As for last night, the session was abruptly ended by a power failure on my end. We had a lot of icing from sleet during the afternoon and I guess a power line went out. We played for about an hour. Other than an encounter on the beach, we didn't get very far. I had planned on dealing Cyric in as a marooned passenger from another ship due to your absence, but because we didn't really get the campaign off the ground, I think we'll bluebook the fact that Cyric was with the rest of the passengers the entire time.
We're on for tonight and might have added one additional player bringing the party count to 6. That's a pretty big party to manage, but I'm sure we'll make due. You should have all received an email from me with your MapTools login info. If you didn't, hit me up and I'll re-send it to you. T-Bone, we'll need the Vent login info. We're good to go! See you all tonight.
Cyric Dayn wrote: Guys, I hate to do this, but I probably will not be able to make it tomorrow. My wife and I are trying to get pregnant... Now that gave me a chuckle. I have DMed a lot of games but that has to be the first time I ever got a cancellation like that! In all seriousness, my wife and I went down the same road you're going down now. After much trial and tribulation, we ended up with boy/girl twins. I'm sure the two of you will succeed. Now that we're down one player, I'll leave it up to the group as if we play as scheduled. But I see no problem bringing you in after 1 missed week.
H.P. Makelovecraft wrote: I already sent my sheet to you, and I have vent and skype so either works for me. I just noticed this was in my Spam. Sorry about that! It looks like the majority have and use Vent, so we'll be going with Ventrilio. J-Bone, you have a Vent server and you're willing to let us use it for our game nights?
What are everyone's feelings on beginning the campaign this Thursday night? I'm still waiting on emailed character sheets from Cyric Dayn and H.P. Makelovecraft (even if you have your character sheets here, please also email them to me so I have a paper trail and your email addresses). If everyone is up for starting the campaign this Thursday, what is everyone's preferred method of VOIP? Several have offered the use of their Vent server. Skype is another option. I prefer Ventrilio, but I'll leave it up to the group. For those of you not familiar with MapTools, I will email you the basic information you'll need to know (but first I need everyone's email addresses). So we have two votes: 1) Is everyone prepared to begin play this Thursday at 8 p.m. EST? Yeah or Nay? 2) What is your preferred method of VOIP? Ventrilio? Skype? Something else?

In the end, its how the party would respond to a goblin gunslinger that will either make it work or fail. You're free to make your case as to why a goblin gunslinger would work with this party to the other players and its up to them to consider how their players might respond to such a party member.
With TClifford, we have 5 and I'll put a hold on recruiting for now. Welcome aboard the Jenivere, TClifford. We have: Paladin or Wizard (I'd recommend the Paladin)
This has the makings of a well-built party. I gave my email above, so get back to me with your character sheets and don't forget those back-stories if you want the extra hero point. I highly recommend downloading the free Player's Guide through this website and reading it. If we get any additional interest, we'll create a waiting list.
Since the weekend is approaching, let's go ahead and get started with character creation and back-stories. If you decide to write a back-story for your character, you'll be awarded an additional hero point. Here's the setup: You booked travel aboard the Sargavan merchant ship Jenivere, which runs a trade route between the capital city of Eleder to Magnimar. Your destination is Sargava, which is one of the Jenivere's southernmost ports of call. Sargava is a slowly-growing nation recently wrested from Cheliaxian control. It promises riches to those enterprising people willing to take certain risks (and those willing to work either around or for the Free Captains, a well-known and dangerous group of pirates pulling the government's strings). You may have boarded and paid for the trip from the capital nation of Eleder or one of Jenivere's many other ports of call. If you need a map of the area or ideas on where your PC might have originated or joined up with the Jenivere and her crew, please contact me. The journey from Eleder to Sargava takes approximately one hundred days. Aside from your party, there are six or seven other voyagers on the Jenivere who share your destination in addition to the captain and his crew. I will introduce you to these other characters prior to our first session by email. Speaking of email, when your characters are finished or if you have any questions, shoot me one at 3.5demigod AT gmail DOT com. Any questions, let me know!
Welcome aboard, DaWay! We now have 4 players, which is a goodly number. There's still an open slot for one more, but we can run the AP with what we have now if need be. AdamWarnock wrote: Just out of curiosity, what is the point buy and all the other rules for characters, like money and traits. Good question! We're going to go by the book on chargen. If you decide to use the point buy, take 15 points. As for starting wealth, take the maximum allowed for your class. When equipping your characters, equip them for a long ship's journey with provisions and necessities for a sparsely populated island. On encumbrance and food: I like to inject realism into a campaign, but not at the sacrifice of fun and ease-of-play. We'll only be playing 4 or so hours a week so we won't be tracking what your characters eat and carry during game time. Instead, I'd like to take care of this with periodic emails during the week, if possible. Remember, your characters are headed for an island with known dangers and not much in the way of civilization. We'll discuss more of the setting today and tomorrow here, but if you're unfamiliar with what the AP is about, I suggest you download the free Player's Guide.
Great! It looks like we have 3, and need 1-2 more and we're set to go. AdamWarnock said wrote: I haven't used maptools before, but I do have a skype account. If you're not familiar with MapTools, it's only the greatest thing since sliced bread! It's free and easy to use. I'm open to everyone's opinions on using macros, etc. but to date haven't used them preferring to handle recordkeeping and die rolls manually. I use a separate initiative tracker. I take great care to transfer maps to MapTools, use fog of war, etc. So far the party consists of: A Human Paladin or Wizard & a Magus. Adam, if you could get back to me with a character concept, we'll see how everything gels. Once we get another confirmed player, we can start getting down to brass tacks.
Yarr! Welcome to Smuggler's Shiv! I'm interested in starting a weekly Serpent's Skull campaign and I'm looking for 4-5 shipwrecked survivors to join me on Smuggler's Shiv using MapTools & Skype (or Ventrilio or similar). Once we get our survivors together, we can discuss the night we play but it will definitely end up being Tues., Thurs., or Friday nights from approx. 8 p.m. EST to approx. 11:30 p.m. EST. As it stands, I would prefer Thursdays because I can go a play a little later if the group calls for it, but I'm somewhat flexible. If you're interested in being shipwrecked, please respond to this thread and come up with a character concept. I'm looking for mature players. Feel free to pick any race/class from the Core rules, APG, UM or UC.
Howdy! I'm an experienced DM (25+ years using D&D, AD&D, 2e, 3e, Pathfinder) looking for serious roleplayers to begin the Council of Thieves Adventure Path using MapTools and possibly Skype. Sessions will take place on Tuesday nights at around 8 p.m. EST and run for 3-4 hours. If you're interested, please reply to this thread or send an email to pantherbytheshore -at- gmail.com. I look forward to hearing from you! |
