Ahh, you see you never specified how far I was from the area. I think I said I would've made sure to be within 20" to throw and be within range, but fine it's the effect I was after was burning the area in an attempt to either goat it out or make the area appear more visable to the group.
"Someone heavily armoured should get closer or if someone can summon a creature to be a instant sacrified or one of us can get closer to it." as Nefi says this she gets out her spear and points it towards the area of climped soil and then moves closer, getting ready to stab at anything that emerges.

Well Nefi just wants to make sure everyone is atleast 20 ft away from the area so where Nefi throws the bomb no one will be like "owwww, why the hell didn't you tell me you were going to throw that!" or "Watch where you're aiming!" so I want to make sure I don't hit anyone, plus I'm acting on what my perception result told me. Nefi, satisfied everyone is 20' away from the area throws the bomb into the square where she thinks something is hiding. To hit a area is DC 5 so I'll have to roll that to hit the area. attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8 damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 This is the damage in the direct area is lands in, but anywhere in the slash radious around the bomb (5' around) takes only 4 points of fire damage.
Tholamin Medvyed wrote: Actually I have a question whats going to be your rules on death and new characters? Well I'm not sure how much you know about the new pathfinder rules, but you don't die until your negative hitpoint equal your con score. For example, Nefi Lagalos here my Alchemist here has a con score of 14. This means that if she gets knocked down to -9 and then bleeds into -10 she is still alive until she reaches past -14 as per the new rules: d20pfsrd wrote:
So if Nefi here fell unconcious at -3 from the damage she took from a Orc's axe then she would have to roll: 1d20+2-3 and if she beats DC 10 she stops bleeding and stabalises. I'm quite soft and there's a good chance I'm not going to let anyone instantly die from the first encounter and rule it off as badluck, unfortuatly this is not a charity case and will never happen again. P.S. This is the DM.

Nefi makes sure to point out the area. "I don't know what it is, but there is something hiding under the ground there. Most likely something that had killed whatever these bones belonged to." she makes sure everyone understands to back away clearly from the area. "Last minute warning, if whatever is under there is intelligent, come out now!"Map DM? Atleast for where we position ourselves or maybe when I've thrown the bomb.
No one's posted in a while so might as well. "Clear the area guys. I want to light this thing up before it comes out and nabs one of us." she says preparing the ingredients, but not yet mixing them as she knows the chemicals will change from unstable to mundane in a matter of seconds so she'll have to time this right.
"Pavel! There's something moving there." Nefi points to a area near the centre of the area being paced out and steps away, moving her hands down towards her ingredients and getting prepared to throw a bomb if need be. "I can try and flush it out with fire if you want guys?" Nefi doesn't know what's moving so she doesn't want to flush out something that might be harmless, which is unlikely due to all the bones. Heal check to have a glance at the bones and see if any are humanoid: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 Clearly I havn't seen a humanoid before...
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24 "Hm, well I was also thinking of red or black or maybe a very wild colour." she smiles as she sighs, seemingly unimpressed with Pavel's reaction. Heal: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14 (heal check to see what the species was and how these htings possibly died like bite wounds or stabbing, ect. Won't tell me what it is unless I do another knowledge check.)

So save my rations then? "Sounds like a good plan. I'm looking for anything with some kind of special properties. "If we are going to be spending so much time here I better learn more about nature, but more of the plants out here." she gives a smirk and looks curiously up at Pravel.
marked off 1 ration on my herolab sheet. 4 rations left, will be telling the party if Nefi starts running low. DM:
Yeah that's understandable, there are no rules so I was hoping for some DM intervention as I of course can't make up the rules as it is your game. I have no problem with component costs and aquiring some psudo-knowledge of nature for finding plants that can be used in the process. Thought of this some time ago but didn't mention it till now. Dyes have been around for many years afterall, though all the knowledge I have is remembering how in White Wolf by David Gemmel the hero relives his past where prostitues all had their hair dyed red. I certainly agree to higher DCs for dyes that might have a slightly more magical propery to them like perhaps making the hair glitter or be a mixture of two colours (like two seporate colours) and even possibly alternating colours of hair. Of course that would be up to you on the DCs, with your judgement of what would require more alchemical knowledge. "So...where shall we go? We have a huge land to explore with many jungles. I believe we wanted to explore the area closest to Oleg's. I'm hoping to find more materials for a little experiment I have in mind." she grins as she says this and plays with her hair.
Assisting with Survival: 1d20 ⇒ 12 Nefi will have bombs prepared for an encounter, following Pravel somewhere near the front. "I've heard of fey living out here and ruins. Perhaps because there is a deep connection to the first world. Hmm...wonder what I can do with some of these leaves I found." DM only: have a idea of what Nefi might like to make. How about certainly coloured plant leaves could be used for hair dyes. I have a idea of Nefi deciding to be accentric and changing her hair colour every few days and even selling them if allowed, following performance rules for the amount of money made, but that's just my suggestion. Would like to change the hair colour as that would be a funny querk of the character.

