Hey there was an issue that came up during a PFS game that was about the Spirit walker archetype for the mesmerist. Basically i was playing my 4th level kitsune mesmerist and nobody but me understood any of the shenanigans i was pulling. They were all perfectly legit but the abilities that the GM was having trouble understanding was hypnotic stare and the bold stare abilities. Since i am the spirit walker archetype i get the bold stare psychic inception at 1st level but only to affect undead which is part of the Undead Inception ability of the spirit walker. However the GM read the archetype ability and was under the assumption that this alters my hypnotic stare ability so it only affects undead not humans or anything else. However, I don't think he read the ability right at all cause of these reasons.

A: The phrase he pointed out to get this conclusion was "This allows him to affect only undead" but i reread that part and it goes on to say "He must choose the Psychic inception bold stare improvement if he wants to also affect other mindless undead." So i think he completely missed that part because what the rest ensues is that this ability is an improvement not an alteration to hypnotic stare.

B: Undead inception replaces consumative liar and mental potency and says nothing about altering hypnotic stare. So why would my hypnotic stare suddenly only affect undead when there are no alterations at all to it from this archetype.

So unfortunately because the GM read that my hypnotic stare as only affecting undead with this archetype, i need an official ruling on this ability cause otherwise i have to spend prestige points to retrain out of this archetype.
