Male Human Sorcerer
I'm a little unclear why you don't have me use the table as soft cover from AoO.
Male Human Sorcerer
Mezzen chills the elementals out.
Burning Hands: 4d4 + 1 ⇒ (4, 3, 3, 3) + 1 = 14 DC 16
Male Human Sorcerer
Burning Hands (Cold): 4d4 + 1 ⇒ (3, 4, 2, 4) + 1 = 14 DC 16
Mezzen will try to get out of dodge after getting off his spell.
Male Human Sorcerer
Mezzen moves up and casts, catching the two elementals in a swath of cold.
Burning Hands (Cold): 4d4 + 1 ⇒ (4, 4, 3, 1) + 1 = 13 [DC: 17; 1 Arcane Point]
He uses 1 admixture for today.
Male Human Sorcerer
Already planning on looting the library!
Male Human Sorcerer
Where are these maps? Could an enterprising gnome reach these maps before the elementals? Also would it be possible to tumble some of these unburnt books into a bag?
"A party, dear democratic collective and we were most certainly invited!"
Male Human Sorcerer
"Such divinations are beyond my skills at the moment. Perhaps I could research a spell that drew a map as we explored . . ."
Mezzen was born ready . . . to burn things.
Male Human Sorcerer
"What a capital idea! Let me think . . "
Do such spells exist?
Male Human Sorcerer
What happened in the other group?
If you want to retire the game because you aren't feeling it, I can only support you. Though I'm enjoying the banter.
Male Human Sorcerer
Mezzen draws himself up in affronted dignity. "That goes without saying, madame. Have I ever given you cause to doubt my results?"
Male Human Sorcerer
Oooh, my chances of dying in a freak, magical accident have suddenly increased to day. I'm giddy with joy. What is the proper order of casting?"
Male Human Sorcerer
"Excellent! I was just telling Kalam how eager I was to return to the sewers."
Mezzen glances over the scrolls he will soon be casting.
Male Human Sorcerer
Mezzen performs a marvelous bow, with minimal wobble. "Gracious madame, mistress of my fate, I pray that the rubbings proved more than adequate? Is there anything I might further assist you with?"
Male Human Sorcerer
Hopefully with extra pay!
Male Human Sorcerer
"Don't worry. If either of you die, I'll make sure that your skulls aren't made into goblets. Except you Kalam. That seems like a fitting tribute."
Male Human Sorcerer
We are drinking!
That night there are many drunken shout of "Better them than us!"
Male Human Sorcerer
This night just got at least three times more interesting.
"What if I out drink you all? Does that mean I get all night with both of you? You can play too Kalam; I'm cosmopolitan like that. I don't care whose face I paint."
Male Human Sorcerer
Mezzen's skin had returned to it's proper hue, but his hair was another matter.
Mistress Zelda, beloved of the gods (probably Norgorber), we have discovered where the rune well is, but it was warded with these runes. Some I have seen before. I believe that with a few weeks of research I could break them. Or, you could find someone who could brute force them . . . that would be dangerous though."
Male Human Sorcerer
That should be our new toast: Better them than us!! Hip! Hip! Better them than us!!" The gnome chortles happily.
Male Human Sorcerer
"Let us engage in the better part of valor, noble democratic collective."
The two hours were interesting for the party. Mezzen might not have exploded but all his hair did fall out and his skin did turn a lovely shade of green.
Male Human Sorcerer
What is life without adventure?
"I'm going to do something incredibly foolish. Don't worry dying in freak magical accidents is gnomish destiny."
The tiny gnome starts doing rubbings of the glowing runes.
Knowledge (Arcana): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22
Spell Craft: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22
Male Human Sorcerer
Yes . . . totally . . . that sounds like something we would have done.
Mezzen starts taking notes on the door. Is it safe to do some rubbings?
"This door won't be opening any time soon from the outside. I think I could open it with a few weeks of study and the right materials. Troublesome!"
Male Human Sorcerer
Anybody have spell suggestions?
Male Human Sorcerer
+7 HP
+1 Fort, +1 Ref
Spell Specialization (Burning Hands)
Arcane Exploit: Orc Bloodline
Male Human Sorcerer
Nay, it will be all puppies and rainbows!! Shush. Let me work. I can read these runes, and would prefer that we all make it through the door alive.
Male Human Sorcerer
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25
The fire happy gnome is skilled at what he does and begins to examine the door for traps.

