![]() Now that we are away from Rineri's I think I everyone should be aware that many piece's at the auction are in fact high quality forgeries. I am also curious about the hidden passageway. Perhaps we should get some well deserved rest before seeing what we can discover at tonight's auction? ![]()
Male Human Warrior 1/ Wizard 1
![]() Not being the most garrulous individual, and having little to say to someone dealing in fake goods (not that he reveals this to Rineri), Nicholas spends his time examining the items more closely noting which are fakes and which are real in case this comes in handy later. He also seeks to note any writing or other distinguishing marks on them hoping to remember them on the chance they have significance he is not currently aware of. ![]()

Appraise:1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26 Knowledge (history): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19 After examining them very closely Nicholas asks Rineri, "I've never seen such a fine collection of Har'Kir artifacts. This will be a very impressive auction. I am curious, however, that I have not heard of a new discovery or a major collector that wishes to disperse his collection. May I ask the origin of this uniquely impressive collection?" ![]()

![]() I myself am a student of the arcane and something of an expert on the exotic. I do, however, represent my patron who is in a position to be a more serious buyer, rather than just an admirer such as myself. It is my job to find collections that would be worthy of their attention. May I inquire regarding the specifics of the wares on offer so I may judge whether it is worthy of my patron's attention? ![]()

Also, I am a collector of objects from far lands. What do you have from more distant realms. (after overhearing the conversation between Rineri and the three men)

![]() We seem to be attracting quite the crowd. Perhaps it would be best if we retire without this crowd to discuss why the Renier were resorting to such drastic measures against you. I'd like to turn these two over to the guard, though since we halted things as quickly as we did I'm sceptical the guard will do much. ![]()

![]() Nicholas has been lost in thought for some time, and finally seems to snap back to the world. Knowledge: local 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16 Yes, lets investigate Rineri. I am also curious about the banknote, that is an awful lot of money for someone running about the sewers to have. Perhaps we will be able to trace a note of that large a denomination, surely there can't be that many circulating in our sewers. I am still baffled by the Bluetspur connection, what interest is obscure creatures of myth have to do with our city? ![]()

![]() Last, to arrive Nicholas walks up to the corpse. "Nice shot, Yvon, I was worried he was going to get away. Hopefully we can get out of this muck soon, I fear this suit is ruined." He attempts to clamber over the fallen masonry: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 Managing to get over, but only with much cursing, splashing, and wasted time. Beginning to resemble a soaked, unhappy, growling feline, Nicholas figures his next move will be either a spell or a bullet. Enough of chasing after this ruffian like a common guardsman. ![]()

![]() Nicholas finishes his drink and slowly follows after Arnaud and Yvon. On hearing the strange man's statements he says, "we're not here to play any games. I'm here to get on with my life, whether I choose to do so in Port-a-Lucine should be none of your business. Whatever game it is you're playing, you seem to be making a mistake by choosing to make enemies of those that would prefer to remain bystanders." knowledge local:1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13 ![]()

Tonight maybe but I bet you thrice their fee that you'd be in a healer's shop within the week paying 10 times what tonight cost you to stop the burning whenever you relieve yourself. I've seen enough of my shipmates make their mistakes to learn that when whores get too cheap they can be rather more expensive than their asking price." After hearing the warning: Nicholas reaches in his quote and grips his pistol. He leans over to Gisele and whispers, "I haven't spotted them yet. Which ones are they? I could put a few to sleep but casting may reveal more than we'd like. If the odds are against us, however, it may be safer to neutralize a few before the guns start going off." ![]()

![]() Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 2 Nicholas will put down his two coppers and thank the bartender. He scowls after taking a swig of gin, saying "I haven't had gin like this in months. Brings back memories." Noticing how Yvon is trying to get some of the whores' attention he says, sorry but these ladies are a bit thin for my taste. If you'd like to take your chances, feel free. I'll stay here and enjoy the quality beverage." ![]()

![]() "Thank you Arnaud, I am grateful for the gift. Hopefully I won't be needing to use it at the Blood of the Vine, but if I do I'll have your back. I'm a far better shot with this than I am up close." Once we reach the tavern. "Haven't been to this kind of place in awhile. I'm certainly not dressed for it. Shall a few of us just walk in the front door, or does anyone have better suggestions as to how we proceed." ![]()

![]() 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24 Nicholas grins at the offer. "I would be pleased to accept your generous offer, Arnaud. I have felt naked without a proper weapon at my side. I am much in your debt." "Unless anyone has objection, I would agree that we should head to the Blood and Vine as quickly as possible. It would seem best to find out what we can before our enemies are certain of the results of tonight's attack." ![]()

![]() 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 I'd like to search Sarivec's quarters to see if he left anything that might give us more details about the Sarti's operations. But any hints about the Sarti's operations or regular recruiting grounds would be helpful.] ![]()

![]() Nicholas will wander into the kitchen, looking for a fire poker as well as a torch or something else he can light on fire to bring a flame with. When he arrives in the office he'll look around and say, "what? I'm a traditionalist when it comes to these things," as he begins to heat the poker red hot. ![]()
Male Human Warrior 1/ Wizard 1
![]() Well, it's something. Perhaps, if we're really lucky, some of the survivor's from tonight's attack are affiliated with this Brain. It's a long shot but if he's trying to control the docks perhaps he wanted to muscle in on a new business. If anyone has knowledge about the two ringleaders of tonight's raid perhaps we can locate their quarters before the guard does, we may find information that could confirm or deny this association. As for the casino, I'll help where I can. Perhaps I can think of some magic tricks to spice things up. ![]()
Male Human Warrior 1/ Wizard 1
![]() Delays happen, I'd like to continue the game, provided that there will be at least occasional updates. My game survived more than two weeks without posting in January (though I lost a few players but the group was on the large side anyway) so I don't think the odd delay here and there is too much of a problem. ![]()

