Scarab Sages

One of my Pathfinder Society characters has the following bonuses to his threshold, but you have to belong to the Osirion/Scarab Sages faction to (which is no longer active, so you can't do it with a brand-new character):

+3 from completing the Destiny of the Sands trilogy (Osirion faction only).

+4 from a reward on the Season 8 Scarab Sages faction goal card.

Scarab Sages

The PathfinderWiki gives location tags for PFS scenarios, including Osirion. The following scenarios are suitable for level 7:

Levels 3-7 (use subtier 6-7):
#5-16: Sanctum of the Sages [part 3 of a trilogy; 1-2 are levels 1-5]
#6-19 Test of Kar Tuata

Levels 5-9 (subtier depends on party size):
#2-03: The Rebel's Ransom

Levels 7-11 (use subtier 7-8):
#1-32 Drow of the Darklands Pyramid
#1-53 The Faithless Dead [part 4 of a series; 1-3 are set elsewhere]
#2-20 Wrath of the Accuresed
#6-04 Beacon Below

Scarab Sages

The most extravagant non-combat purchase I've made in PF1 didn't have a GP cost. My Scarab Sage character in PFS spent 30 Prestige to become a Jeweled Sage. After 10-11 levels of loyal service to his faction, there was no way he was turning down THAT honor!

Scarab Sages 2/5

2 people marked this as a favorite.

Name: Neferanu, The Alexandrite Sage
Alignment: Lawful Neutral
Race: Oread
Class: Brawler (steel-breaker) 9/Living Monolith 2

Description: Neferanu is a powerfully built male oread, with hairless, slightly shiny, gray skin, with a stone scarab affixed to his forehead. When not expecting to fight or travel, he wears little but an Osiriani-style kilt and headdress, leaving the tattoo of an open blue hand (his god's holy symbol) on his chest prominently displayed.

Neferanu was born and raised in Osirion, and was trained from an early age to fight in the defense of his homeland and its temples. He has joined the Scarab Sages faction in order to better study the history and magic of his ancestors, and has already discovered lost secrets that improve his martial prowess.

After helping the Jeweled Sages defeat their enemy the Black Moon, Neferanu was inducted into the order as the Alexandrite Sage.

[Yes, I know someone else already claimed it. Obviously they're from a closely parallel universe that forked before either hero reached their goal. Tahonikepsu promised that she would back me up on that theory...]

Scarab Sages 2/5

First, I'd like to preface this by saying that I DO NOT want to see any spoilers here for what happens in the Season 9 adventure(s) focusing on the Scarab Sage faction. I haven't played Salvation of the Sages yet, but now that Neferanu is finally in-tier for it, I look forward to doing so.

My question is specifically about the language about faction changes in the Season 10 Roleplaying Guild Guide. Page 32 states:

"Halfway through Season 9, the Scarab Sages faction became inactive. While the Pathfinder Society campaign is unlikely to produce more content to support this faction, characters who are already members of the Scarab Sages can retain their membership in the faction and continue to spend Prestige Points on faction benefits. Characters who are members of the Scarab Sages can also switch to another faction at a cost of 0 Prestige Points at the beginning of the next adventure they play after August 2, 2018."

If my Scarab Sage character stays in the faction, can he still earn Scarab Sage-specific boons on Chronicle Sheets from previous seasons' scenarios?

The Guide states the faction is "inactive," not "retired," and the section on Retired Factions (page 33) still lists Scarab Sages having access to Osirion boons. So I think this means that nothing has really changed other than not getting any new faction-specific missions in Season 10, but I would appreciate clarification on that before I next play Nef.

Irori be with you.
