I'm still with Sefu. Feeling a bit anxious about trying to climb down a ladder with the mother of bad-luckies standing JUST over there! ;) Mus'ad licks his lips nervously as he covers the makeshift structure with his crossbow. He glances at the rest of the group and the nearly silent preparations, and tightens his grip when Bashad starts to actually climb and begin his attack on the gremlins hideout,...
Mus'ad nods his agreement, looking relieved not to risk burning the place down with him still in it! "Keep a sharp eye open Zephyr." He instructs his Gen as he reloads his crossbow and covers the others as they move to try Bashad's suggestion. Zephyr once again performs his mid-air bow. "Of course master! None shall escape the vigilance of Zephyr! I defy any creature to sneak up on you while I stand watch!" The tiny blue skinned man replies emphatically.
And I'm back! ;P Crazy week! I THINK that Mus'ad loaded his crossbow before dropping it (on it's strap), and pulling the club, so he should be ok, Mus'ad, seeing Sefu finish the dazed gremlin with a distinctive crunch, gives the shifter a wan smile. He is brought back to the present by the barrage of tiny arrows flying at them both from the rafters. Mus'ad reflects idly that he must have been standing behind Sefu, as he is somehow untouched, and Sefu seems to be badly wounded. "With them around, that luck can;t last long!" The Sha'ir mutters as he drops his clubs and lifts his crossbow from where it hangs on its carry strap. HE aims at the nearest gremlin on the rafters as the priestess glows with a golden radiance. "SOMEbody please bless my aim!!!" He mutters fervently as he aims carefully, takes a deep breath, and gently squeezes the trigger,... 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 191d8 ⇒ 41d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 151d8 ⇒ 1
"Oh no you don't!" Mus'ad mutters as the gremlin at his feet starts to move. He drops his crossbow, letting it hang from his shoulder by it's carry strap, and pulls his club from his belt. Grabbing it in both hands, he swings it down onto the prone pug's head,... Is this a Coup de grace/ or a standard attack? Unadjusted to hit and dmg rolls. 1d20 ⇒ 141d6 ⇒ 31d20 ⇒ 201d6 ⇒ 5
There is just one with Sefu and I on the choir loft? And Sefu is in biting action with him? I shall aim at one farther away that is not in close combat. One of the ones in the rafters if I can. Mus'ad hastily cranks his crossbow and reloads it again. He starts to aim at the nearest Pug, but doesn't wish to risk hitting Sefu with the Pug's Machiavellian influence. He aims at the nearest Gremlin in the rafters, whispers a short prayer to whatever power might be listening, and fires,... 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 181d8 ⇒ 41d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 91d8 ⇒ 5 Mus'ad speaks a single, guttural word in a language you don't recognize. Even without knowing the language, the tone conveys an entire world of meaning about what the half-elf thinks of the obnoxious gremlins, and their ancestors,... I theenk eye meesed! ;P

Thank you for the reminder. But except for a few Cantrips, I have cast my total # of spells for the day. :P Mus'ad curses as his bolt narrowly misses his target, And hastily begins winding up his crossbow once more. The half-elf glances around, desperately looking for an idea, anything, to aid them and take away the Pug's evil influence. He notices that the Small creature's movement through the area have done nothing to the collection of dirt, debris and dust that they have seen throughout the entire facility. His eyes widen as he stops winding his crossbow, and one can almost see the lantern light unshuttered over his head. "If you can't take away their influence, add your own." He mutters barely loud enough for Sefu and Zephyr to hear. "Zephyr! Dust Cloud! They can't hit what they can't see!" He shouts a little too loudly in his excitement. With a simple mental effort, he casts his spell of training that allows him to preform minor magics for an hour. He waves his hand and blows softly towards the pugs. The dust in front of them begins to stir. Zephyr, hanging in the air at Mus'ad's shoulder, straightens and performs a swift but still flourishing bow. "Your wish is my command master! A storm to rival the clashing of the titans!" He cries, and zips forward, his tiny windstream further stirring up the dust and trying to blow it into the faces of the small jackal-faced creatures. "Feel the fury of the Djinn!" The tiny blue man cries in defiance as he kicks a clump of debris towards the pugs. Cast Prestidigitation. As Zephyr is Tiny, And the pugs have no reach, they do not get an attack on him. He is so small that he must enter the opponents square to attack or provoke an attack. (Yay!)
