With Anna's help I can brew a Potion of Protection From Evil, and then on my own I can brew a Potion of Cure Light Wounds, and Enlarge Person. Total 75g. Leave some time at the end for brewing up some ointment.

"I can't imagine they'd still have a job if they kept following us - it didn't sound like they had Mastrich's approval."
She shakes the dirt out of her hair, and tries to stitch the stab wounds of her clothing back together while Anna greets the day.
"Honestly it's good to know - at least it seems that Mastrich didn't think we double crossed him or something. And if they do - well, I warned them, and we'll need to deal with it. Better them than a demon, though."

Ahahaha, I'll keep that in mind. Don't have any crazy campaign plans on the burner right now, but that does sound fun.

And no, seemed fine - would have gone smoother for me if I remembered half my nice powers, and informed me that I should probably invest in some more potions to use in situations like that.

Naali brandishes a sizzling jar of alchemical explosives in her now scaly claws.
"Listen up! Only reason you're all still alive from the first time is because I wanted to make a deal, and the only reason you're alive now is because I'm still trying to be polite to Mastrich! Don't get it confused, you cross me again and the monsters in this swamp will be the least of your worries!"

I want to ready an action to throw a bomb at anyone that makes a threatening move

PS, I am an idiot and forgot how I built my character - I do have accelerated drinker, and the racial prehensile tail trait that lets me get items from my backpack way faster - it's almost as if I was smart about building my character hahaha

I think her enlarged attacks are at +8, 2d8+7 or +6, 2d8+13 with power attack. Her AC is 21 because enlarged. So many number changes haha

Naali considers answering his question with a bomb - they would remember the feeling, but reconsiders her less than stellar state.
Cure Light Wounds on self: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11 Back up to 26. Used a potion from my backpack.

Naali breathed quick as she pulled out the vial she always tried to avoid. Almost too small to notice, a thimbleful was all Naali could manage to keep down. In a gulp it was gone.

Her mind raced. Though the situation remained dire, every step forward seemed clearer.

Naali drinks her cognatogen, to get +4 INT, +2 Natural Armor (21AC), and -2 Strength for 50 minutes!
I think you'll like my next turn too, hahaha. If they don't find me this turn (while Anna drinks her shield potion!):

Another elixir down the hatch while the thugs searched the smoke for an invisible tiefling. They would have trouble finding a tiefling at all, were she visible - with the pop of bones shifting, and flesh rewarping, what now stood in the clearing was a kobold.

Alter self - I'm no longer an outsider! Also, +2 DEX from alter self, and bonus ac from being small means my AC is now 23! Not an intentional metagame - I would have done it just for the +2 AC anyway, but there definitely aren't any outsiders available with alter self
Then Annas enlarge person on her turn.

Naali tries to work her way through the smoke to find Anna - she can't rightly tell her to come to her.

"Psst! Anna, over here. We can't take them like this - but they'll just keep tracking us if we try to leave. I've got a plan, but we've gotta be quick, start drinking."

Wish I had taken the accelerated drinking trait! Action economy isn't on our side right now

Things were dire - they were outnumbered and wounded already, and these didn't seem the type to take prisoners.
She reached once more into her backpack for her jar of smoke, and uncorked it again.

Should still be invisible since it's not an attack - the eversmoking bottle doesn't specify much rules other than there is lots of smoke, but it might be like obscuring mist? At the very least, concealment.

Anna should shift again to be completely out of the big guy's range

I believe it hahaha. It's going rough for our good pal Naali, though.

Naali yowls in pain as she reels from the arrow and following blow. "Ignore him, we have bigger problems!" Naali shifts to get away from the trapped man and avoid being surrounded.

Naali takes the risk to chug what appears to be an empty vial. With that, she disappears. 5' step away from big boy, then drink and I think AoO from drinking, then Invisibility effect on self.

Wanting Anna to get shift away from the big guy so she doesn't get flanked. Focus on our stabby stabby thin friend.

If needed stealth is 1d20 + 27 ⇒ (8) + 27 = 35 +20=55 if you count her as stationary right now

Naali winces through the pain, and tries to take more steps back before she is surrounded. She takes more care in choosing her surroundings and lobs another bomb at the falchion wielding thug. She is uncharacteristically too focused for a witty retort. 5' step to just try to get out of AoO range from both or the big guy.

Also, I honestly don't know whether the tanglefoot bomb discovery also deals damage. The rules and FAQ are kinda unclear.

Doesn't mention whether it does or does not. A faq says smoke bombs still do damage, but it's up to your interpretation.

If it does, 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (1, 2) + 4 = 7

I'm kinda ambivalent about which interpretation, because one makes tanglefoot way better at combat, but worse at utility stuff, and vice versa.

"Over here!" Naali alerts Anna, shifting to face the two men.