The curmudgeonly wit reminds me of Doc Martin if that's what you're on about. Though with Doc Martin he appears to be more like a robot and doesn't relate to the villagers, which I can understand as many of the cases he deals with are due to the villagers own neglagence.

Discovering strange new concotions both healing and damaging, finding new types of poisons to be made, making a highly concentraited acid to burn through metal..." she carries one for a few moments listing off many different discovers that can be found and her obvious excitement at the prospect of alchemy. It's almost as if she's forgotten she was talking to anyone. "Money is something we would need to help equip ourselves, however as Pravel said, it helps with our goal to tame this land and it's not like we're doing something immoral." She shrugs her shoulders as she thinks for a moment, hoping to come up with something that might help calm the tensions, but she instead starts collecting samples from any nearby interesting looking natural plant-life she can hope to either make a potion or poison out of.
Nefi is cautious and draws out a vial she has prepared earlier that day, drinking it instantly and a disc flickers into existance for a moment before dissappearing.
I assume as they have noticed us they'll be here in less than 10 rounds (1 minute) so the extract will be up. It's effectively a shield spell so +4 shield bonus and immune to magic missiles. Spellcraft: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20 Nefi smirks as she notices Krebak's spell.
Don't know Krebak's spells in his book in character, though unfortunatly she can't learn mage armor, but can various other spells. Having a look at your profile none the alchemist can learn.
Krebak wrote: "Too rich for my blood. You should tell us about this quest, after we find out if these guys are here to talk or try to kill us." Nefi forwards the spoiler tag of perception 20 or better, just in case. "There are a bunch of them coming this way. Seven people, six animals in total. Three of the men are on hourse back and followed by four men on foot and three mules loaded qith equipment." she pauses as she tries to get more detail. The lead rider must be the one in charge. He's carrying a unusual crossbow in his hands and is wearing a breast plate. The second rider has a spear that flies with a crest of a white swan serenely sailing across a blue expanse. Raised on the crossbar of his weapon and wearing a chain shirt. All os them appear to be armed with the same unusual spears with a spiraling blade and crossbar, all wearing chain shirts." Nefi makes sure to get her ingredients ready in case she wishes to throw a bomb if they are in danger.

"Also I'd like to take a look at your alchemy set. I'm curious what acids and other materials you might've been able to create and what herbs you might've found out here in the Stolen Lands." she smiles, hoping to get a look at whatever chemicals he might've been able to create due to the strange and unique plants out here. Cool, just contact the moderator as I'm unsure about the things with drawings as we havn't spoken about it in a while since we added a few peices of fan made art. Slumbering Tsar...I think I've seen that by frog god games on the paizo site, correct?

Handy against flying foes, but if no one else wants it and you don't want it Pavel we could claim it as party loot and use it either for money or trade.
Oh, something just came to mind. James, d20pfsrd cannot upload pictures from paizo's books unless they're posted on the blog or somewhere where it's open and able to be picked up. As a result we have many blank pages and some time ago we started taking on artists to do a few drawings. I believe someone already covered animals from Bestiary familiars for wizards. If you have the free time you can get in contact with the group or look online and see what they say can have drawings. Just a suggestion, but of you don't have the time that's understandable. It's just a suggestion and we give credit to where the images come from.
That's two characters in the same AP that I don't have any points in survival, but will have to take some next level. Nefi will try to assist Pravel DC 10 to assist 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (12) + 0 = 12 That's a +2 to Pravel's check. Nefi remains close to Pravel, looking about the wilderness and wanting to help out however she was also hoping to find interesting unique plants and fungi that she could possibly stock up on to experiment with or even make poisons with. Anyone want to either pay or ask Nefi to have her create a few poisons I'm sure she'd accept, though without poison use you'll have to still make a reflex save on a contact poison to have it dipped in your blade without infecting you.
Hey sorry guys I would've replied but I thought there was a problem with the site. It appears that once again firefox wasn't loading any webpages on paizo so I was stuck with a blank screen and now the kids are here, gah. Anyway I'll get to everyone soon and save this explaination on note pad to tell everyone else. Again, I apologise for the slow reply. Also, congrats on the bouncing baby boy. I wish you luck that he's a quiet one ;) Nefi makes sure to eat her meal, but she eats with slowly and taking her time to look over all the peices that she then eats. She appears quite happy and enjoying the meal, but seems to study it too as it appears to interest her for some reason.

