"Why would you want to live? Go out like a hero and head to the Elysium Fields before you have a chance to spoil it." the Daughter of Hades suggested. She... probably wasn't the best person to talk to if you were interested in staying alive. Now, death she could help with, but not so much the avoiding it bit. She knew Thanatos, and was quite aware of how difficult it could be to escape his tough.

Myrrine calmly continued to watch the violence, rather enjoying what she saw. This was their dispute, after all, and she was more than happy to settle down and let them handle it on their own.

Myrrine blinked slightly. Well, her magic wasn't exactly long-range (not that she'd talk about it that way to any mere mortals), so she contented herself with watching as the Gnolls got closer. After all, there wasn't much else for her to do.

If she'd been Thanatos' daughter, Myrrine might have been offended... but her family ruled over those already dead, and were actually fairly relaxed about directly causing the deaths. Besides, punishing people was far more entertaining then simply sending them to join the other restful souls. On the other hand... "To clarify, he was the killer." Myrrine said, pointing to Draco. "The rest of us didn't support his actions or know he was going to go that far." While she spoke, she used just a bit of the techniques for charming that she'd been taught. It probably wouldn't hurt to be in good standing with the local rulers. Diplomacy (Influence Attitude): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23

Myrrine blinked. "I already told you what to do. I'm not going to waste words on someone who won't listen." she was not, in the technical sense, a good person. She didn't really care about overall goodness, or helping others solve their problem. That was their responsibility, and like her father, she had an ideology of strictly limited involvement. It was one thing if people made it personal, but until that point, she'd keep her advice mild. Going to see the King was a good choice - it might even work.

She could get used to the whole tearful obedience thing. Still, if somebody wanted to ask her for advice... "If you screw up, act like a man and seek to make amends without complaint. The Gods are usually lenient to those who make a serious effort to repay their debts. Unless, you know, you offend them personally or something." In which case you were just flat-out doomed. A whole section of Tartarus was reserved for people like that. Still, even those who had to offer their life as repayment could be assured of a better afterlife, particularly if they faced their death with dignity. She nodded to the other men a moment later. "Yeah, go with them and let the King decide. That's his job anyway."

I think you're going to have some new residents soon, Father... Myrrine thought as she watched the boys do their things. Hades was a major believer in appropriate punishments, most of which were actually rather entertaining. For her, anyway - not so funny for those experiencing them. That was the point.

Myrrine blinked a few times as the group approached, then put another grape in her mouth. Trying to run now would just make them look guilty of something - and there was no way she could outrun grown men if they actually wanted to chase her down. Besides, that was undignified - best to talk to them and get it resolved.

A noise that might have been a laugh escaped from Myrrine's mouth at Agraxas' bold statement of intent. Boy, was he in for a surprise... she didn't take his hand, though. Myrrine wasn't very big on any kind of personal contact with living things unless she was about to sacrifice them. Simply feeling the vitality of others gave her certain urges, mostly in regards to snuffing it out, and she'd long since decided to try and hold back on that. It wasn't that her father (or his servant, Thanatos) objected to death in general, exactly, but some times were more appropriate for it than others.

The girl smiled back. "My father is Hades, Lord of the Dead." she answered, popping another grape into her mouth. "You should keep that in mind before... trying anything." She'd leave it to him to decide what exactly that meant.

"Ask Daddy." Myrrine said flatly, though she didn't seem to be offended. For her, it was just a routine thing to remind people of, and how they reacted tended to tell her a lot about what sort of person they were. Her stepmother had been very clear that some men were better than others, and those honestly willing to go through great difficulties on your behalf were far better than those who just wanted what could be achieved with ease.

Myrrine raised an eyebrow. So he hadn't been taught, he hadn't thought... well, that was men for you. Willingness to learn was good, but she sort of doubted he'd learn in time to avoid retribution from someone... which was just fine in her book.

"...Nope. Nothing to say, really. Go on, keep attacking the people who agreed to leave in peace and not bother you anymore. I'm sure it'll work out wonderfully." Myrrine said, a small smile on her face. She was happy to watch others get in trouble and be punished for their crimes, and her extended family could get VERY creative with their punishments. Who was she to hold people back if getting that punishment was what they really wanted to do?