Sorry, it is a new round, right? SIghting carefully, Mus'ad tells himself to stay calm, and takes his time with his aim, before loosing his bolt at the nearest clear shot he has,... FIre crossbow, move action reload (unless they come for me, then I will try to move away!)
When the next round begins, Mus'ad's move action (unless he directly threatened!) will be to reload his crossbow, then fire it at the nearest Pug. Mus'ad pulls out bolt and picks up his crossbow from where it hangs by his side on it;s carry-strap. "Keep an eye out Zephyr!" He mutters nervously as he hastens to fumble the bolt into place. After what seems like forever he has the crossbow loaded and wound, and raises it to his shoulder. "I'll cover you Sefu, as best I can,..." He adds wryly to the hunter as he scans for a likely target.
Oops, sorry, forgot that I already posted my shots for this round! Got ahead of myself there. Yes, I'll start climbing up the ladder. AFter Sefu (And anyone else who wanted to start climbing this round, I'll follow) And I meant that Zephyr would 'peek' up this round, using his tiny size and the edge for cover. But since he's brave to the point of foolishness, This is funnier! :) Mus'ad lets his crossbow dangle from it's carry strap as he moves to the ladder and hastens up it as fast as he can. Zephyr floats past both Mus'ad and Sefu till he is level with the remains of the choir loft. There, tiny arms crossed and a look of disdain upon his minuscule features, he floats staring at the Pugwampis'. "Surrender!" The tiny man cries in what would undoubtedly be a thundering Bass,... if he were 6' tall. But sounds like a mouse on Bulls Strength now. "Surrender!" He repeats loudly, "Or my master shall blast you to oblivion! Throw yourself upon his mercy, and perhaps he shall grant you leave to return to the rocks which you crawled out from under!" The tiny blue man cries, gesturing imperiously. After an exchange of confused glances, the reply is a volley of small arrows, which Zephyr manages to dodge adroitly. "Zephyr!" Mus'ad cries in panic as the shafts fly. Seeing the blue figure is uninjured, and unimpressed with the PUgwampis' aim, he sighs in relief. "Zephyr! Remember! Use cover! They aren't smart enough to fear you!" Mus'ad hisses from his own precarious perch. Zephyr looks dismayed, but bows his head. "Oh, yes, of course. Forgive me master. I had forgotten that the lesser races have not yet learned respect for Gen-kind. Would you do me the honor of explaining it to them?,... PAinfully?" The little man humbly requests. "Of course Zephyr, it would be my honor." Mus'ad replies.
CLimb teh rest of the way up, (hopefully 'safely' behind Sefu) and blast any pugs within 15' with my Color Spray! (15' cone) If there are none within that range, I will reload my crossbow, unless threatened, of course.
Mus'ad will take a shot, and cross his fingers. Then he will move to the ladder and begin climbing with his move action. Zephyr will be flying, but only far enough ahead (5'?) to peek over the top and warn MUs'ad of what he going to run into BEFORE he sticks his head into a hornets nest! Mus'ad sighs, a brief, fervent prayer to the gods of luck for which he is named, and lets his bolt fly towards the nearest Pug on the rafters. Two Crossbow rolls:
MUs'ad takes a quick inhale in excitement as it seems that his bolt arcs where he actually aimed it, possibly unaffected by the Pug's unluck magics,...
