind of value on the broach? If nothing else, a few extra gold tithed to the cause will always come in handy.
Does the broach detect as magic?
"Did you find anything, Gnawl?"
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Know (local): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Turning to face as many people as I can, I say out loud, "Mr. Horgus, I appreciate your candor in the matter. Given the circumstances, I think that we should head back up to the surface as best we can. We may still be able to do some good once we get there. Kenabres won't fall so quickly, simply because of the Storm King. Unless there are any objections, I propose that we place Gnawl here pointing to the little kobold, so everyone knows who he is, on point as our scout. Eladhir and I will stay with the wounded, and Raziel can keep an eye on our rear. We'll be moving slowly, so that no one falls behind." Looking around, I say finally, "Any questions?"
Diplomacy check: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
"Any information that you have will be quite useful to us, Mr. Horgus. Please tell us what you know."
"I would agree as well." Turning to look at our walking wounded, I ask, "Is everyone alright to move?" Pointing to Eladhir, I also say, "Go ahead and help I can't remember the other elf's name atm... with moving. Hopefully, when we get up top, we can find a healer or cleric that can mend your eyes, sir."
I'm going to go and check them out, but do I need to roll anything to identify them?
I hear Gnawl's cry, and turn to Avenia. "It sounds like they need some help. I'll be right back." With that, I draw my scimitar, a blade of the finest quality (...or so I've been told. May as well ask me what an airplane is, for all I know...), and move towards the grub, all the while looking for other threats.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Turning to Avenia, I hand over the vial to her. I then ask her how she is in a fight, as I see the kobold and the tiefling going after the spider (and perhaps something else?). I also see the grumbling one and ask Avenia if she knows that man.
As the elf is holding out a vial to us, can I identify which one it is?
Perception to spot: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
My actions on 1st round will depend on your response to my question.
Raziel of Mendev wrote: Raziel shifts uncomfortably. "We should not linger here." Looking over at you, I say"I agree with you. However, we have wounded. No matter what happens, we need to bring them with us. We can be cautious about it, but we will not be going anywhere in a hurry. Do you have any suggestions, while I finish up here?"

I walk over to Avenia and introduce myself. I take a look at her leg...
Heal check: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
...and it feels like a clean break. 'it could have been worse, considering. Nothing here that feels like multiple breaks, and no rupturing of the skin...' I explain that I'll need a few minutes to find enough wood or stone to form a brace, and then I can cast a healing spell that will at least put the bone back together. The worst case scenario, I tell her, is that you'll feel a little less pain, but walking will not be easy.
I then go and look for some wood to use as a splint. I find a couple of planks wide enough to do the job. Taking some materials, I tie off the splint, making it as tight as I can, letting Avenia dig her hand into my shoulder as she deals with the pain. Making sure that the portion of leg where the break is, as straight as it can be considering, I cast a cure spell.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Seeing as how the spell did not seem to do much good, I make a prayer to Sarenrae to help me heal this woman, and then channel my energy into her leg.
Channel Energy, 30' radius, if anyone else is in my sphere and is injured: 1d6 ⇒ 2
I look up to see my patient's reaction...
Is there somewhere I can rub the dice algorithm to give me enough oomph to roll something other than 1? ;p
I feel the tug on my jilbab and look down, to see Gnawl looking up at me, holding a bag of what appears to be chestnuts. After hearing his idea, I feel myself soften up a bit and realize that he is trying to offer help to the elf, which in and of itself seems odd, but this is an odd situation. I try to speak in common, but it is clear that he does not understand that language. Switching to draconic, I tell him that it could not hurt. "Break up the chestnuts before offering it to him, as he cannot see anything. Also, do not let him know that you are a kobold. It will likely upset him further and I think that we'll need all the help we can get in order to get back up to the surface. Make sense?"
Just letting you know that I made a change on my character: I realized after the fact that I did not add my Cha bonus to my Diplomacy. I've made the change on the sheet, but not that it did any good on my roll...

With Kjellberg's help, we sit the elf down on some 'flat' rubble. By now, I will have set enough light spells to give the space (however big it is) at least dim, if not normal light.. I take one look at the elf's eyes, and can tell that nothing short of powerful magic will restore this man's sight.
Heal check: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 I'm guessing that, on this low of a roll, all I can do is grimace..."Durr, you got burned!!!" lol
I'll make use of my healer's kit to remove as much of the blood from around his eyes as I can, and then bandage them up by wrapping his head in cloth. At the same time, I am trying my best to calm his nerves and, hopefully, bring him out of his shock.
Diplomacy, combined with CLW (cast as a spell-like): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 I can see that it's going to be one of those days...
Seeing that my efforts are doing no good, I ask Kjellberg to try and calm him, as I move over to the other two voices. "Hello, my name is Nijena. Are either of you hurt from the fall?" 'I wish I had a mend spell, his clothes really are tattered. I would have been fine to have not seen that hanging out. Sarenrae, grant us strength to get us through this day.'
'Oh my goddess, what happened to you,' is my first thought, as I rush over to the stricken elf. His face appears to be...well, broken. It is clear that he is blind, ''and may well be forever,' I think and that he needs a lot of help. I point to the female basically, the only one NOT attempting to be sneaky sneaky, and say, "You. Come over here and help me with him. We need to find a place for him to sit, so I can take a look at the damage." I take on an authoritative voice, not unlike what I used in the aid station to do triage.
I quickly turn towards the sound of the voice...
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
"Hello? Who's out there? Come towards the light if you can hear my voice."
Has anyone heard from densetracker yet? It looks like we've gotten as far as we can in the gameplay until our DM steps back in.
