Game System: Pathfinder Society
Name of PC: Myrlan Dai
Class/Level: Sorcerer 10
Adventure: The Refuge of Time
Catalyst: Party being overwhelmed by creatures conjured with multiple Summon Monster IV

Story: I try to behave when playing Myrlan. Nobody wants to just sit and be along while a summoning specialist steals the show. But when our party of intrepid Pathfinders was about to be overrun by dinosaurs summoned by Runemage Naroth Balam my local VL, who was playing with us that day, turns toward me and says, "Bring the pain, Myral."

"Ladies and gentlemen, elementals of all ages, follow the spotlights and see what fills the center ring! Release the hounds!" Ten lantern archons, 4 medium earth elementals, 2 large earth elementals, 3 large air elementals, and 3 hound archons later Balam lay dead at our feet. It took about 7 round to summon everything, but it was glorious. Glorious. I finally got to be my own one man circus show.

52. Kobold infestation. You never can find all of them (kobolds or the traps they set).

Silver Crusade

Okay, ya'll convinced me. Dimension Door now, Black Tentacles later.

Still not sure what feat to get yet. But will think on that more later.

Silver Crusade

I may pick up a spell page with Dim Door on it for good measure and I tend to pick up a scroll of fly if I expect to need mobility. So many options and not enough spell slots.

Silver Crusade

Yes, I accidentally had Augment Summoning listed twice, but have the correct number of feats for 8th level. Fixed it now. I am considering Superior Summoning as my feat; but I'm just not sold yet. I want to study my other options first.

I do note that Evolved Summoned Monster specifically requires that you have Summon Monster I as a prereq (which I do not); and only affects one summoned creature, not all creatures summoned. SO I don't think I will go with that at this time.

I think I've picked my three spells. For the moment I have selected Gliterdust, Mad Monkeys, and Black Tentacles. I know, I know. GMs hate it when you cast Black Tentacles, but it's just a damned good area control spell.

Silver Crusade

Are there any feats that give summoned creatures energy resistance? Energy damage seems to be the one issue I have when summoning creatures.

Silver Crusade

My tiefling abysal sorcerer is leveling up to ninth level. Any good advice for new spells? I gain a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th level spell and pick up stoneskin as a bloodline spell. Here is Myrlan's current spell casting list;

Spells: ∞/8/8/7/4 Base DC: 17
0 - Acid Splash (c), Detect Magic, Disrupt Undead, Ghost Sound, Message, Open/Close, Prestidigitation, Resistance
1 - Cause Fear*, Ray of Enfeeblement, Shield, Shocking Grasp, Snapdragon Fireworks, Vanish
2 - Bull's Strength*, Acid Arrow (c), Scorching Ray, Summon Monster II (c)
3 - Haste, Rage*, Summon Monster III** (c)
4 - Summon Monster IV (c)

Myrlan's usual tactics are to vanish in the first round then buff players or summon combat support. I could use some good advice for spells to boost PCs and summoned creatures. I do have Spell Focus Conjuration and Augment Summoning as feats; and will probably take Superior Summoning this level.

The next time someone does this in my game they are losing their turn, I swear to the gods...

Fer cryin' out loud! It's a full round spell, they should have been looking already!!! Let me turn the elementals lose, boss. Let me turn the elementals loose ans show them how it's done@

Silver Crusade

You are as droll as ever, Qakisst. I sometimes wonder why we share the same player's head.

Silver Crusade

Yeah, that's why we only play once a month and try to make it a set Friday. Then everybody can plan around that schedule.

Silver Crusade

Our home group in Xenia meets the 2nd Friday of each month at my house. And yes, we have space right now. We have a GM and 4 players with various levels of experience. The party just made 4th level, so we're not too deep into the game at the moment.

I should be at Epic Loot on the 1st, hit me up if you want to know more.

Silver Crusade

Xenia Ohio. You remember my Sorcerer, Myrlan. We conjured a nearly endless supply of elementals together last fall at Epic Loot.

