Step 1:
1) Her parents died in an accident when she was young, so she was raised by her aunt and her husband, in their farm at the Duchy of Brightmeadows.
2) Midnight Dove is calm, peaceful, and her seriousness is somehow intimidating.
3) She was always cursed with a bad sight, which couldn't be cured by any magic, but the farmers only thought that it was hereditary. They ceased to worried about her when they understood that she would have to deal with it, and they left her alone.
4) Midnight Dove's coat is pure white. As a child, she hated it. It always made her lose at hide-and-seek.
5) She hates fighting, both because she is short-sighted and clumsy, and because her faith doesn't support violence. Her warhammer only serves as a 'last resort': she prefers to heal, and cast spells.
Step 2:
1) Her Church's goal is hers. She is willing to do anything to spread the Moon's glory, and be useful to her Church.
2) It would be nice if she came together with her family.
Step 3:
1) Midnight Dove knows that her mother was a descendant of a noble family, although Midnight Dove doesn't really care about nobility, and so doesn't consider herself as noble. Her aunt isn't part of the nobility anymore, because she chose to leave her family to marry a farmer, causing huge arguments. For this reason, she was in bad terms with her sister before she died.
2) She doesn't know that she has a half-brother: Zercan, a pony that her father had had with a poor mare he had seduced before he married Midnight Dove's mother. He has learnt that his father's spouse was a noble, and he is now desperatly trying to become one of the family's heir.
3) (Up to the GM)
Step 4:
1) Raspberry, an Earthpony, is Midnight Dove's best friend... Well, at least when they were both children. Last time she heard about the pony, two years ago, she was moving to Rondel, in order to get married. Midnight Dove is now moved at the idea to see her again... Their friendship should have remained; Raspberry was a very kind pony.
2) Gimpy Leg, an old half-zebran, was Midnight Dove's mentor when she joined the Church. He is a powerful and respected cleric, using his powers to heal suffering ponies. He is usually grumpy, sometimes cynical, as he was born himself with a deformed leg, which is making him limp constantly. His handicap may be one of the reasons explaining why they are getting along so well; Midnight Dove respects him a lot.
3) The Archbishop Poetic Star seems to be interested in the oracle's potential, but they don't get along very well. Midnight Dove doesn't appreciate his role in the purges, while Poetic Star finds her battle skills disappointing. However, as they are members of the same Church, they sill have to cooperate, whether willingly or not.
Step 5:
1) Midnight Dove is secretly afraid of teleportation, because she cannot see very well where she reappears. During her chilhood, she managed to stuck her horn deep in a tree trunk while trying to teleport, and panicked when she realized that she was unable to extricate: she had to wait several hours before being rescued by an adult. Her accident had left her somehow traumatized, and now she avoids it as much as possible.
2) Midnight Dove remembers very well how she had been called by the Moon on her tenth birthday, and the sweet smell of the candles' smoke when she first entered the Canterlot's Cathedral a few days later.
3) She prays at least six times per day. Usually a prayer when she wakes up, one before eating her breakfast, one at noon, one at five o'clock, one at the diner, and one a few minutes before going to bed. Short ones when she's in a rush.