Awesome! Thx! It's too bad you can't get temp HP from Heal spells. That roll alone was more than my max! ;) Mus'ad blinks in surprise as Farasha dashes over to where he stands and places her hand on his shoulder. He gasps in surprise as the healing energies sweep through him, removing all of his major wounds, minor scrapes, and fatigue. He turns his head and grins at the cleric. "My most sincere appreciation Holy warrior! I feel like I could take on these creatures all by myself now!" HE laughs. He won't, of course, but he feels great! :)
Mus'ad flinches reflexively as the hail of tiny arrows fly from above him to strike his friends. "Oh, camel cr@p!" he mutters vehemently, eyes wide with panic, as the situation sinks in. He carefully sights at the nest for a target, knowing it will not be easy. "Zephyr! The rainbow spray spell, I have to be close! Do you see any other way up to the loft?" He asks his tiny companion as he sights carefully at his chosen target. Is there a Pug I can target with my crossbow? On the nest or rafters? I presume that the ones right above me I can't see. If there is, I'll take my shot, then start following Sefu up to the loft. (Allowing any others who are going to climb up this turn to go first!) ACK! I just realized, I'm down to 2 HP! one hit and i'm a half-elf on toast! ;P 1st att: 1d20+2=18, 1d8=2, 2nd attempt:1d20+2=9, 1d8=1 I'm pretty sure that's a miss!

"Agreed, let us make sure there is no other exits here first. Zephyr, the walls please?" Mus'ad asks his companion for assistance as he quickly begins looking around the walls for another secret door,... Mus'ad search: 1d20+3=8, Zephyr: 1d20+3=15 But the half-elf is obviously being more concerned with where he steps than where he is looking, and his companion giggles at his antics, then hurriedly becomes solemn, and gives the walls at least a cursory inspection,... SIghing, Mus'ad exits the room, and readies his crossbow, ready to follow,....

Mus'ad nods his agreement, then looks at the feline form of Sefu. "After you?!" He says with a grin. I guess we should check and make SURE it's undiscovered, right? And there may be another secret door to the room, so we may be able to use it to sneak up on them!

Mus'ad grins, wryly, at his tiny friend. He puts the items they found in a bag and, flicking most of the garbage from his fingers, he makes his way to the wall where Zephyr happily floats. "Well-done O most mighty of Gen! Truly I am the most fortunate of Sha'ir to have gained your service! Whatever would do without you?" He praises the gen both honestly and effusively, as befits both his tiny companions ego, and faithful service. His sharp elvish elvish eyes easily sees the seam of the door now that Zephyr has pointed it out to him. He waves the others closer and points out the doorway to them as well. "Well, it seems undisturbed." He whispers to the others. "So is it safe to presume that those who now inhabit this ruin do not know of this passage? Perhaps we can use it to surprise them?" Who wants to be the 'official' treasure-keeper? When time permits the group, I want to use Detect Magic on the bowl and the metal tube. It may just be an expensive wind chime, but it may be a magic wand, who knows?!? :)
Nasir al' Shahaadi wrote: "Well, you all certainly know how to make a girl feel safe." Mus'ad grins in response, as much from nervous relief as anything else, and salaams. "We live but to serve, noble lady!" He says with a smile as Zephyr also bows from the waist, floating once again over the Shai'r's shoulder. Farasha wrote:
HE looks to the Warrior priestess and nods. "As long as there aren't too many surprises like these." HE says, touching the meager remains of Farasha's obliterated stirge. "Nasty creatures these, we got very lucky. Once they latch on, they are difficult to remove."
Mus'ad looks for a target, and sees too many! With a whispered prayer to whatever deity may feel like listening, he drops his crossbow, yanks out his precious Jambiyah, and steps up and swings at the nearest stirge before he loses his courage! Firing into melee NOT fun! Mus'ad will drop crossbow, pull Jambiyah, 5'step and attack the nearest stirge NOT currently attached. If flanking applies, total would be 16 to hit, and 2 pts dmg.
