Mrs Steelwing loosens the bindings on a wicker cage strapped to the back of a pack horse. Making a soft cooing noise she reaches inside the cage and carefully pulls out a plump pigeon. She continues cooing reassuringly to the bird as she fastens a small metal tube to its leg not even pausing as she hears someone enter the stable behind her. "You wanted to speak privately I believe?" she says without turning around.

Ah, but what else could it be? I neither declare war nor do I negotiate peace. I am simply the watcher.

You do not need to actually formally declare war you merely need to provide a reason to consider you an enemy of our state which the statement I quoted implies.

Remember actions have consequences that includes what you say. Also remember that if we decide to join the game we will be looking to make an example of some group or settlement early on in the game "pour encourager les autres" as they say.

Having said that however we will probably wait until we actually decide we are coming to pick our example so you are safe enough for now :)

I wish you and your "cuddle bunny" success in your goals. Unless you wish to use that power in order to subjugate the freedoms and equality of the people of Two Rivers, in which case I hope (and will try to make) you burn ;)

Freedom and equality only belong to those that can enforce them. If you can't you belong under the boot heels of tyrants. If you wish I can suggest to the cuddly one that we take the latter part of your statement as a preemptive declaration of war

I can state my ideals for PFO, but I don't believe I can rightly state 'our' ideals for PFO. I suspect I am not alone.

My personal ideal for PFO is to craft of my virtual life a bold and rewarding saga that I might savor in memory long after it is gone. I would wish to grow wiser than I am, and to share what wisdom I learn.

What is your ideal, Steelwing?

As I notice my husband failed to actually answer your question I thought I would tell you what his answer should be in order of priority.

1) To ensure that the people he is responsible for (that is our settlement) have fun and enjoy the game

2) To be the dominant force in the river kingdoms and make others tremble with fear at the thought of crossing us

If he dishes out any bull about fairness and allowing people to fulfil their ambitions in game ignore him he is just trying to be a cuddly bunny

Mrs Steelwng crooks an eyebrow at Steelwing very briefly before turning back to Jordan "anyway Zeke here will be able to keep you occupied with questions till I return". With that she turns on her heel her robe flaring slightly as she does so and head towards the door of the inn without even a glance at Xeen

((Thanks for the good wishes folks my father is now doing fine I am glad to see and has weathered his stroke with minimal lasting effects. Apologies for the delays in getting back to the rp grindstone but family takes precedence))

Mrs Steelwing gazes into Jordans eyes shyly "Oh nothing secret good sir merely a bit of background information is all we are looking for. Merely an overview of the various cities and towns of the regions. What they do, how they are governed, which are safe that sort of thing. I am sure we will be happy to recompense a traveler such as yourself handsomely for his time".

She glances to the side at Xeen briefly and while her lips hardly seem to move a whisper carries to his ears "I will be in the stables in 15 minutes if that suits".

She turns to steelwing and says "Will you look after this fine man's needs" she points at Jordan "while I go and fetch some writing materials from my saddlebags"

Turning back to Jordan she says "my friend here will start taking notes I will be back shortly after I fetch some materials from my baggage. In the meantime feel free to talk to..." she trails off looking at Steelwing quizzically obviously expecting him to supply his name.

Mrs Steelwing places her hand over Jordan's "Oh well nothing wrong with carrots I suppose, however I was hoping you might help us a little by sharing your knowledge of the river kingdoms with us" she says her voice lowering to a semi hypnotic husky whisper.

As she speaks to Jordan her eyes flicker over Xeens arrival, departure and rearrival with an amused glance

((Apologies for the delays gentlemen my father fell ill so we had to fly out to see him))

*steps oward her hand reaching up and slowly stroking Jordans face "I am sure we can find something of worth for you to trade your information sir even if it is not a mere rescue from the prospect of boiled carrots for dinner. "As she moves highlights seem to run over her exposed tattoos focussing on the hand stroking the bards face.

whispers to steelwing who nods briefly then turns back to Jordan smiling. "Steamed carrots sir surely to keep your singing voice up you would prefer some meat"

Welcome to the forums Mrs. Steelwing. I see I won't have to guess at which person is Steel's SO ;).

I would expect most items in general to not have a permanent presence in game; when a player logs out, I'd expect the stuff he had on his person to log out with him and be safe (provided he logged out in an area safe enough, etc). So too for mounts, I don't think having them persist on logout is necessary as that would be an extra restriction placed on them separate from other items.

