I've just downloaded the old OSCIR rules for free last night. Anyone still play old school first edition D&D.

I played 1e more than one way...I don't think I ever played with a group that did RAW. Three cheers for PF and three cheers for the OSR, says I.

Ummm....by claiming the top of the page you must also get naked. It is a FAWTL rule.

While we're on FAWTL rules, another is no politics.

PS All you new school vampire kids suck. Real men play non-vampires who kill things and take their stuff.

Real men dont play 'Elf' as a class =P

You're playin' wit' death, son.

Ah, I see. The Wickham defensive move at the end.

They just use different names for it all. And none of them are exactly true.

No matter how flat you make a pancake, it's always got two sides.

Chaotic or lawful?

That's more like it!

If you want the iconic boxed set, it's still available on eBay. :)

So....

Who is going to be Pathfinder's Aleena and Bargle?

;)

I think you mean Morgan Ironwolf and Black Dougal.

Reminiscences for fans of Tom Moldvay.

Does anybody miss D&D? Not 4e, 3.5 or 3e... I mean AD&D, 2e or even D&D.

You realize this is the Pathfinder forum, right? You must be new here.

*By which I mean, you just hit the jack pot, mofo.

Hehe, I agree, it seems there is a fairly high percentage (when compared to other rpg boards) of members here who started prior to the dnd numbering system. And many who began with an oddly colored box.

There's nothing odd about magenta!

Nice name.

What ever happened to the basic guide/basic players?

I recognize those right away, thanks to SNL and my trusty B/X books:
Giant Killer Bees.

MUHAHAHA!

Here's a nice old blog post.

I got the D&D Red Box for a birthday present when I was 10, having graduated from the Peter Jackson/Ian Livingstone Fighting Fantasy books, and 22 years later here I am.

Is it really ~70% of my life I've been playing D&D?

When I was that age, red rule books came in magenta boxes, and we LIKED IT THAT WAY.

Wow, 40 does feel like somewhere in the middle now.

Woo-hoo! 1981, here I come!

Not Holmes...not Mentzer, but the real D&D! ;-P