![]() Nicholas looks somewhat uncomfortable as he always does in social situations. He nervously goes over and gets a glass of wine, endeavoring to look busy. Hearing Helene's proposal, he chimes in "I'll do what I can to help, but I'm not sure I'll be much use in running a casino. Perhaps I can be of more use in the investigation. As always, I'll do what I can for the family, in the end, I'm only here because of the kindness shown to me by the DeSuis. I'm eager to get a chance to pay back blood for blood for what was done to us." ![]()

![]() "Yes, best to let the gendarmes take over from here. It seems to me that this, incident, is a strong argument that a facility of this sort needs considerably more security. It is a rare stroke of luck that we were around to intervene." "Let us proceed with our business, after this, I am eager to get this evening over with." ![]()
Male Human Warrior 1/ Wizard 1
![]() Hearing Gisele's call Nicholas responds, "Excellent, hopefully he'll have at least some knowledge to share with us about this robbery. First, however, I'd like to see if there is anything I can find on this fellow." Nicholas kneels down to search Sarivec's body and is interrupted by Helene's entrance. "I'd say your entrance is timely. I see a few guests at least who are regretting their attendance. With the departure of their poor souls, if not their bodies, perhaps the rest of the evening will be more congenial to the remaining guests." ![]()
Male Human Warrior 1/ Wizard 1
![]() As he sees Jean-Pierre raise his sword Nicholas shouts "No!" Afterward, "dammit Jean-Pierre I was trying to take him alive!" Nicholas well then see if there is any hope of staunching Sarivec's bleeding wounds, if so he will do so. Otherwise, "Well there's nothing that can be done now. It would have been valuable to interrogate him; I doubt the rest of these goons know much." He will then walk over to the chest, to make sure it doesn't get lost in the confusion. ![]()
Male Human Warrior 1/ Wizard 1
![]() On my turn I will attempt to maintain the grapple until the rest of the group finishes off their opponents and someone more dangerous in melee gets here. If he tries to cast a spell I'll head but him or hit him in the face. I'll also try to keep an eye on the chest, I'm not going to let that get stolen because I'm busy with Sarivec when I went through so much effort to prevent him from getting it. ![]()
Male Human Warrior 1/ Wizard 1
![]() Seeing his opponent running for the door Nicholas runs to block the passage (I assume he is still closest to it). If I get there first I will attempt to hit him in the face. I want him alive. Yes, this does mean that two wizards just got involved in a fist fight. If I have to chase him I will try to tackle him. Roll for either should be the same. 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16 ![]()
Male Human Warrior 1/ Wizard 1
![]() Not sure where I am on the initiative list. Sounds right on the spell save. If the chest appears to be made of actual metal (as opposed to wood painted gold), or if there is sufficient metal on it to let the spell work, Nicholas will cast burning disarm on it (not sure how this will work with the grease but I figure a hot, greased chest is harder to hold than a chest that is just greased and worse case scenario it at least does 1d4 damage; spell stats reflex save to drop object or suffer 1d4 damage, 25 ft. range). Otherwise, he will cast sleep on Sarivec. Cursing under his breath when he sees that someone grabbed the chest, Nicholas prepares to cast another spell. He isn't entirely sure what is going on here but he plans on making sure nothing leaves this room until things calm down. If there is cover within a move action that will leave him in spell casting range Nicholas will use the move portion of his action to put himself behind it. He doesn't fancy taking a bullet while casting if he can help it. Standing orders for this combat: For standing orders for this combat, Nicholas will seek cover and use his telekinetic fist ability, +3 atk (+4 if point blank shot applies) 1d4, 30ft against whoever has the chest or as a secondary target against anyone firing at him, or as a tertiary target in support of whoever looks most hard pressed in melee combat. If he somehow runs out of his T fist ability he will resort to throwing daggers.
Also, he will try to take a pistol at the end of combat, he'd really, really like one. ![]()
Male Human Warrior 1/ Wizard 1
![]() On my turn I will do one of two actions, if the chest is within range (25 ft) I will cast grease on the chest if it is still too large to fit in a bag, if it has been shrunk to much less than a square foot I will cast grease on the area around the chest instead (grease is cast using my bonded object). If the chest is out of range then I will cast sleep focused on the woman in red (though hopefully she won't be 4th level and it may take someone else as well). If possible I will attempt to remain partially behind the door as cover, but if I need to move closer to cast grease and can do this I will leave cover. Recognizing some of his relatives among those being threatened by the thieves Nicholas quickly assesses the situation. He isn't entirely certain what is happening but it seems certain that it would be best if that chest stays right where it is. He begins to chant swaying slightly as he becomes wrapped up in the rhythm of the words he is speaking. 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17

![]() Nicholas walks in wearing a hastily put on suit. His tie is askew and covered with machine grease. You can still see quite a bit of grease on his hands, and on his suit coat. He is rather shocked to see the robbery in progress and tries to duck back behind the door to get a better sense of the situation before acting. (I'll assume I go last sense I'm such a late arrival, I wasn't on the computer much this week and this is the first chance I've had to check in.) |
