Improving the leader with levels helps,
and try running the grunts as Troop/Swarms

I had our group of 12th level Mythic Tier 2 party
run into a Gnoll tribe on the migration,
ran them as 12 "man" Troops/Mobs,
and had a surprisingly fun and near run battle

150 dead Gnolls, the remainder scattered to the winds,
the party sucking on the life Oracle and potions trying to heal the 400+ hit points they took!

I'm in a Kingmaker campaign right now,
running a Master Summoner, has been very useful
for combat and variety/versatility.

We have a couple of rougues for exploration,
but would have been better with a Ranger/Druid type

A dedicated caster would be very helpfull as well

We ruled that you could have 2 in plains, but only 1 in other terrain.
Think of them as collections of multiple farms and hamlets.

I proposed a house rule that development increases how many farms you can have in a hex: roads adds 1 more, and highway a further 1 more.
Possibly also watchtower/fort should add 1 more.
Think of it as building a more robust infrastructure that can support more small farmsteads.

Same with fisheries.

Still haven't convinced the GM

:)

Look for the 3.5 "Heroes of Battle" book,
had a lot of very good info for PC activity within and around mass combat!

As a player of tournament mass combat games, I agree the PF system
has many flaws...

I've heard of using the "troop" subtype for battles
but I haven't been able to find the rules for that..

I'll take a look at your mods when I get some down time,
Keep playing and tweaking them!
Make them fun for you and the players, and it can't be wrong

My Sap Master had a pair of Gloves of TrueStrike made...
1/day, but when you HAVE to hit!...

I agree with Druid or Summoner
Good versatility that will be needed

I'm running a Master Summoner in our Kingmaker Campaign (Book 3)
and he's been good fun!

One thing I did was take Leadership as my 7th level feat,
took a healer as my Cohort (Oracle of Life)
as none of the group was healers...
Has come in VERY handy!

HI,
planning on running a module for the group,
one encounter can cast Creeping doom and insect plague.

Would you allow the two swarms to co-occupy a square?
The creeping doom centipedes are on the ground,
the insect plague wasp swarms are flying.

Since they are both summoned by the same creature,
would they ignore each other and their effects stack against
the characters?
(6d6 of swarm auto damage...plus poison, plus distraction)

A pretty nasty villain, and a mean encounter set-up
(10 foot wide corridor filled with obscuring mists)
where this guy appears
but it is a group of 12th-13th level characters...

appreciate the help!

Thanks guys!
That clears that up and helps a lot!

Hi all,

We've got a Sorcerer-Rogue concept working in our campaign,
but wonder how the sneak attack stacks on spell damage,

Rays and ranged touch make sense,
but I'm worried about Magic Missile delivering the sneak attack,
since there is no "to hit" roll.

And how would this concept work with area effect spells?
Obviously only one target gets hit by the sneak attack damage,
but does this allow an auto hit to deliver the sneak attack damage?

Any advice/clarification will be greatly appreciated!
