Hi, as of lasy weekend my epic halfling dogriding paladin was killed in a horrid way. This means that I need a new character! Unfortunately I am fresh out of ideas in terms of concepts. Wondering if anyone had any ideas for a new character based purely on concept, satistics and rules do not matter.

Hmmm. Ill think more on death watch vs detect undead. but thanks for all the advice gonna go to sleep now. Perhaps tomorrow I might continue this thread

so far the pcs are undetermined I plan on editing a couple of classes to present my players with multiple options so yes it is undetermined

Ohh death watch seems good. But the range on detect undead is 60 feet as opposed to just the 3o feet on death watch so I think ill stick with detect undead

And anyway Thats not exactly what Im looking for. I plan on exchanging some ranger spells for a few equal cleric spells

where is this archtpype do remember the books I have access to

Im GM so I don't have a character

So I have a new campaign idea for my players. The theme is highly gothic and dark with plenty of vampires and creepy crawlies to kill, a sort of horror land.

I decided to try my hand at, ahem, editing some of the classes to fit my campaign. Im going to keep most of the main class abilities and stats (such as hit dice, skill points) just going to tweak certain things.

I decided to start on the ranger and got the idea to make an undead hunter. You may think, "NealoMage, simply have your player only choose undead for favored enemy!" But looking at the abilities I new that I wanted wild empathy to disappear, possibly a new spell list, as well as a purely undead killing fighting style. I also thought about replacing some skills to further my goal.

I came up with the following as a start.
1. Limit favored enemy to only allow focus on undead foes. You cannot choose a second favored enemy and the bonus is only increases at the specified levels with no second favored foe.

2. No wild empathy.

3. Replace the skill Knowledge nature with Knowledge Religion

So the skill swap is easy enough. No problems there. But I realized that taking away a second favored enemy to pick from as well severely cripples the ranger. I have a possible solution for this. I could make a chart listing specific undead monsters for the ranger to pick from such as skeleton, vampire or zombie. That way the ranger would still pick a ,multiple favored foes at the proper level.

My second idea was to give the ranger the ability Detect Undead to cast at will much like the paladin. This would replace wild empathy

My main question is how balanced do you think this is. Too powerful, To weak? Please give me your feed back. Oh and keep in mind I only have the core rulebook (Obviously) Advanced players guide. Ultimate magic and advanced race guide to work from

Well gotta go thanks for the advice everyone

I wonder though if first level would be a pain though. Not enough feats to go around. Unless I play a human I guess. Forgive me, I don't know much about the magus

Touch spells not tough spells dang auto correct

ooh I'm liking the whip magus. Did not consider the tough spell from fifteen feet out

Dang you guys are good

I'm primarily looking for... Um anything. I will be playing on a homebrew campaign world and not allowed to play monstrous races like orcs or drow. And thanks torbyne those are awesome. Might go for the whip magus, mechanically would that make any sense though?

Quick! Give me a new character idea. My old character was eaten by an ogre :(.

Fair enough, my question does not make any sense. Let me try and restate it as best as I can. When creating the Kolbold should I use create it using slandered NPR creation rules or create a whole new Kolbold using the the monster creation rules found in the bestiary? I hope I clarified a little bit more.

Okay thanks I've noticed however how in convent wet area is a game table full of paper. D you know any dry erase maps, or do they even exhist

So I recently bought a wet erase battle mat. However do you think that dry erase markers would work on it?

So I had an idea in my head in an upcoming adventure for a Kolbold trap smith. However I was curios if I should make the, an NPC or a monster? And for the future how can I know weather or not to make an NPC or monster if I want a monstrous character like my Kolbold trap smith NPC

Okay I'm gong to apologize, my question has nothing to do with the phalanx soildier but how in the world do I post a new topic on the message boards?

Okay thanks thats been confusing me for a while

So I was curios about the rule that says if you weild a weapon two handed apply 1-1/2 of your STR modifier. What in earth does that even mean? How would I calculate that?

Wow these are all amazing. Thanks for the great advice, love the idea about the ship!

Sorry halfling sorcerer

So I have been the GM for... About ten days. Are next session is in two weeks and naturally I need to create an adventure.
I do not want to play a premade adventure and relish the challenge of creating my own.
The party consists of a dwarven paladin, human druid, human ranger, and finally a half long sorcerer. The setting will take place in the Inner Sea, not sure where though.

I am basically asking for advice as to how to start up an idea for my new adventure. I am currently blank on ideas.

Thanks

So I have come up with an idea of something I thought was really cool and wanted some advice as to how to build this character

I wanted to create a barbarian archer. He basically goes crazy and shoots arrows into his foe. What do you think?

To join and play in a pathfinder society campaign what do I need. I have my society number but what else do I need. ]
I also want to know about character creation. Can I do that before going to my first session or do I have to be at the session?
