I'm very dubious of the assassin base class; as you noted, it's been done before, even for Pathfinder (Freeport Companion).
Agreed...but, how often was it done WELL. I am hoping for someone to finally bring out the Assassin as it should have always been done. I hold that same hope for the Monk...
Yes ---> Assassin - as a base class with spellcasting, PLEASE.
I'm with Stark...can't wait for the this one! Love the first FoD. The entire book is open to my players and they love the variety it gives them. Party's are about 50/50 between FoD and PF Core, so there ya go as far as balance is concerned!
Maybe I'm blind, but I can seem to find(in the Core book)a way to put a value on a Wand of Vampiric Touch with 8 charges left. Thought there was a way to "reverse engineer it" using the creation rules...
I use plastic containers that have adjustable dividers in them. Purchased from Big Lots, I believe.
I find the BEST way to organize, is to go over the adventure you're running and find the mini's that the group will encounter in the amount of time that is available for the session. I have a pretty good idea of how far my group can get in one session, so I just flip through the book or my notes and take out just the mini's that will be needed for that evening.
Then I just toss em in a small tupper-ware container. It's a lot easier to sort through 15-20 minis at the table than to dig through the hundreds that I have on the shelves.
Using a ranged weapon(bow) against a melee combatant(in a square I threaten) provokes an Attack of Opportunity...yes? How about when base to base and using a ranged attack at against an enemy at range?
I know this was the case in 3.5...but I can't find it ANYWHERE in the PRPG Core Book. I have had a player tell me(as a DM) that I'm wrong. Im about to house rule that it provokes...
Sorry for what is going to be a somewhat simple answer. I searched the forums and got 3.5 stuff only.
If you look in pathfinder on the Actions in Combat chart, any ranged attack causes an attack of opportunity. So if any ranged combatant is threatened by someone and makes a ranged attack on anyone, the one threatening them gets an AOO.
Also note that bows do NOT get AOO's. You can only AOO with a melee attack.
Thanks! Saw that but needed clarification, as it is somewhat ambiguous.
Thank you and I have contemplated that myself. Is using a ranged weapon against a melee combatant in a threatened square considered a reckless action. I would think so, but can see my player dancing around that ruling.

I consider myself a "light-user". I mostly consult rules online, and so my book gets little use outside of game night when my players need to look something up. Yet already my binding is loose and pages are starting to come free. On a hunch, I looked to see where the book was printed. As I suspected, made in China.
+1
I am extremely anal when it comes to caring for my books. And I too consult rules online, unless its during a game. I have opened my Core Rulebook less than 50-60 times and already the spine is becoming weak and flimsy, pages are starting to fall out and it has reached the point where I don't want to use it at all for fear it will become useless.
I shouldn't have to discontinue use of a product for fear it will completely fall apart, when it has received so little use and such excellent care. I have already purchased a second Core Rulebook to replace the first. Very disappointing.
The book looks to be in near mint condition...until you pick it up.
Edit: I will say this. My other Pathfinder RPG hardcovers are not having this issue. But they are not as robust and receive even less use.
A weapon with the guided property allows its wielder to use
his instinct when striking blows with it. Attacks from a guided
weapon generally don’t strike hard, but they strike at precisely
the right moment to maximize damage if in the hands of
a particularly wise wielder. A character who attacks with a
guided weapon modifies his attack rolls and weapon damage
rolls with his Wisdom modifier, not his Strength modifier.
This modifier to damage is not adjusted for two-handed
weapons or off-hand weapons—it always remains equal to
the wielder’s Wisdom modifier. A guided weapon may be
wielded as a normal weapon, using Strength to
modify attack and damage rolls, but this goes
against the weapon’s nature and
imparts a –2 penalty on all attack
rolls made in this manner.
Construction:
Requirements Craft
Magic Arms and Armor,
spiritual weapon
I allow it in my games, even though "technically" it's 3.5
Seems to fix everything and makes me happy as a clam, with no other changes at all. And I ONLY play a Monk.

I mean, I have played other classes, once, a long time ago.
Maybe it's because Monk's seem to be the most challenging(to me)and thus, the most rewarding. I always picture myself being the last one able to act, due to insane Wil saves, taking down the 20th level Wizard solo...
Of course that never happens, but imagine what it would be like if it did!
Hows it going. I have most of the Pathfinder book's and have been playing since release. I would love to get in on your game if you have one running...also open to DMing.