As the woman's blade sheers through bone and flesh, Mezzen checks for magical auras before lighting the beast on fire.
"Very decisive. My mother would approve."
Male Human Sorcerer
"Kill it with fire?" The gnome queries hopefully.
Male Human Sorcerer
Looking at his finger in shock at the last miss, Mezzen points again.
Acid Splash: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (13) + 2 - 4 = 11
damage: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Male Human Sorcerer
Acid Splash: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (1) + 2 - 4 = -1
Damage: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Male Human Sorcerer
Mezzen throws more acid at the thing.
Acid Splash (Range touch): 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (8) + 2 - 4 = 6
damage: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Male Human Sorcerer
Acid Splash (Ranged Touch): 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (17) + 2 - 4 = 15
Damage: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Male Human Sorcerer
Mezzen will retreat before the monstrosity and fire some acid at it.
Acid Splash (Ranged Touch): 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (13) + 2 - 4 = 11
damage: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Male Human Sorcerer
Mezzen positions himself so where he would have a clean shot at whatever is making that noise and readies to burn anything that steps into range.
"Stay back, so I can have a clean shot!"
Burning Hands: 5d4 ⇒ (1, 4, 1, 4, 4) = 14 DC 16, Reflex. 1 Arcane Point
Male Human Sorcerer
Acid Splash (Ranged Touch): 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (8) + 2 - 4 = 6
damage: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Male Human Sorcerer
I did. If you review the thread, I acted before any of you did. I've been waiting on you slackers!
Male Human Sorcerer
Poor Mezzen was forgotten.
Acid Splash (Ranged Touch): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
damage: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

"Make me happy with your stick."
Male Human Sorcerer
"Ouch. Any restorative magics, perchance, fair lady."
Male Human Sorcerer
Climb: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (4) - 2 = 2
Male Human Sorcerer
Mezzen Mur tries to get back in the boat.
Climb: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (1) - 2 = -1

Utter Stupid: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Arcane Point: 1
Burning Hands: 5d4 ⇒ (4, 1, 3, 1, 4) = 13 Reflex: 16
Mezzen sputters, treading water, before touching the heel of his palms together and chanting. "By the Fires of Faltine and the Hoary Horde of Hoggoth, burn you f&!@er, Burn!!"
Male Human Sorcerer
Reflex: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
The tiny coxswain is thrown overboard by the jostling.
Male Human Sorcerer
"I have always wanted to be a coxswain. When I call 'row' you pull the oars." The gnome advises as he gets into the dingy.
"Time is not on our side, gentle democratic collective."
Male Human Sorcerer
"Works for me. I'm a terrible climber. I'll just ride on Kalam's back," Mezzen says winking.
Male Human Sorcerer
Male Human Sorcerer
Mezzen pulls out a map and taps option C. "My recommendation is that one group go the obvious way, while another group with Ursus goes in the entrance that you previously used. This would pull their forces in two opposite directions and Ursus is fierce enough to deal with the sin spawn the best. When they are in position, we will slip in through the dockside entrance. That is my recommendation."
Male Human Sorcerer
Male Human Sorcerer
"I have the utmost confidence in our ability to produce results." The value of those results may vary . . .
Turning to the democratic collective, "There is a murderer out there who Mistress Zelda has not gainfully employed . . . let us go show him the power of collective bargaining and fixed labor markets."
Mezzen smiles hopefully at his new compatriots as they exit the office. That was very inspiring if I do say so myself, but I must not encourage them to unionize. Mistress Zelda would not be pleased.
Male Human Sorcerer
A prickly one, he.
Mezzen spreads his hands in a conciliatory gesture. "It was only a suggestion, good doctor. I have seen its effects and thought it might be useful against the person who summoned those hell hounds. But if you say it is inefficient for the cost, then it is inefficient for the cost. One should not ask for an expert's opinion, and then not take it."
To battle and glory! Let's get this show on the road.
