I love hack n' slash as much as I love roleplaying.
So I figured, why not have a campaign where the PCs are all combatants in an arena?

They could be there voluntarily, or criminals who showed great promise and are now being placed on a "team" with the other PCs.

There is no death once you get put on a team. It's like you're a "made man". That's where the PCs are at. But of course, their popularity and profitability could wax and wane. If they become too much of a problem they're booted out (executed).

The party will have free reign of the Arena grounds, and even be able to interact with the outside world via a "visitation" room of sorts, which I figure might allow for all kinds of intrigue. And, perhaps - the party could be "loaned" out for quests outside the Arena proper and we could mix in some more traditional sessions in there too.

I figure there might be enough behind the scenes drama to make it interesting enough to provide ample opportunity for roleplaying as well. But I was just wondering if you guys had any input on this idea and stuff you would do or add to the Arena to increase the RP potential.

Thanks!

So I'm thinking of doing a 1-person Gestalt-type campaign where my player is a Gestalt Character who may or may not use hirelings and such.

Any tips for this? I'm doing it through text since I think that's the ideal medium for this kind of campaign.

Any tips for doing a 1 player, 1 GM sort of campaign in Pathfinder?

Thanks.

Hey guys. So I'm looking for 4 players. I can GM tuesday nights after 5pm MST, or thursday nights after 5pm.

The theme of the campaign is somewhat dark: the world has been ravaged by a plague and struggling to recover. But an even greater threat lurks and only a chosen few will be able to fight it.

Here's the game world in case you're curious: http://invasionoftheonyx.wikidot.com/

We'll play primarily through IRC, and use Roll20 (app.roll20.net) for encounters and general die-rolling.

If you're interested, reply to this thread or private message me and we can talk further. Ideally, hit me up on skype: my user name is drakeulysses.

Thanks and I hope to hear from you!
