"Urgh. Tenacious, aren't they!"

Nadric reaches down into his bag and fishes out an acid flask that he bought a while ago for who knows what reason. He hopes it will serve him well now, and after taking a small step backwards to stand next to Dmitri he hurls it toward the far corner of the swarm in hopes of avoiding splash damage to any of his teammates.

Nadric is quite startled when a stream of beetles pours out. His memory flashes back to their encounter with insects in the last tomb, and he pulls out an alchemist's fire and hurls it into the room in hopes of startling the vermin in any direction other than right toward him.

"Maybe if we finish exploring this house we will know enough to understand what happened to cause all this spiritual restlessness."

His own search turned up nothing, but he says, "Would you mind awfully if we go look at that other outbuilding in the courtyard before following these stairs upward? I don't like leaving unknowns at my back."

If there are no objections, Nadric will go out through the double door to look at the building, and enter if it seems safe from the outside.

Nadric lifts his scarf up over his nose to keep the dust out, and starts picking over the debris. "Sometimes archaeology is a dirty business, no mistake about that!" He chuckles at Zarisha's gloomy outlook, his voice slightly muffled. "But our job is to make them less forgotten, so there's that!"

"There's a long-dead body in here..." Nadric starts to relay what he sees, but is cut off by the sounds of combat behind him. "Ah! It wasn't the kitchen after all!" He nocks an arrow and sends it toward the closest of the heads that are snapping around Kenji.

"I'd say a haunted kitchen is even more likely in this house, given what we've seen so far. If a ghostly cook appears and says she 'just wants to chat', remind me to be a little skeptical!" He creeps up to the kitchen's doorway and peeks inside.

Nadric is saddened to see the vandalism to the shrine. "Who would have done that, I wonder?" After a moment of reflection he adds, "... We won't be blamed for it, will we? I hope nobody is going to think we had anything to do with that. Maybe it was part of whatever that was happening at the gate."

Does the defacing look recent, or like it was done a long time ago? At any rate he will follow Zarisha into the room to the north.

Hearing more voices, Nadric hastens into the next room. He sighs in relief to see someone who wants to talk instead of wailing about tragic events. "Oh, hello! We're from the Pathfinder Society, and we're here to learn about this house, and the people who once lived here. Do you mind us having a look around? Do you know what happened here? We've already encountered several restless spirits."

Let's take the bone-walkers down!" He draws a blunted arrow and takes aim at the nearest skeleton he can see. (Through cover)

Nadric stifles a laugh, and then wonders aloud, "But why was it here? Was it guarding something?" To pursue that line of thought he looks around the small shed and it surroundings. "I hope we didn't just slaughter someone's pet."

Nadric nods in satisfaction. "Well handled, Drea. Hey, you can come back now!" he shouts to Penthesilea. He follows Dmitri in the inner room and its eastern door, drawing his bow in readiness for something to jump out at them again.

Nadric has been practically vibrating with excitement all morning, and he has not yet calmed down enough to carefully consider the building in front of them. He gazes at the name inscribed in the wall. "Pentheru... Is that a famous name?" He pauses briefly to consider it himself.

Nadric gets quite excited when the small boy comes in with his announcement. "I am definitely ready! I'll meet you all there!" With that exclamation he rushes out the door and runs to the Grand Mausoleum, hoping to be the first one on the spot.

As they're entering the Tooth and Hookah, Nadric pauses once more to heal himself with the wand.

Feeling refreshed, he joins in the discussion with gusto. He turns towards Drea at their last remarks. "That's right, I had forgotten about that previous tomb robber in all the excitement. I wonder what their story was. I certainly think we were more respectful of the tomb than whoever that was. I took very careful notes of everything we found in the tomb of Akhentepi himself." He smiles proudly.

I already had some gear purchased at level 2, so I'd also like to just refill all my arrows and blunt arrows. Depending on what we're going into next we might need some specialized equipment.

ZAP! Nadric also takes the full blast of electricity as it arcs through him on the way to Drea. He pats himself down to make sure he's not dying, but then his eyes widen as the room starts to flood. He snatches up his wand before it can get washed away. "Sorry everyone, but- I think we need to get out of here!" He hastens into the passageway up to the surface.

"A trap. A trap, is it? We can't just leave it. We'll never know if there was something amazing behind the door. It may be nothing, but then again..." Nadric mutters privately for a few moments, and then he appears to convince himself and draws his own healing wand to mend his wounds.

He then rolls up his sleeves, brings out the tools, and carefully places his wand on the ground at his side. He makes eye contact with several of the others. "If something happens and it looks like I'm dying, use that, alright?" With that melodramatic statement out of the way, he sets to work on the trapped door.

Yes I would still use the cure spell after combat ends.

