I run a homebrew campaign. The players are the following classes: Barbarian/Oracle multiclasser, Monk, and Fighter. All level 11. Now the first two have made excellent interesting characters. But the fighter, is what we call a "min-maxer". He has dumped anything he deems useless like RP factors and look cool factors, but put everything he has into things to make him "better". So his strength and dexterity are through the roof. Normally this wouldnt be a problem. However this character also likes to argue with the DM. He has decided if there isn't a rule against doing something, he is allowed to do it. This frustrates me. He is very demanding, and aggressive in his demands. I'm close to kicking him out of the campaign altogether but we're such a small group as it is I fear having 2 players and 2 NPC's would take most of the fun out of it for the other two players. But the stat differences between the players elevate the CR so that the monk and barbarian go down fairly fast but the fighter ends the fight with 100 HP. For example. When fighting a non-buffed level 12 monk, the monk would have to have a strength mod of 9 to hit the fighter or roll a 20, whereas without any feats put into AC and an average dexterity, the fighter would have to roll a 6. To make things even worse, the fighter took the crane wing path of feats. So one melee attack per round is negated. So even if I rolled the 20 it would miss. So i have to elevate the strength and AC of monsters for it to pose a threat to the party. But he notices. So he takes the AC or strength or BAB of the monster and throws it back in my face saying it's against the rules, I'm a bad DM and don't know the basics. I calmly explain that it is within the rules as a DM since I can change whatever I want to suit the party's needs. He just keeps being a rule book slammer. I know I break the rules, but it is so every encounter remains a challenge. Most of the encounters are incredibly easy if I don't buff the monster or give it an extra feat or something like that because he can hit it with his eyes closed, but it is impossible to land a hit on him. I'm really at the end of my rope here. I don't know what else to do. I follow the rules, every encounter is a 10 second long massacre, or every encounter is exciting but I get the rule book slammed in my face for 2 straight days via text. (For the record, the monster he was so upset about? Had 4 extra natural armor, and 1 extra feat which was multiattack...not broken at all. Just a little extra to be able to do ANYTHING)

Ok. So I have a rather argumentative player in my homebrew campaign. My campaign is popular with other players because I bend rules to make cool personal character items and other things of the like. I allowed this combative player to purchase a Giant Owl and combat train it. He bought a saddle for it and he loves it. It is a cool feature to his character. But. It has become a living nightmare for me. He demanded armor for it, even though it doesn't have light armor proficiency. So we gave it barding. He then demanded a custom Ring of Riding +5. He got his way. Now he is saying that because it will gain XP from battle, it will gain levels. This is where I put my foot down. I don't think this is even remotely possible as he plays a fighter with no ranks in druid or ranger. So I don't think he can even level the owl. Telling him no on the owl altogether is too much of an argument to even think about. Any opinions?

Thanks! I guess I'll have to use my own noggin for once:)

Shamless bump for answers

Does anyone know if there is any more information besides what they have on pathfinderwiki.com about Sarusan? I plan on stranding my players there in a homebrew campaign but I'm lost on anything other than having them fight giant mammals like the ones described in the wiki and having them see weird flora and fauna. Is there a race connected to the island? D20pfsrd.com had a 3rd party race that will work. But I'm more curious if there is a Campaign Setting book, or even just an informational booklet. I need a little more information than what I was given. Anyone have anything?

Dunno if it was suggested already, but I'll add this raw option, leaving the refinement to you.

Use some anonymous way (or someone external to the party) to publicly announce that the guy will be killed.
Then, be at the casting for bodyguard hiring. And after you get the job, "fail" at it.
Perhaps split the group in two: "the assassins" and "the bodyguards"; the former will try some fake assassination to make the target think that he really needs more bodyguards.

No one suggested this and it was a wonderful idea, will definitely be considered.

Lincoln Hills you have given me a ton of ideas. We have been thinking a lot lately about perhaps organizing a revolution, or something of that caliber. A little less direct, since likely he will have more protection since he recently has been making unpopular decisions. However both in character and out (he is based on a real pathfinder character) I have found out that the city, near the city he is in charge of, has a powerful leader that hates the one we're trying to kill. So we'll have some help perhaps. At least some sympathizers. We're thinking about hiring an assassin to make an attempt to test out his defenses, then perhaps send him some sort of message, scare him senseless. Then if his actions get much worse, we will definitely attempt a more direct approach. cough kill him cough

2 people marked this as a favorite.

I agree with all of the above. Our party consists of myself a level 8 Ranger with a plus 3 bow and curved elven blade. A level 8 Druid, wildshape based. A level 7 Rogue/Level 1 Gunslinger who specializes in sniping. And the level 8 unarmed Monk. We also have a level 6 Sorceror who may or may not be in on the plan. We are leaning more towards a rebellion. I know of an NPC who would be interested. My DM told me if all went well we would prolly all get killed lol. The people are pretty pissed at him right now, so starting a rebellion shouldn't be hard. I will work on finding some blackmail, on him or his guards. I didn't think about there being any form of protection on him. I went for a direct approach of just kill him, I needed to think outside the box. Thanks to all of you, keep up the suggestions.

Also need a way to get rid of the body, preferably disintegrated, so as to avoid the possibility of the leader being resurrected, raised by raise dead spell, or even True Resurrection. Pop me some ideas.

We have a certain political leader who needs to be "taken care of". We can't outright kill the guy, too many guards. However, he's no commoner. The guy has 13 levels of rogue. So, we were thinking maybe a hit and run. The only plan we have as of now is to stealth in (huge stealth bonus) and poison him and coup de gras him after he's paralyzed and suffering several forms of con damage. But I'm looking for second opinions. The guy doing the killing is an unarmed monk. Poison choices we have so far are: Wolfsbane, as well as Tears of Death. Any poison or injury will be followed by Woundweal so the heal checks will bounce. Anybody got any more ideas? Lemme know.
