No publications, but here's a works cited pages to use. This was from a paper specifically focused on the literary value of D&D. Barrowcliffe, Tavinor, and Hayot are probably of most use to you.
Thank you so much I figured this would be the best place to ask for helpful advice. It is worth half my grade for my management communications class and I thought this would be a great topic to discuss. It is a topic that comes easy to me and I can relate to due to our girls so it requires little thinking other than siting sources.
Phneri wrote: Define documented proof.
Do you want an actual classroom environment in which tabletop gaming has been used?
Do you want documentation showing that tabletop gaming can reach the same academic goals the use of other media does?
Do you want evidence that interactive fiction is of equivalent value to literature in terms of study?
I've done half a masters on this, so I've got stuff, but I need specifics.
I am doing a quick 3 min presentation on the educational benefits for say 4-8 year olds. Mathmatics, reading, planning etc. To show that while it is fun it is also a great way for kids to learn without knowing. We game with our girls all the time and they have learned to count this way but I need to show some sort of documated source stating that this form of gaming has been either proven or "suggested" proven to help with learning the above skills. If you have written a paper that has been published on some of this I can use that as a source. Please let me know. Thanks!
I am doing a presentation on why gaming is a great learning tool for children. We all know the benefits of it but I need actual proof. If anyone can steer me towards documented proof I would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Keani
Dreamweaver and I are in 210
Here are pictures from the meet and greet. Thought it would be fun to have a thread for pictures from the next few days!

How close is this and do they have good brew?
Red Hook is up in Woodinville, relatively close by. Yes, it is good beer. You can even get a tour there.
I'd also recommend the Black Raven Brewery in Redmond. It's got a small taproom right now, but their beers are excellent.
Mac n Jacks is somewhere around here too, but it's just a place where you can go in and fill your growlers, or a keg.
Hmmm. I'm sensing a Wednesday night event here..... Colter and I missed Fight Club last year due to us sitting at Red Hook for 5 hours straight. It was an easy drive and was great food and beer, we did the tour very intoxicated and are looking forward to going back there again this year or trying to find another brewery to go to. We would be down with going with a group to any of the brewery's. If we are planning a Wed night thing please let us know so that we can edit our room reservations for a day earlier
I know Colter and I will be bringing a few growlers of local brew with us like we did last year. We will also bring some our meade with us as well. We would love to hang out with people and drink beer where ever we can find a spot to do so.
So basically Sean and Jason are telling everyone not to have their children help them with their maps or to at least be sober while they are doing them... Also if your wife can't tell you where anything is on it then you need to make it better.(This is coming from a wife of a not so good map drawer)
Is anyone else having trouble opening the PDF. I keep getting "Error can't display pdf correctly."
Oh yea facebook is a great thing! I know who the new customer service rep is!!!

The dress code for the picnic was shorts and t-shirts for everyone, but his plain black shirt with the rabbit head logo, no words, no other art or logos, was deemed by the Higher Powers to be potentially degrading to the female attendees. It wouldn't have bothered me, but I know some women who would be upset, especially if they didn't know the guy that well.
It's funny that some people (male and female) would be upset by the playboy shirt, but I'd bet nobody would've complained about a Saw or Sopranos tshirt. I'm not calling to ban those either, but anything remotely sexual is a problem for HR while HR wouldn't blink twice about excessive fictional violence. I work with 95% men in all the businesses that I do books for. I have found through the years that it seems the attitude of the women decides how nasty or tasteful men can be. I am very open and loud mouth so they are not afraid of being inappropriate around me however there are many women in today's society that still think men should behave on some level. I agree with you that if it would have been any other shirt it wouldn't have been a big deal, we often wonder why nobody says anything about my husbands gaming shirts but then we remember that they are to closed minded to understand what the shirt is about.

As I am sure all of you know this is a long weekend and I thought I should let you know that we will be at the lake from tomorrow until Monday night. There is no cell or internet service up there so we won't be able to post until we get back.
Are you using the PRPG? IF so one of the players could be a wizard with the necro school and that allows a wizard to turn the undead. With that in a druid or maybe a paladin you might be good enough.
Female Elvish ( Its in my ears) Mother6/Wife6
What about traits? Can I just select two since you are past Lamm.
Female Elvish ( Its in my ears) Mother6/Wife6
Yeah sorry will be ready tomorrow.

Hey this is Dreamweavers wife. What is the point build and starting gold?
There are too many things that were great. Meeting everyone that you read so much about and then sitting next to them (Jason Nelson) and not even knowing that it was them until your game is all over. Such a blond moment. Loved every minute of the interactive. It was the best. Glad to prove to the hubby (Dreamweaver) that I can tell stories just as good, if not better than he can. (Boosting Champion) Having Wes try to pull you over to another faction with his good looks and charm alone. ;) The great food, the great games, Watching everyone get killed over and over again in Yetisburg. I could gab on and on but can't wait for next year and all the great things we will get to do then!
Without a doubt Dreamweaver and I will be back in full force. Hopefully I will not be sick!
Also to those higher up... The interactive was the best and would love to see it come back next year!
I thought it would be easier to start a new thread for all of the pictures everyone took so we can all see them and all that fun stuff!
Here's from our camera

Here are some that I copied the links over to here.

some more pics and a few videos...don't mind the sound :P
Dreamweaver and I had such a great time we will definitely be back for every con to follow. It was great to get to spend time with such wonderful people and get to play games that don't take 4 months for 1 act. Thank you to everyone who made this such an amazing experience you all are the greatest!

