Sorry, all, but I'm going to bow out of this one. It's been over a week with no forward motion and no indication that there's going to be, despite teh stated expectations of most-weekdays posting.

Just found this game. Nacha is a halfling ranger I made for a Tyranny of Dragons game that has not gotten off the ground (I think you know the one!), and I'm interested in finding a different game for her. If selected, I'll want to tweak a few choices but am otherwise ready to go.

"Nacha was it? I would be honored to see those blades in action." The exotic Halfling intrigued Ren and he wondered if he would be able to impress her somehow through the coming days. "It sounds like you'll have the chance soon," Nacha replies with a grim smile. Turning to the guardsman, "Did your report include any numbers on the groups at front and back doors? And all of the groups contain both humans and kobolds? As long as teh armory is on the way to the tunnel, I'm ready to go; we can continue our planning on the move."
"My name is Nacha, and my blades do quite an adequate job of protecting me, sir." Her accent places her as a traveler from some distance, as she fixes Ren with a look of distaste.
Nacha peaks an eyebrow silently at the new arrival before responding to Vaxillis, "If we're to try anything at a distance, I'd like to see about a new weapon from the guard." Gesturing at a longbow comically large for her size, "I had to pick this one up off a dead bandit after losing my own weapon on the road, but it's hardly ideal."
"'Surrounded?' And only the three of us to attempt a counterattack? I'm not sure we could do much good in those odds -- no offense intended." she adds to the others. "but it would be good to capture one of them for questioning. perhaps some of the garrison could add to our numbers?"
Nacha nods, "I've heard kobolds may follow dragons around, but working with...humans? The ones in robes are human, I assume -- I've only seen them from afar."
"Have you any idea what's brought on the attack? There's so much panic and speculation in here I can't make heads or tails. Just a random dragon raid, do you think, or something more?"

At the soldier's mention, a young halfling looks up from where she's aiding in tending the wounded. After quickly finishing up tying a bandage, she walks over to Vaxillis and Ammon, wiping her hands on her rough cloak. "My name is Nacha," she offers. "Wouldn't call myself a 'hero', though--" shooting a look at the soldier, "just happened to be here." She looks the pair over. "You've been in the fighting."
Before I jump in, can I ask about expectations & pacing? Perhaps I should have tracked down the gameplay thread before submitting a character, but it looks like the game has suffered in the past from loooong breaks in play. Is that expected to continue, or has something changed?
This is Murph's Halfling Ranger! The site is being *real* finicky tonight and I've lost a bunch of typing multiple times, so still have to add some things, but basics are here for GM review. Quick 5e newbie question -- can I trade in my class's starting equip. for similar / "worse" versions? As in, Ranger gives me a longbow, but longbows are heavy, so I have disadvantage as a Small character. Am I allowed to take a shortbow instead? Similarly, can I "trade down" my starting scale mail (AC 14+Dex) for a chain shirt (AC 13+Dex) to avoid the stealth disadvantage? |
