Fluff:

Neari comes from a long line of wizards, sorcerers and other arcane practitioners. Her family runs a small store in Magnimar, selling magic items and books. There was an unspoken expectation that everyone in the family would attend the Stone of the Seers and then join the family business. Her older brother and sister did this and while it seemed as though Neari would follow suit, she had a love for books and knowledge after all, but it was not to be.

Her love of books had led her to explore the city going to all the various places of learning, including to many of the city's temples. It was at the temple of Sarenrae that she felt pulled towards, returning time and again. She found delight in the Dawnflower's teaching and a sense of belonging amongst her clergy. When she devoted herself to Sarenrae her parents were dismayed, telling her she was throwing away all they had done for her. She talked little with her parents in the following years, living at the temple as she trained, though she did make sure to stay in contact with her siblings and a few of her cousins.

More recently, Neari came to Sandpoint to see the new temple that had been built and enjoy the swallowtail festival. Shortly after the festival one of the town's nobles hired her to deal with some troubles that had been plaguing the town's hinterlands. She now returns to Sandpoint hearing tales of the party's accomplishments and feels compelled to meet these daring adventurers.
