Trying to build an Athena-type warrior-ess and struggling.

Primary annoyance comes from the stuff surrounding spear: 2-handed, simple, yet chuckable. You can chuck it at ppl. But Two-Handed i.e. you need two hands to wield it? You aint chucking this thing like a boulder with both hands over the head. But rather like a javelin. But two handed, but chuckable. The rules, as I understand them, are self-contradictory.

Secondly, despite all the crazy archetypes and numerous feats there is nothing that I can find that will allow you, even with some penalties, to use a Spear with one hand. Will have to settle for Short Spear which is both weak and not the image i want for my char.

Am I missing sommat obvious?

Shadow Lodge

I wanted to play sommat small but unusual. I like Kobolds.... loads of options.... costs only 5, too. Why are Tengus so expensive? They get nothing mind blowing! Even orcs cost 8 which sounds reasonable. Am I missing something major about Tengus?

Hello.

I have been reading: http://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/other-rules
with great ebullience and gusto.
There might be, however, something I have missed.
Is there an alternative system where things are bought in a semi-quasi-mini-point-based, purchases-type alternative?

Thanks,
Morlaf

Is the point of the Unchained Classes to compensate for the Core Classes apparently being too weak?

Is this seriously the case for these?

Shadow Lodge

Talk to me a while, please, about sessions/campaigns/settings etc where the players (for at least the first 5 or so levels) are primarily attempting to SURVIVE.
Pitted against dinosaurs, cataclysms, ruthless ravagers, famine, etc.....
Have you run/played such a campaign? how did it go?

my main worry is in a normal campaign where ppl are after the usual (power, glory, fame, riches etc) if you fail - "oh well!"
where as if you fail at surviving you die!

Done correctly I think it might be fun, but I don't want it to decent into a whole party death on 1st session....

Shadow Lodge

Hello.
doing modification (aint we all!) to some classes and stuff for my own Stone-Age world/setting/campaign/settings.
a)I feel ONLY fighters should have a +1 BAB.
Barbarians have a 3/4 BAB like Clerics etc. what do you feel I should give them to compensate for this (I have my own thoughts but I'd love to see you ideas)
b) I feel Rage and the bonuses it grants should have a chaotic, unpredictable, uncontrollable element to them, not just the flat "+2 hit and damage" that we all quote. How would you introduce this to the class feature "Rage"?

Thanks,
Morlaf (The bringer of Chaos)

Hello all.

Witch Hexes....
Nails(Ex): Effect: The witch’s nails are long and sharp, and count as natural weapons that deal 1d3 points of damage (1d2 for a Small witch). These attacks are secondary attacks. If trimmed, the witch’s nails regrow to their normal size in 1d4 days.

What does “These attacks are secondary attacks.” mean? If i am wielding nothing at all and decide to claw my opponent to shreds my two claw attacks take -5 to hit ?!
Is that a bit bizarre?! Or is it just bizarre?!

All help appreciated and since some of my past posts somehow "upset" some ppl I would like to offer beforehand a sincere apology and a request that "upset" ppl need not reply to this post.

Thanks again,
Morlaf

My name is Onion Fieldmouse. Halfling Rogue. I am a 5th Level Knife Master.
I am standing in 5ft behind my target. His name is Grut Babadus. A 7th level, half-ogre warrior of ill repute.
He is completely oblivious to my presence.
I am duel wielding daggers and I have 2-wpn fighting, double slice and wpn. finesse.
I go full attack on him.
With all my bonuses, +8/+8 to hit, he is flat footed, so I do:
(1d3+3d8+1) damage + (1d3+3d8+1) Damage.
We then roll initiative and I beat him.
So I repeat the process only he is not flat footed.
I do another (1d3+3d8+1) damage + ( 1d3+3d8+1) Damage.
This is my design! ;-)
What can I say? I was rolling well!

Is this correct? Please advise.
Thanks!

Just reached level 7!
My level 6 Barbarian: "Baracanth of Rage" strangled the troll and advance level. He took the prestige class of Pain Taster (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/prestige-classes/other-paizo/n-r/pain-tast er).
Barbarian is of course my favoured class, but can i treat PrC as a favoured class and get my +1hp?!

You never know, it might save my life when we go up against that angry dragon!

I'm invisible and standing by a spell caster.
On my turn I say I am readying to smack this chappie if he starts casting
He starts casting.
So I have my held action of trying to hit him.
Can i then also get an AoO for him casting a spell in melee?!