What you need is more me in your games. :)

Pet Peeve number 1: GMs that hate it that I dumped Con. I'm a sorcerer; and I stay out of the way and out of combat. I have an AC of 26, ER for all 4 major energy types, I buff and support the fighters, scout the enemy, make optimal use of all my skills and spells, and in an emergency bring on the summons to help out. If somebody slips through the ranks and takes a stab at me, I fall down and bluff the s~+# out of them (No really, I'm dead. Just ignore me.). Having 40 plus hitpoints at 7th level for a complete non-com is a waste of resources when you're not going to get hit.

Now stop telling me I have to have a +2 Con mod to survive! I'm 7th level now and 23 HP is more than enough for me!

Silver Crusade 4/5

Oh, and as several people up stream pointed out; be a team player. Even a selfish and cowardly bastard of a character like Myrlan Dai realizes that he gains more if he helps everybody else survive. He can still have all his own goals and motivations; but if the three guys in front of him die because I didn't want to have him boost their abilities then I've lost the character for nothing.

Silver Crusade 4/5

I play a sorcerer with a Con of 8 and a Str of 7, have managed to survive to level 7 without problem. My first PFS GM for this character told me I'd never get the character past 2nd level. Did not use toughness and the only rebuilding I did at 1st level was to swap out feats that proved less useful than I thought they would.

Smart play, a good build, and thoughtful spell selection got me through 1st level without a problem. Just have a good build concept for your character and play smart. A wand of mage armor helps too; I think I've still got around 25 charges on the one I picked up with my first 2PP.

Silver Crusade

Once more unto the breach. I fully expect that today's Society game will see another appearance of 'Tim?' the Absalom Strangler.

Silver Crusade

That's awesome for home games, but the game referred to here was a Society game so the GM did not have that option.

I read the spoiler.

Epic Loot, last Sunday (19 Oct)? Has to be. The description is too perfect. I was the other sorcerer.

Silver Crusade

I'm racking them up under all my identities this year. This one is from Legacy of the Stonelords at Gen Con 2014. Since I don't want to spoil the fun for anybody that gets to play it later in the convention season...

Stonelords:

We made it all the way through the sky citadel Jormurdun and back to the foundry where the dwarven forge master requires you to make his friend laugh. His friend is of course the fire elemental that powers the dwarven foundry. Nobody in our party is a bard or has any kind of perform skills, and nobody can figure out what you could possibly do to make an elemental laugh.

So, out of ideas my tiefling sorcerer walks up to the dwarven smith, kneels down and grabs him by the ears and kisses him full on the mouth, then says, "Hi honey, I'm home!"

The entire table busts up, but the DM still requires a performance check. I roll a 1. However, I had made it through the entire night without using my re-roll. The re-roll is a nat 20 (yeah, I know. I didn't believe it either and I rolled it). That gave me a 24 on a perform comedy check, and apparently I get love letters from ancient Jormurdun now.

One of the best Gen Con game moments I have ever had.

The DM also marked my Chronicle sheet, "Impressive Performance." So I must have done something right besides surviving the 80 foot fall with only 20 HP at 6th level.

Silver Crusade 4/5

In the rush between events and after events I did not see this written on my chronicle sheet until I got home from Gen Con. Thought I should say thanks. Written near the bottom of the sheet in the DM's handwriting it says, "Impressive Performance." I can only imagine that this is for my tiefling sorcerer kissing the dwarven smith and saying, "Hi honey, I'm home!"

Thank you Capt LeDon Sweeney of Iowa City.

The next time I am at my parents I shall attempt to visit the Iowa City lodge.

Silver Crusade 4/5

My Legacy table has been on my Sessions list for over a week. The only game missing from my page is The Paths We Chose.

And I got a double posting of my Bone Keep 3 table (which was an embarrassing escape with our lives kind of situation). I certainly don't need two reminders of that one.

Silver Crusade 4/5

So I like the fill-able form for the Tracking Sheet, but can you add a second page? I had that filled up by 5th level with expendables and all.