Nadric pants a little in the aftermath. "Alright, I admit, perhaps touching that sarcophagus was not a good idea. I'm still not sure why it suddenly came to life though."

He wanders over to search the other walls of the room, though he stays a good foot or two away so as not to even brush up against anything this time.

Since he can barely even put a scratch on that thing, Nadric turns his attention instead to aiding his stable but still unconscious ally. He lays a hand on Dmitri's shoulder and channels some healing energy into the man.

Nadric suffers another painful blow and yelps. "Get out of here, you say? I think I can do that!" He waits for an opening and then backs carefully away, towards his ally Dmitri who is unconscious on the ground.

Phew, dodged a metaphorical bullet!

Nadric just barely snatches his hand back out of the way when the animated sarcophagus tries to grab hold of him. "I'm good out here, I have no desire to lie in a sarcophagus before I've lived out my full life, thank you anyway!"

Since he already has the weapon out and it did make a scratch just now, he attacks again with his rapier. Also activating my last round of luck

"Woah, what?!" Nadric jerks back in confusion when the sarcophagus under his hands stops being quite so stationary.

He quickly picks up on the magic at work here. "It's not really alive! It's been magically animated. But this outer shell will be hard to crack, just like the snake and the little statues." (It has hardness 5 unless your weapon is adamantine.)

He pulls out his rapier and tries to stab at it to pin it back down somehow.

"Now, now," Nadric says with both hands outstretched in a conciliatory gesture. "I think Pirro is merely saying that earlier we found reference to his family members being buried in this tomb, and we haven't seen any of them yet, so this must be one of them. It seems like a logical enough assumption to me." He looks closely at the sarcophagus to see if there are any signs to back up the idea.

He'll do whatever he can to investigate the sarcophagus, and then look closely at the northern door to see if it's locked or if it's possible to force it open. If there's nothing along those lines then he's ready to leave.

Nadric's eyes widen at the overwhelming collection of items they find. He moves towards it instinctively, and then halts to mentally go over the rules they were given. He ticks them off on his fingers. "Hmm, honor the departed, yes. This is... Akhentepi himself." He trembles a little at the gravity of the realization that the man's preserved body is right in front of them. "Shall I document everything before we remove them?" He pulls out his journal and an inkpen and carefully makes notes of which valuable items are in which of the chests and bags. "He was truly honored by the ones who buried him here, wasn't he?" Nadric muses somberly.

In the other room that they passed before, he says, "I think we found the main treasure of this place already. Still, no harm in looking around." He does a brief scan of the chamber.

So, I just realized I've been using one of my core mechanisms wrong since the start of this adventure. I get +1 to attack and damage when I activate my archaeologist's luck, but I completely forgot that I have the fate's favored trait so it should have been +2. Mea culpa for getting that wrong, so I'll just use the correct value from here on.

Nadric shudders involuntarily when the mass of bugs appears and then scrambles to keep out of their way. "What an awful method to guard a door," he sighs once they get swept away.

Seeing that Drea has been nibbled on, he moves to offer some magical healing.

If Drea agrees, he'll cast cure light wounds.

"Oh." Nadric lowers his weapon, feeling quite let down. "I guess so."

He brightens a little at the idea of sneaking along a secret tunnel in an ancient Osiriani tomb. "This isn't too bad either," he concedes with a grin as they proceed through it.

(Assuming we pass without incident) He stops to look at the double doors to the east, before going down any more stairs. "Is this one trapped? Probably not, if they didn't expect you to come from this side, right?" But just in case, he takes a minute to inspect the door.

"Got it," Nadric echoes Dmitri's reply in a whisper. Setting up a trap, this is really quite thrilling! He draws his rapier and gets ready to stab the first bug that shows is pointy legs through the opening.

Nadric muses on those words as Kenji and Penthisilea thoroughly clean up the insect life. "You want to be facing horrors from the past? I'm just as well pleased when the long dead are peacefully at rest and leaving us to learn from what remains of their lives. No offense intended," he hastens to add, glancing at Pirro and Zarisha.

Nadric listens with some morbid fascination to Pirro's description of the spirit's state of mind, until Penthesilea interrupts his line of thought. "Ah, right." He hops to attention and pulls out his thieves' tools. "Eeny meeny minie..." At random he moves toward the double doors to the north and tries to get them open.

If that's not enough and there's no consequence for failure, I'll keep going or take 20 until it opens.

Nadric laughs nervously in the silence after Dmitri scatters the sand creature. "I guess I still need to work on my aim a little. But good job Dmitri!"

He enters the next room and spends a few moments gazing around in awe at the columns and the tapestry. "Do you think this spiral pattern means something?" He stands at the center and playfully steps along one of the spiral arms.

He pulls out a blunt arrow and make another attempt at shooting the strange creature of living sand.
