Mohegan’s Life

The fragility of life is obvious for the shoanti living in the Varisian highlands. It was particularly troubling for a youngster named Mohegan. It troubled him so much after his sister Ravash was killed by a bugbear that he began praying for solace. For long hours every day he would sit in morose silence questioning why she had to die and wanting answers to the mysteries of the afterlife. One night his prayers were answered, literally by the goddess Pharasma. The Lady of Graves explained to him the necessity of death and described her great Boneyard. Then she told him that his sister would be judged worthy and would not be left to rot in it. To his great comfort, she allowed the soul of Ravash to visit him the next night. The following morning he found that Pharasma’s holy texts, The Bones Land in a Spiral, had been delivered to his bedside during the night.

Mohegan grew to become the tribe’s teacher, midwife and comforter to those in morning but he longed to bring Pharasma’s light to more and more people. Through signs, she guided him to join the Pathfinder Society. There he could help others and, through their many journeys over Golarion, he could dispatch those who make a mockery of the necessity of death; the undead and those that create and command them.
