About Nephilos
Nephilos was the product of a savage attack by a vampire on a human woman. Despite the horrific circumstances of her resulting pregnancy, the woman chose to deliver the child. However, she died in childbirth, and her family were determined to drown the half-human, half-vampire infant she gave birth to.
Nephilos was saved by the village cleric, a priest of Iomedae, who believed that the only true way to combat evil was through acts of goodness. Nephilos was raised in the church, although he remained a pariah in the eyes of the other villagers. Upon learning of his unholy origins, Nephilos vowed to destroy all the undead creatures whom he blamed for ruining the lives of his mother and himself. Though he respected the faith of his adopted guardian, Nephilos turned to worshipping Pharasma, the Queen of the Dead, finding a common cause in her own hatred of all things unliving.
When he reached adulthood, Nephilos chose to venture forth and join the Pathfinders, as part of the Silver Crusade faction, becoming one of their dreaded Inquisitors. Now he fights as one of the church's secret weapons against the horror of the undead, protecting the same faithful who reject him as a monster.
