EARLY LIFE

Myrrine's story started some time before she was born. Divine relationships with mortals were nothing particularly uncommon, but some gods were far more open than others. Zeus and Aphrodite were the most famously so... and goddeses like Artemis were rather less interested in such affairs. However, one relationship was known to just about everyone: Hades and Persephone. Some believed that Persephone had wanted to go (and her Mother was just being too protective), some believed it was forced upon her, but whatever the truth was, Hades happened to be a rather devoted husband and didn't exactly look at any women besides his fair bride.

This devotion might have had something to do with his blazing rage when he found out that a mortal sorceress had gotten him drunk when he'd passed through her lands (on the way back from a journey to Olympus) and slept with him when he was too senseless to know better. Hades vowed revenge, but she'd hidden herself long enough bear his child to term, apparently hoping that bearing his child would give her a place among the gods. That... didn't work out too well. No mortal can hide from a god that truly wants to find them, though, and this is especially true when the god doing the searching is Thanatos, the God of Death himself. At Hades' command, Thanatos slew Myrrine's mother, only to uncover the child a few moments later.

Persephone turned to Hades and begged for mercy, asking Hades not to be like his own father in ordering the death of his child. It may have been this memory that moved him - and besides, the child was a daughter, not a son who might usurp his throne. Hades relented, and Thanatos carried Myrrine to a special area where she could be raised with children not so different from her.

ADOLESCENCE

As Myrrine has aged, she's had time to see a lot of other children being raised up and taught lessons. Some have been... more pleasant than others. She has no siblings of her own, since Hades has always been more about watching the dead than creating the living, and that's put her in a slightly awkward position. In fact, she has a bit of a hard time truly bonding with others, since she's been able to see everyone else partner up, argue, compete, and generally do all sorts of things... as a family.

This is the main cause for concern among the members of the camp, though at least there is hope - Myrrine has repeatedly demonstrated that she prefers the company of those who are warm and welcoming no matter who someone's parents are, and seems to slightly idolize Hercules for the things he's been able to accomplish.

FAMILY

As a child of one of the Olympians, Myrrine is related (closely or distantly) to almost every divine figure in the land. Most of them don't really stay in touch with her, but she can usually get at least some acknowledgment, if only because most people would rather not make her father angry.

Myrrine has started to slow down in terms of aging, and may have the spark of true immortality within her - and as a neutral and somewhat serious person, she's come to accept her biological mother's death and appreciate what was done for her. She gets along quite well with both Hades and Persephone, has occasionally played ball with Cerberus, and is fully aware of the fact that all entities of the realm of the dead are under strict orders to not harm her. Having an Olympian as a parent has its advantages... though it's really only meaningful when she's on a trip home, since most denizens of that land aren't on the surface to begin with.

She is, however, abjectly terrified of Demeter. Having a god angry at her would be one thing - even dying wouldn't really bother her too much, considering she'd just get to be with her father and step-mother full-time. No, the problem is that Demeter, famously overbearing mother of Persephone, -likes- her. After all, she might be the only grandchild that Demeter's ever going to get. The goddess is all too happy to shower love and affection on Myrrine whenever they meet; the girl would much prefer to be left alone instead of being half-smothered by someone who's the most over-the-top aunt imaginable whenever the two are in close proximity. Fortunately, like many deities, Demeter has a relatively narrow focus on the things in front of her - Myrrine's usually out of mind whenever she's also out of sight, and the daughter of Hades goes to great lengths to keep it that way.