Hey Hugo, I need your pathfinder society number so that I can complete my sheet for the game you ran.
Thanks!

This goes out to those who send me their email and a few I already know. Enjoy!
I'm soooo tired....
You and me both yet here we are still on the computers both having games at 8 am
We did fine at the game it may have taken us a bit longer however but it was still a great game!
I am working on posting some pictures to the paizocon facebook page..
Just got done playing my first game here with Hugo GMing. It was a great yet frustrating game!
The hotel offers it, we were walking by and they were like "Would you like a glass of wine? It is wine hour" So we got a free glass. Who Knew
You can get a free glass of wine by the eastside grill right now!!!
Dreamweaver and I just got here and are in room 212 gonna wander and find people or maybe beer...
If it means gaming at the hotel and beer Dreamweaver and I will pitch in $20 to go towards the beer.
Anybody know the answer to this question???
Do the songs need to be "PG" rated.
We will defiantly be down for a little party. But we will only chip in for beer if it is a nice microbrew, we prefer dark but won't be too picky. We can also bring a couple bottles of our homemade meade. Where is this going to happen?
Dreamweaver wrote: I think my wife are going to try to make it to the hotel in time to eat so put 2 more down. Shouldn't you be working?
Frank Kaehler wrote: Certainly I am missing something. I see others managed to sign up for games at Paizocon. I have not a clue how they did this. Certainly there is informaton about it and I was able to down-load the events schedule. It is about 5P on 6/1. There should be some way to do this? Or should my wife and I just show up and hope for the best?
Frank
Have you already bought your tickets to the convention?
If so here is the link
events
Go to the center of the page and you will find the begin event signup.
Hope this helps
Daigle wrote: I just did the event sign up and all but one choice stuck. That individual event shows up grayed out and clicked when I look at the listings, but when I view my schedule, it is not mentioned. Just checking if this is a bug or me doing something wrong. did you save your changes? I switched mine around and it took several tries but I figured out that I needed to save the changes after everyone to make it work

You know, there is a term for this:
Con Virgins
Just sayin....... I would be all about hooking up with all the other virgins in the group. We could think of it as a paizocon game orgy. Maybe there would be a nice GM out there that would be willing to set up a simple yet fun game for all of us to get our bearings before we play with the "Sl*ts" of the gaming community.

Paul Hedges wrote: Thanks also. This will be my first time and I was a bit curious. Lucky for me my thoughts have been summed up and answered above. I am still trying to figure out how many characters I need to have ready and for what games as well as trying to figure out how to get signed up for the games that will be there. I heard something about signing up in May and was wondering if anyone knows the date for this as we will be in Mexico for a week and will be really bummed if we miss getting into games to do being on a cruise ship

Here's my Gen Con tips article.
linky.
The first part is stuff specific to Gen Con in Milwaukee, thus isn't really relevant to PaizoCon. The "Sean's Rules For Gen Con" part and the "Sean's Things to Bring" part are still relevant, though.
Thanks Sean your the best!
So this will be my first time at a convention. My hubby (Dreamweaver) just got me into gaming a year or so ago. I am very excited to come but am nervous about all of it. If any one can tell me what to expect or what to bring so that maybe I can "play with the big kids" that would be great. I have played on the boards but my actual "live" games have been limited to the hubby and I trying to play through 2 little girls helping us.
Thanks for any help!
This is the best that Dreamweaver and I could do, sorry no flesh for your flesh hungry goblins out there.
Please tell me that I don't need to dress like all of them just to come to Paizocon? I do have a princess leah costume though
Just wanted to stop by and tell you hi Liz!! I am excited to see you in June!

Hoping to be back in our house by the end of next week and then we will have a little more time to get back into posting. Thanks for hanging with us while we deal with all of this!!
Female Elvish ( Its in my ears) Mother6/Wife6
So our house almost burnt down this week so we are staying in a hotel for the next two weeks, we will have our laptop off and on depending on how long it takes to get it cleaned. We will try to keep up with the posts!!
Female Elvish ( Its in my ears) Mother6/Wife6
Hey all! So our house almost burnt down on Tuesday and we have smoke damage to the whole house so we are now having to stay at a hotel until our house gets cleaned and a new floor gets put in. We will have our laptop for a few more days but then we have to take it to get cleaned so that it no longer smells like it has been on a campfire. Sorry about not being able to post very much and we will try to once things settle back down but for right now we have been over at our house trying to help out the best that we can. We shall return though!!! Thanks Keani

Just wondering what is going on
Female Elvish ( Its in my ears) Mother6/Wife6
Things have been very busy at Dreamweavers work the past few months. He has been working very long hours and many nights, that has left me with the girls at home trying to maintain some sort of a schedule, trust me you don't want a mad 5 and 2 year old. We will be trying to get this going again and hopefully our DM will be able to post a bit more at work than he has been able to.
