Initiative: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12

Nathan draws his hellpistol and levels it at the Navigator's head in one smooth motion.

Spending this round aiming.

Seneschal 1

"Well, let's get this open again." Nathan attempts to force the door open again.

Tech-Use: 1d100 ⇒ 60

Looks like we should of gone back to the cutter to pick up some explosives.

Seneschal 1

Like we need a plan beyond "walk up there and shoot that heretic scum right in his third eye".

Guilty of disappearing; but I'm back and ready for one last fight against the BBEG

"Nathan, are you sure that engaging the gellar field will reduce the psyker's power?"

"Or we might just succeed in imprisoning it with us here forever."

"As sure as I'll ever be. Now let's get going. We shouldn't keep him waiting, after all."

Seneschal 1

"As a ranking officer on the Sovereign Venture, I defer to Captain Sarvus Trask for the next command."

In other words, no idea what to order it to do.

The voice rings out again, calm and sure, "Master Tsanthos. Your details are not on file. Calculations show your time stamp to be acurate to within accepted human parameters. There is a log-gap of 29 days, 3 hours, 43 minutes and 46.768543 seconds. This discrepancy must be explained. Protocol states that I deal directly with the captain in such a situation."

"The Captain has been slain by the Navigator. His replacement has yet to be chosen."

Seneschal 1

"Nathan Tsanthos. Current time-stamp: 120-872-1643." Now that the ritual is nearing it's end, Nathan's shoulders begin to stoop slightly.

Anyone got any words to say at this ominous moment? Nathan, you want to make the procedure up, or should I go full on description?

You can go ahead with the description. Let's just hope this does what we intend...

"You are a tech priest?" Hawk says, incredulous. "Pull the other one."

The old man raises an eyebrow, but simply looks to Nathan for confirmation.

"I think it's obvious to everyone involved that I'm not blessed by the Omnissiah. Still, I've been training with our Magos, so I'm currently the person with the best shot at restarting these engines."

If he is allowed to, Nathan proceeds to the engines and begins the rites.

Tech-Use: 1d100=13 I think I succeeded.

"Well, we technically do, but the Navigator isn't going to come down and do the ritual for us now, is he? Wait, couldn't we just get a line of communication back to our ship and get our Navigator to guide us through the ritual?"

** spoiler omitted **

I figured, if the Navigator did the ritual and not a tech-priest there had to be a reason. Given your response, I'll take it there isn't.

"You know what, I think I remember the details of this ritual. It shouldn't be that hard, really."

I'm going off to college tomorrow, so my posting's going to be spotty for the rest of the week. Feel free to roll the necessary rolls for me, and feel free to spend a Fate Point or two.

"Well, we technically do, but the Navigator isn't going to come down and do the ritual for us now, is he? Wait, couldn't we just get a line of communication back to our ship and get our Navigator to guide us through the ritual?"

Seneschal 1

"That's it, the Gellar Field! As long as the engines are running it's going to stay up and the Navigator literally can't affect this portion of the ship! Why didn't I think of this earlier?"

Seneschal 1

"Well then, it's a good thing we're sanctioned by the Emperor himself then."

Tech-Use, what do I know about the engines? (IC down, rolled 61)

Seneschal 1

"That's how we got out of there too. Anyway, we're planning on using explosives to open a hole in the bridge's hull, sucking him out into the void. Would that work, in your opinion?"

Seneschal 1

"Yes sir." Nathan joins Sarvus and the other man at the table.

Seneschal 1

"Yes, and we have a long way to go before we sleep, so can we pick it up a bit?"

Seneschal 1

"Well, we just have to go to the other side of this room then just go straight to the front of the ship. I hope you all don't mind taking a nice long walk."

Seneschal 1

"Let's see, we need to go about X meters that way to get back to the cutter, and I'm sure we all remember the way to the bridge from there."

Note: No, Nathan didn't say X, I just suck at judging distances and decided to let the GM put the right number into his mouth.

Seneschal 1

Apparently Ravadel is off doing a big case and thus won't be able to post that often. Guess he forgot to tell this game.

Seneschal 1

"Don't worry, we're... oh, never mind. Captain, lead on."

Seneschal 1

"I say we try talking to them. They probably want the psyker dead as much as we do."

Seneschal 1

"Everyone, be careful. Someone's repairing the ship." Nathan stops as the laughter rings out through the room. "Well, at least we found our mystery mechanic."

Brother Malakai wrote:
Brother Malakai looks to the flaring lights, "That's not a good sign, Emperor preserve us..."

"No, no it isn't. Most of the ship's too damaged to risk going through, but there's still one safe route, relatively speaking. We go to the engine room, take a different hall to get to the cutter, get the explosives, then blow that warp-addled idiot into the void. So, everyone got the plan?" Nathan says as he shows the map to any who are interested.

Tech-Use, why did the lights do that? 1d100=74

Sarvus Trask wrote:
"Access the schematics of the ship, Nathan. And show us the location of the armory."

"Hmm? Oh, sorry sir, I wasn't paying enough attention. I'll get right on it." Nathan walks over to the terminal and begins to work.