"Potions, acid and other things but what else were you thinking of?" she asks curiously tilting her head to one side as she does quite get the subtle suggestion At the mention of money "Oh...I've already spent most of it for Oleg to get me a portable lab. I could pay back by making potions of cure light wounds, shield and identify." she smiles as she loves the idea of being helpful. Potion creation rules: The creator of a potion needs a level working surface and at least a few containers in which to mix liquids, as well as a source of heat to boil the brew. In addition, he needs ingredients. The costs for materials and ingredients are subsumed in the cost for brewing the potion: 25 gp × the level of the spell × the level of the caster. All ingredients and materials used to brew a potion must be fresh and unused. The character must pay the full cost for brewing each potion. (Economies of scale do not apply.) The imbiber of the potion is both the caster and the target. Spells with a range of personal cannot be made into potions. The creator must have prepared the spell to be placed in the potion (or must know the spell, in the case of a sorcerer or bard) and must provide any material component or focus the spell requires. Material components are consumed when he begins working, but a focus is not. (A focus used in brewing a potion can be reused.) The act of brewing triggers the prepared spell, making it unavailable for casting until the character has rested and regained spells. (That is, that spell slot is expended from the caster's currently prepared spells, just as if it had been cast.) Brewing a potion requires 1 day. But it says under Brew Potion feat which I gain for free:
When you create a potion, you make any choices that you would normally make when casting the spell. Whoever drinks the potion is the target of the spell. I assume I'm right in that it takes 2 hours to brew the potion as per the description under the feat as it's bas price is 50 gp.
I agree, also a good way at looking at it Simon. I guess it works differently depending on the person. "I'd love to have a nice warm meal after all this travelling." she smiles softly as she looks over the group and makes sure to have everything prepared and out of the way. Last thing she wants is for her mutagen to accidently spill in someone's lunch. Also, DM is there any sculptures of sometype? I'd like Nefi to have some kind of interest and justification into why she takes the skill besides simply to make constructs, though that could be a good enough reason.

Probably will sound like something from writing class or drama club but here's a few things I can think of. Try to imagine yourself as the character. What interests you? Does the half-orc wizard scare your character or is he so used around half-orcs that they generally aren't intimidating? What do you smell when you put yourself in his shoes. What do you hear and how do you feel about planning this attack on the bandits? Is it justice or should they be put on a trail? I usually have the alignment hand-in-hand with personality. I'm still trying to find my place with Nefi, attempting to gauge her personality and interest in the affairs of the stolen lands.

Let me think on it for a bit and I will have something for you all to look at before you have to leave. "That's great! I'll settle for the portable lab until I get five hundred gold peices for a proper lab." with this she smiles and appears to eagerly await her portable lab, looking over her current checmicals. "If you guys want to put money my way, I can craft us potions of cure light wounds." she has her alchemy set all out for the moment, though she doesn't have a lab yet to help her skills. "It'll take me two hours and only cost 50gp for materials that I'm sure Oleg might have as his disposal." her eyes glisten as she looks over her potions and searching around to see if Oleg has the materials available, smiling up at him hopefully.
"If possible, I doupt Oleg has one, but if he were to have a wand of cure light wounds that could aid us far better, though I doupt you have been able to get this when the next trader comes by?" she asks not knowing how often traders would come down here if it all "I like the idea of taking the areas near Oleg's due to the safety of it." At Oleg Nefi seems happy with the newly aquired coin.