"Stirges Master," Zephyr replies as he hangs onto the half-elf's hair to keep up with him as he escapes the doorway. "Nasty creatures." Mus'ad nods in agreement, then his eyes widen as he stops loading his crossbow for a heartbeat. "Ware!" he hisses to his companions, trying not to be TOO loud. "They're bloodsuckers! Don't let them get close!"
Mus'ad gives a small squeak of alarm at the creatures appearance and approach. HE hastily raises his crossbow and fires it at the closest creature, then steps to the side of the doorway for shelter, and reloads his crossbow. "Zephyr, what are those things?!?" He mutters as he fumbles with the bolt. Start in LL28, (I was in doorway watching Al,) fire crossbow, 5' step to LL27 for shelter. Move action to reload crossbow. And knowledge check(s) to ID critter. Grr, IC still down (Or is it just me?!?) Can someone please roll for Mus'ad? Attack with Crossbow, +2 to hit, 1d6dmg. Thank you! EDIT-Oops, just noticed that Farasha claimed LL28. Can she move there AFTER I fire and scoot out of the way? SHe was probably behind me, and took a 5' step to move up maybe?

Mus'ad nods in quiet agreement, then smiles mischievously. "Fortunate they are then, that we happen to be bringing them the cure!" He whispers with a smile, patting his crossbow. "So, this room looks pretty thoroughly,... searched." HE finishes politely. "Where to next?" He gives the statue a strange look, then digs into his pouch and takes out a single gold coin, and places it in the scarred hands of the statue. He steps back, and looks at his companions. "Well, it can't hurt. And I'll take all the luck I can get with those pugs around!" He offers by way of explanation.
(Presumably) Getting the all-clear, or at least 'it's safe' signal from Al, Mus'ad waves once more at the others behind him to follow, and cautiously follows Al into the room. He looks around the shrine with obvious interest and appreciation, especially at the scenes of heroism depicted in the murals. And once more stifles a grin at Zephyr's puffed up chest at seeing obviously genie-powered magics depicted in the murals. The half-elf stops and looks at the scarred statue with a puzzled look. Shaking his head in wonder. "I don't approve of theft, but I can at least understand it. But WHY would anyone try to destroy something they cannot take? It makes no sense. Unles it were enemies of the faith I suppose." He whispers to Al as he looks at the statue. He shrugs, then looks at the statue once more. "Do you suppose that the statue was holding something, and it's been stolen? It looks like it's expecting something, was that where the petitioners placed their offerings maybe?" He asks in a whisper, and looks over his shoulder to see if the others are coming, hoping perhaps Farasha might know,...
Mus'ad slowly and carefully follows Al and presumably the others? as he walks along the edge of the room. While the short scout peers out into the hallway, Mus'ad takes another look at the new mural, pursing his lips and nodding appreciatively at the work. Floating silently above his shoulder, tiny Zephyr visibly puffs up and looks either important, or pleased, as he gazes upon the visage of the Djinni Princess.
Mus'ad raises an eyebrow at the idea. "I think, that perhaps this is WHY the Monastary is so valuable. It's not just the location, it's the fact that there is enough water here to grow this veritable oasis indoors. While I admit it's a great hiding spot, there's probably a better way to make sure that we've gotten them all besides torching it!" HE whispers back. "ALthough, while it would be a waste, if they run into here to hide, we could be sure of finishing them off that way." HE admits reluctantly.
Mus'ad moves forward, (after getting the signal from Al), and spends a moment gazing at the mural himself. "Very nice," He murmurs to Zephyr. "I recognize most of the symbols, I think, but I take it this story is of particular significance?" He whispers to the priestess of Seranea. He also spares a concerned glance for the overgrowth in the large room. "I never expected to find a jungle in the middle of the desert. There much be a source of water here for the plants to flourish so. Now we now one reason the fiends chose this as their base!" He whispers. "I don't suppose that our friend of nature can persuade the plants to let us pass?" He asks hopefully,... |