If Naali goes before the men, toss her elixir of Shield. "Drink this!" Naali shouts, tossing Anna a blueish vial before the men can move up.

Would bring her AC up to 23 when she drinks it on her turn. I think in the future I'm gonna track who's holding what elixirs rather than just which are prepared.

She corks the bottle again, dagger at the ready as the smoke slowly dissipates.

I thought it was too cool of a scene to not do it hahaha

Naali reaches into her backpack quietly, watching the edges of the forest as she focuses on what she's looking for - her urgency met with the reliability she's come to rely on from her magical backpack.
With a quick motion she pulls the eversmoking bottle from her bag and twists the stopper off of it. Clouds of dark smoke shoot from the bottle like a cannon, filling the clearing within seconds.

She dives from her seat towards Anna, kicking her awake. "Get your sword."

If there's enough time, she'd also draw her dagger.
The bottle fills a 50' radius area in 1 round, 100' radius in 4 rounds.

Despite not expecting any leprechauns, Naali does fasten their bags on the horses, and finds the most firm ground to start planning the rest of their journey.

There were major routes, and a few structures, right?

Naali ties up the horses to the least rotten stump she can find. "Right, and we should plan where exactly we're going. We could try to head for one of those X's on the map, see if that's at least good information."

"Hey, we might be stuck in a swamp, but at least we don't need to worry about leprechauns stealing our food this time."

"That we could - the gnomes made it well, we could probably get another horse so we don't have to share. As nice as it is, I don't think the horse is too fond of it."

"We might as well go together - I wouldn't want to stay any longer around the swamp than is necessary - that smell is going to be in our lives for the forseeable future." For once in her life, Naali was glad that years of alchemical work had dulled her sense of smell, but there was little that could banish the swamp stink completely.

Want to try to avoid selling to Mastrich/Encvaenves men and just stick to the market if we can

Naali sighs and hops down to lead the horse out of the mud. "Ah well, that was to be expected, I suppose. Should we just leave the cart on the road? I hope the gnomes didn't want it back too much."

"We could try to at least hide cover it up for when we come back, if we think we're lucky enough that nobody will bother to investigate."

Naali would be happy once they left the town. It had been the worst outcome - open ended deals, untrustworthy sorts of people knowing about them. It could only end to make things worse farther down the road. Hopefully that trouble would at least delay until they returned.

Naali snickers quietly. "Don't worry, it's not permanent. Let's get out of here and then if you just focus enough it should run its course over a couple seconds. Don't want to try to hitch the horses when we're disguised."

"No, no, you're right! We can't stay here much longer - I set up a chance to investigate and see if it would be doable, and I did that. It's too busy to check during the daytime, and if Encvaenves is right, then there are magical traps that I didn't even see while I was in there - I'd definitely run into those at night time, and I don't think I could do anything about them. It's too dangerous."

"Besides, we still have to go find our missing researcher, shouldn't dawdle on that either."

"Ahh, you're right. I can't imagine they're suddenly going to leave the door open. I'm wondering what those newer marks on Mastrich's map were."

"Mastrich already admitted he was going to spy on us where we were going, so I can't imagine it's just happenstance."

Naali sighs. "Well it doesn't look like there's any other ways in, just some tiny windows." She shrugs. "If we needed to get bigger, I could do something about that, but as is, it's the front door."

"The guy in charge, Dox, has an office where the safe, is, but it's locked and he has the keys. If he wasn't around, I might be able to get through it all, but it would take time."

"Besides, I couldn't very well leave you out here alone, right? Who knows what trouble a paladin could get into!"

Yes! I've just been bad at posting regularly, my schedule has been hectic and I've fallen out of a lot of my normal routines.
Current goal looks hard, not sure if Naali has a way to finish without resorting to loud combat or waiting time for the right opportunity. Decisions decisions!

Naali sighs a quiet sigh, and squeezes through the main door and back outside. For a master thief, perhaps the safe could be picked quickly enough, but not for her. Not enough time. Too many eyes and ears.

Do locks like that lock automatically like modern locks, or would someone have to manually lock them? I'm wondering if it would be possible to take his keys, close the door and make it seem like he left them there and the door got closed accidentally or something.

Naali thinks to herself. She was not nearly enough of a master of stealth to open a safe when someone was inside the room, nor even open the door to get in. Anna was still outside, with no way to get back in, and Naali's invisibility would wear off soon.

It was time for an escape - she would hate to leave Mastrich with the upper hand in the two battling smugglers, but there was little she could do without throwing bombs around, and making a sure enemy of the dwarf.

She fumbles on the floor looking for a rock, or something to throw at a window - hopefully enough of a ruckus would be made that she could slip back out of the door.

Naali freezes after quietly shuffling out of his path, and intently watches the halfling. Encvaenves had warned of traps - perhaps the halfling knew how to bypass them.