Tech-Use: 1d100=14

Seneschal 1

I also say we go with one last big push. So we find the weapons locker, grab a couple shotguns, go back to the cutter, get some explosives blow the psycher into the void, then profit.

Seneschal 1

Meanwhile, Nathan is pacing in the middle of the room, wondering how he could have messed up overriding a door lock that badly.

Still here, slow posting leads to me thinking the thread is dying and I pay less attention to it, so there's even less posting, you get the idea of what I'm saying here.

Seneschal 1
Sarvus Trask wrote:

"Overloading the reactor is absolutely last resort, else this venture has been for naught."

"Suggestions as to bait and anyone know where the nearest airlock."

"Sir, there's one main flaw with that plan. The one we need to be rid of the most is that Navigator, who's still sitting back up there! We'd need to blow a hole in the hull, probably need to reroute power away from the bridge too..."

Wait, there were windows in the bridge, right? The kind that break if you put a few bolter shells in them?

Seneschal 1

Nathan comes into the vent last. "So, anyone have a light?"

Seneschal 1

Awareness: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAhahahaha

"Nathan, quit screwing around! Malakai, help Nathan and Sarvus get that door open! Use your chainsword on it if you have to! Lorayne and I will cover you."

"What do you think I'm trying to do!", Nathan yells back. "What kind of idiot made this lock?"

Seneschal 1

Nathan once again tries to override the locking mechanism.

MOTHER-

Low is good, 98 is BAD. Roll again.

Tell me something I don't know. Techuse, to open the door and to know if the chair's power is linked to the ship's: 1d100=87, 1d100=39 Well, maybe they won't kill us too painfully?

Seneschal 1

Nathan runs back to the door and attempts to open it.

So, should I use that 98 I rolled without thinking about what I was actually going to do last round, or should I roll again?

Seneschal 1

Initiative: 1d10+3=8, 1d100=98 Well, I was planning on aiming for a full round and shooting next turn, so I guess I better use that failure of a roll for that then.

Nathan raises his hellpistol, carefully aiming at the psyker-thing.

Seneschal 1

"I'll open...", says Nathan before Sarvus just punches the panel. He simply sighs and stands in the back, his hellpistol drawn.

Seneschal 1

Nathan dashes out of the room back to the control panel, ready to attempt to close the door once everyone is out.

Tech-Use: 23

Seneschal 1

1d10+3=8, or 9 if I use Lorayne's ability.

Nathan turns around at Dominik's warning. "What- Why can't these things just stay down?!"

Seneschal 1

Nathan stops to think about what could be the cause of this.

Tech-Use and Scholastic Lore(Legend), do I know anything at all relevent to this? 1d100=67, 1d100=83

Seneschal 1

Do they seem hostile yet? Aiming as a half-action for +20, then attacking

Nathan raises his Hellpistol at the man stumbling at the captain, but even with his careful aim his shot goes wide.

1d100=90 Well, I suppose if the lead one is standing right next to me at the time and Sarvus gives me a quick pep talk I could hit it.

Seneschal 1

Initiative: 1d10+3=13

"There. No need to be impatient." However, when the people begin shambling out, he is already standing back up with his hellpistol out.

I love Quick Draw.

Seneschal 1

"What do you think I'm trying to do?", Nathan replies coldly. "Don't worry. I'm sure that if this doesn't work we could go back to the ship and get a few pounds of high explosives."

Seneschal 1

"Yes sir. Everyone, stand back. We don't know what's on the other side." He then begins the necessary rites.

Tech-Use: 1d100=15 Yes, I temporarily forgot that the +10 applies to the target number and not the die roll.

Seneschal 1

"Sir, I could try to reroute some of the power to the door to appease the machine spirits. Your orders, Captain?"

Seneschal 1

Nathan looks at the wiring, frowning. "That's odd. There seems to be a good deal of power being routed to the bridge. We should check it out."

Seneschal 1

Tech-Use: 1d100=74 Uh, can Trask use his Commanding Presence ability on this test even though I already rolled? It's just so close...

Seneschal 1

"Lets see, Lathe-class cruisers are usually..."

Common Lore(Imperium), Common Lore(War), and Tech-Use, do I know any more about the ship? 1d100=20, 1d100=17, 1d100=48

Sarvus Trask wrote:

"So we face someone or something with brains and/or skill enough to keep the engines going. You suspect survivors?"

"In any event, ready your weapons."

"Honestly, survivors would be the best-case-scenario."

Nathan tucks his data-slate under one arm while keeping his other hand on his hellpistol.

Seneschal 1

"Captain, may I speak with you for a second?" Nathan glances at the others then begins. "Those plasma engines may never be turned off, but that doesn't mean they will run indefinitly without the proper rites. Whatever's in there, it won't be the usual mutant scum."

Seneschal 1

Sorry, I was going to ask if I could use Tech-Use to know how it's still running, but I forgot. Tech-Use: 1d100=20

Seneschal 1

Nathan looks out the viewport at the ship. "That's odd. That ship's been drifting for Emperor knows how long, but the engines are still running. I have to find out why that is.", he says as he writes on his data-slate.