I hope that mounts essentially become consumables just like the other items we'll have; every so often you have to replace your armor set, and every so often you have to replace your mount. Yes, some people will whine about that, but I don't necessarily see that as indicating that mounts should be done different.

For others, though I would agree to initially having mounts pumped out of a crafting queue just like wooden planks or iron weapons, I also would not object to some crafts getting more unique nuances to them. In the case of animal husbandry, perhaps in order to get specific keywords on your mount you have to breed them into it, rather than just selecting which ones you want while crafting. Not a needed system, but just something a little more interesting.

1) I am not steelwings significant other I am a person in my own right wih my own personality and we agree where we agree and disagree where we disagree

2) Yes I am not suggesting mounts stay around when you log out. I suggested mounts should be as permanent as any other resource if they come from the same source

I would also like to say I frankly dont want to have to spend to much time killing dead people when there are perfectly good live people to kill

Saul Bandini was obviously claiming to be an ancient wise man erroneously and instead of that have been laying claim to being an ancient idiot. I suspect that the day he dies that the avaerage IQ of the human race must have jumped a huge number of points

heh Steelwing is just a cuddly panda he called me in because he felt he wasn't being blunt enough in his explanations and he knows I have a soldiers knack for simplicity

Whew! That is a lot of ANSWER. I suppose that makes sense. I was guessing that those structures would have player or "weakling" guards. An assumption of my own. So, as long as it is empty of "weaklings". Got it. ;)

If we are attacking their outpost their is unlikely to be pc guards from the dev blogs

If we are attacking a POI there maybe player guards but they are obviously weaklings because only a fool attacks the strong.

Think of it as evolution in action and if you are one of the dispossessed frankly consider it as a lesson in where you fit in the golarion universe

No. You do not attack the enemy where he is strongest. Not unless you have a very good reason. You also do not do everything that the Developers or players assume that you will. Unless you want to be predictable.

Of course not predictability is the hallmark of a failed operation. We will do what we need to and we will win our conflicts.

@ Valtorious,

We do know that SADs, Raiding Outposts / POIs, Feuds, Faction targets, and Wars do not cost Reputation.

What we are waiting to hear about are caravans. If that system also allows for raiding similar to outposts, where ambushes cause hostility but not reputation loss, then we can virtually count on not being low rep.

Can you show where that bolded part is confirmed? Otherwise it is an assumption from an "iffey" comment.
In a thread (for "The Window Is A Wound, The Road Is A Knife" I think) a dev said it's hypothetically possible to raid an outpost without losing rep if you don't attack any PCs there while non-hostiles. You will be flagged criminal so they can choose to attack you and then you can try to kill them back without losing rep.

From what the husband has told me attacking npc's should have no impact it is only when you kill the weaklings that you get hit with rep loss

point of order gentleman

If mounts are resource generated by a poi or outpost then they have to have the same qualities as all other poi generated resources that is to say they have to have a permanent prescence in game and be stealable and destructible.

I expect most will object to their mount being either.

The whole argument therefore revolves around 3 questions

1) Is goblinworks capable and willing to provide permanent mounts
2) Will people bother breeding mounts or if they do will people find themselves limited by available mounts by settlement membeship
3) Will people accept mount death and mount theft or will they whinge

As she waits for her drink to arrive she idly looks over the meagre clientele of the tavern. Her ice grey eyes pass over Xeen then snap back to him. She dips her slender fingers into a small pocket sewn into her bodice drawing forth what appears to be a small monocle with an emerald colored lens. She peers briefly through it at Xeen and then rapidly bends her head to Steelwing whispering urgently into his ear

Makes a series of hand gestures at Steelwing which he returns with a sequence of his own. She nods briefly

The door of the tavern swings open sihouetting the slim waisted woman and obscuring her features in shadow. She pauses briefly in the ensuing silence timing it perfectly for maximum effect before sashaying her way to the bar the only sounds being the silken swish of her robes and the chiming of the tiny bells embroidered along every edge of her robes. Her long white hair swinging in counterpoint to her hips and the mystical tattoos covering her exposed flesh seeming to radiate an inner light in the gloomy interior of the inn.

Reaching the bar she casts an appraising glance over Jordan before turning to Steelwing who after a brief surprise at her entrance seems to have recovered his equinamity. She bows deeply before him then pulls a sealed scroll out of her pouch handing it to him. "I bring tidings G" she starts to say before being silenced by his finger placed on her lips. She lapses into silence as he examines the seal on the scroll then cracks it open and begins to read.