May I suggest using these OOC tags when speaking about mechanics? Helps keep things in order so we know what's in-game and what isn't. Women weren't allowed to vote - besides, they weren't even in Athens right now. Otherwise, Myrrine probably would have raised her hand in favor of that particular suggestion. After all, she had been the one to tell them to leave, so in a way, it was her honor that was being insulted by the violation of attacking a fleeing party. She popped a grape into her mouth and bit into it, letting the juices flow over her tongue while she thought. Honestly, she didn't care that much, but putting some pressure on Draco might be an amusing diversion and give her a better foothold for later. It wouldn't do for a mere human to think they could get away with insulting the honor of the children of the Olympians... in fact, she'd probably be saving him from some suitably appropriate punishment later on if she reprimanded him now. ... Which she wasn't actually motivated to do. He could take responsibility for his own actions; she wasn't going to actively hurt him unless he bothered her, but she wasn't going to go too far out of her way to help him, either. Instead, she simply popped another grape into her mouth.

"Well, that's that." Myrrine said, not impressed by the evident lack of willpower the creatures had. Of course, such mundane beings weren't much against the powers of the gods, but still. She quietly began heading back to the place where the food was - she'd already fed, but maybe some sweeter fruit would help wash away the foul taste of dealing with monsters of that type. Now that the matter was resolved, it seemed like she was rapidly losing interest in it.

Myrrine quietly shuffled behind the boys as the monsters kept talking, whispering under her breath to help focus her power. A moment later, she focused her attention on the lead gnoll once again. "However... come on, face it, you're not in your lands anymore. Why not just head on back to your own territory instead of provoking an incident? Your queen might not be too happy with you if a bunch of angry humans start coming for revenge. Just tell her that a bunch of armed humans were passing by, and you didn't have the numbers to take them on. Then you won't look incompetent and can just go back to... whatever it is you normally do. As a favor to me?" Diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26

"Maybe they were having a bad day?" Myrrine suggested. That aside, though, these rampaging... things... were kind of annoying her. She glanced their way a moment later, a foul look on her face. "I don't really care what happened between you. Stop ruining my day and get out of here before I hurt you." she told the one in front. She'd at least give them a chance - she wasn't so motivated that she was going to keep attacking them without giving them a chance to surrender, but she didn't really like putting up with nonsense, either. They had a fair chance to leave in peace, and that was probably all they were going to get from her. Intimidate (Demoralize): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15 @Draco: Myrrine has a very simple policy for love interests. Anyone who wants to woo her must either get permission from her father or be rejected without consideration. ^^

Myrrine had never been a boy - but that was largely immaterial when compared to the matter at hand. Namely, the fact that someone they knew was in trouble and was possibly going to die. Whiiiiiiich wasn't exactly a bad thing from her perspective, considering they'd just get to rest for eternity, away from pain and torment. It was kind of a mercy, really. Still, other people tended to get very weird about this sort of thing... sighing slightly, she muttered a bit and flicked her finger towards the lead gnoll. Her heart wasn't really in this, but a minimal showing of effort would probably keep the others off her back. Cast: Acid Splash

"What's the point? You're all going to end up with daddy anyway." Myrrine said, seeming rather disinterested in other people's joy at being alive. "I suppose I could understand if your goal was to get to the Elysium Fields and find something even better, but..." People who focused on their lives were just so strange. What kind of mentality was that, anyway?

Myrrine quietly dabbed at the area around her mouth with a bit of cloth - the red ring was a testament to the way she often ate meals, usually hanging around the cooks right when they butchered the animal so that she could partake of its essence. She had this... well... thing about death. "Personally, I prefer having stone above me." Also, she was probably going to smack Lycaneus if he went on like one of the poets without getting some more training first. Used: The Blood is the Life for Lunch. 7 uses remaining today.

Familiar: Malvolio (chameleon) Description: Sool is a middle-aged silver-haired elf. He has a long face with distinctively long ears and wears a long delicate goatee from his chin. His clothing is patched and unimpressive. He gives the impression of not being entirely well, with a host of minor health ailments, though he doesn't openly complain about them. For instance, his teeth appear to bother him, and he avoids tough foods. His familiar Malvolio is a small black and silver chameleon that clings to his clothing and slowly meanders about his body during the day. Sool is reserved and distant, neither friendly nor unfriendly to other people. He seems to avoid contact and his conversation can be awkward -- it's clear he's brilliant about certain topics and can be coaxed into long pronouncements on certain subjects, like art and philosophy and arcane theories, but he rarely spares people's feelings. He can be brutally honest and cold and rarely considers others feelings. He seems lonely and yet he seems to prefer being alone. |