Thanks,
Morlaf

So am Crunch, the level 16 Gnome Barbarian with a nasty pick.
Full attack, so I roll my four d20s and get: 1, 1, 1, 20.
In THAT order.
When I re-roll to confirm, do I add 16 or 1 to the roll?!
And why - as in where (if anywhere) is this explained?!

Thanks,
Morlaf

level 1 wizard... familiar_one (raven)
Level 2 arcane bloodbond sorcerer.... familiar_two (toad)
Allowed?

I say "yes", nasty GM says "no"
:o(

If I am immune to Fatigue, but not to Exhaustion, how can some thing every cause me to be exhausted without being fatigue 1st?

I cannot find a situation I THE RULES that would cause such a thing to happen.... therefore granting me, indirectly, immunity to Exhaustion too?!?!?

Thanks,

Are there any traits like (for example): Lanky: Preq: Con below 10 and Dex above 14. Benefit: +2 to all Dex based skills. I am playing a tall and gangly cleric with a VERY low con and i want something to represent this other than my description?!

Thanks,

So I made thsi Goblin Wild Rager who is fun to play....
but quickly noticed that with char = 08 and Wis = 12 the DC of the confusion save is advancing much faster than my will saves, and even if i blow a feat on Iron Will by level 20 I would have to roll a natural (yes, NATURAL!) 22.
So that means I get to spend eternity in perpetual confusion, raging and smashing everyhing in sight...
Deity levels here we come!!! :o)

i have posted on this topic before but i fancy moaning a little more:

can some1 please explain the logic behind The Spear?
The Spear appears to be
2-handed
throw-able (never seen any1 chuck a spear with two hands!)
but only 5ft long made?!

also compare that with similar weapons like Javelin and longspear and shortspear and halfspear and spear with bells on etc, etc...

I think there are some PHAT flaws in the designation of weapons and sizes and stuff in Pathfinder but hey....

Thanks,

is Pathfinder gonna do Anthropomorphics?
I loved that section of Savage Species. Hopefully a little more realistic though than Savage Species where an anthropomorphic dog was more powerful than an anthropomorphic lion! Loved playing a Weaselman.
If so is it gonna be the Advanced Race Guide?

any heads-up would be appreciated!

Reading and re-reading the Ready and Delay action over and over.
Can any1 gimme an example where the player would choose to Ready rather than Delay?
with Delay he gets full round
with Ready he gets a standard action.
With no obvious advantage to Ready over Delay.
I must be missing some subtelty.

Please help!

the 5ft step NEVER provokes attacks of oppotunity.
(Unless ppl have relevant feats like "step up" or whatever it is called - please do not correct me on the names of feats!)

I am I right? The rules on the site seem a bit vague.
The posts on the 5ft-step issue seem to indicate a few ppl are still slightly confused on this "bread-and-butter" subject.....

I was always under the impression that attacks resolved simultaneously were rolled and dealt with even if one of the parties died. There are several instances in feat and special power descriptions where (Panther Style feats are a good example, but there are plenty) the wording "...your retaliatory unarmed strikes are resolved before the triggering attacks..." suggests that if the attack hits and kills then the trigger (here the attack of opportunity) never happens at all and is not rolled. Am I right? I really like that Panther Style! :o)

Apparently a minotaur PC is equivalent to a level 4 core race/core class PC. this is according to the bestiary - _IF_ i understood the rules correctly. Surely a minotaur is much harder than that? "Dnd Savage Spieces" (though riddled with unbalanced and unvetted monstrocities) gave an explanation on how "to tear-down and build it back up" for monstrous PCs which i understood and agreed with (on the whole). I think 4 levels for a minotaur (coming striaght of his CR) is a bit wrong. Please enlighten me....

Shadow Lodge

Are there any feats to boost the DC of Supernatural Abilities. I was specifically thinking about Witch Hexes. DnD3.5 had a general "Ability Focus" type feat. Is there anything in Pathfinder like that?

Shadow Lodge

Hello.
At 2nd level the Archetype Barbarian of Titan Mauler gets a Special thingy called: Jotungrip.
This allows him to wield in one hand a 2-handed weapon with a -2 penalty.
Surely EVERY1 can do that... Titan Mauler or not?!?!?

I've asked a weapon-size question before... i am obviously missing something.....

Thanks,
Morlaf

Hello.
Human being picks up a Greataxe and attacks with it. he grabs it with hands, does 1d12 (+1.5*str+mod) damage, with no penalty.
I am arguing i can use an Oversized Great Axe and do 3d6 (+1.5*str_mod) damage with a -2 to hit.
My GM says i simply cannot do that at all.
Who is right, please?
