RETIRED

An unexpected work opportunity means that I will need to reduce the amount of time I spend gaming. Unfortunately, that means I will no longer be able to keep playing this campaign. A thousand apologies for my unexpectedly short time with you. I wish you all the best. Have fun!

And happy thanksgiving to those of you who are American!

RETIRED

With her staff poised in the air and ready to strike, Merutep hesitates. "Hmmm...."

Sense Motive (do I think it intends to betray us later?): 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 4 + 2 = 23

RETIRED

"Thank you!" Merutep replies with a swing of her staff.

Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Bludgeoning Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

RETIRED

Well, to be totally different, I have a weekend full of joyous family events to attend, and will be unable to post this weekend. All the best!

RETIRED

Merutep takes a step forward and tries to whack the sand creature over the head with her staff.

Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Bludgeoning Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

RETIRED

"Quick, Aya. Wake Rashim!" Merutep urges her kite with worry. She stands up and clutches her quarterstaff in her hands (I assume she dropped it when she fell asleep and she had to pick it up.)

RETIRED

I'm back and ready to get rolling! Thanks for your patience.

RETIRED

Merutep jolts awake. "Ouch!"

She looks around in confusion.

"Well, this doesn't look pleasant."

RETIRED

*snore*

RETIRED

Hello everyone. This weekend is Thanksgiving so I will very likely be unable to fit in a post. Please bot me if needed. I’ll be back to regular posting on Tuesday. Thanks for understanding, and I hope you have a great weekend!

Merutep's bitting instructions:
- SNORE. I'm asleep. Haha.

RETIRED

"A cruel head? What does --"

Merutep falls to the ground in a heap.

RETIRED

Merutep thinks on this. "Normally we don't even realize it feels like anything. We do it all the time, you see. But... I suppose it feels like there's a pocket inside of you that opens and fills up, then closes and shrinks. Then it repeats. There's also a cool feeling in your nose when the air comes in and out. Or a hot feeling, I suppose. Depends on the temperature..."

She smiles at the sand woman. "Are you the one who set up the skulls in the other room on top of the silverware? Why did you do that? Whose skulls were they?"

RETIRED

Merutep smiles kindly. "Well, cats protect us from evil spirits," she replies. "And Aya is intelligent. We don't eat anything intelligent." She places a finger to her lip and thinks for a moment. "Pets are like animals that we're made our friends, or trained for a purpose. One doesn't kill friends at all, either." She smiles. "Does that help?"

RETIRED

Merutep laughs. "Oh, no, of course not. Aya is a conduit to the goddes Isis. She is not for eating."

She looks at the spirit strangely. "Do you recall the days when this house was in use? Cats were a common pet. I am sure they must have had some. Yes? They were companions. Not for eating..?"

RETIRED

Merutep gasps and claps her hands. With an embarrassed look at her kite she blushes, straightens herself, and then bows to the spirit.

"Greetings, Spirit. I am Merutep, and this is Aya. What may we call you?"

RETIRED

Merutep smiles sheepishly as her kite scolds her once again.

"What a wonderful relic." she remarks in a calm, serene voice.

She approaches the statue to see if it reacts to her as pleasantly as it does Meriui.

What is it? (rolls):

Knowledge History: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Knowledge Nature: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Knowledge Planes: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Knowledge Religion: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21

RETIRED

Merutep packs the silver plates, glasses, and other silverware into her backpack.

---

Merutep follows Meriui down the hall only to see a moving statue!

"How fascinating!" Merutep exclaims. "Look at it move!"

RETIRED

Merutep nods. "Alright. Lead the way."

RETIRED

Merutep swings her quarterstaff at the blue skull!

Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Bludgeoning Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

"Hold still!" she tells it.

RETIRED

Have a good trip!

RETIRED

Religion: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21

"Oh! I know of these! They're beheaded! They are created by evil spell-casters to serve as guardians or hunters. Feel free to destroy them with impunity!"

Merutep moves forward and swings her quarterstaff at the green skull.

Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Bludgeoning Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

RETIRED

Just letting you know I’m currently suffering from an intense bout of vertigo. I’ll try my best, but I might not manage to keep up with posting over the next few days. Feel free to bot me if needed. Sorry for any potential hold up. And thanks for understanding.

RETIRED

"Oh! Right!" Merutep exclaims in embarrassment.

Ancient Osiriani:
"Greetings, honoured departed. Rest peacefully. We will not disturb your slumber."

She bows deeply to the skulls after saying something to them in the ancient tongue.

Straightening herself, she waits to see the skulls response.

RETIRED

As the heads levitate Merutep jumps in surprise. "Uhhhhh... Hello?"

RETIRED

Merutep looks around with interest. "As you say, Rashim."

Yup! West room sounds good.

RETIRED

Merutep and Aya follow close behind...

RETIRED

Merutep places a hand on the skeleton. She prays aloud in Ancient Osiriani.

Ancient Osiriani:
"May the Mother watch over you in the afterlife."

Then she stands up, brushes off her hands and looks around. She moves into the next room.

RETIRED

Merutep approaches the skeleton slowly, curious if its going to attempt to eat her alive.

RETIRED

"I think we're good. Would you like to do the honours?" she says, gesturing at the door.

RETIRED

Hi Huston!

I just assumed you'd contact us again when you were ready. Sorry if you were waiting on us to reach out. I didn't want to bug you when family should come first.

Sounds like you're ready to come back now? Either way I still wish you and your wife all the best.

RETIRED

"Eeek!" Merutep exclaims in a rather undignified fashion.

Merutep whacks at the beast with her quarterstaff.

Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

RETIRED

Well, then onward the other way!

Merutep approaches the house's smaller side door. She presses her ear against it and listens.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 5 + 2 = 27

Then waits for someone sturdier to open the door... Haha.

RETIRED

Merutep examines the flail she found.

Appraise: 1d20 ⇒ 4

"Does anyone want this? It's a bit heavy for me."

After someone claims the flail (or offers to put it in their backpack), Merutep wanders over to the little building in the corner and peeks inside. (the top right room that's blacked out on the map).

Perception: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 5 + 2 = 9

RETIRED

Did it get destroyed before I threw my acid at it? It wasn't mentioned, so I was just curious if I get to keep it.

RETIRED

"Oh my! Be careful Merui! Look out, Rashim! Back up!"

Merutep pulls out a vial of acid and waits for the others to get out of the way. Once they're safe she throws her acid at the bugs.

Waiting for Rashim and Merui to get out of the way of the swarm, then tossing my acid at it. Aiming for a corner not next to my companions (probably top right corner)

Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 2 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (14) + 2 + 1 - 4 = 13 Includes my use of guidance and the penalty for firing into melee
Acid Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1

RETIRED

Merutep grabs the flail (if she can reach it without harm) and hurries back up out of the way.

"Got it!"

As per the good doctor's request, Merutep gets out of the way.

RETIRED

My condolences to you and your family.

Take your time, Rashim.

RETIRED

Merutep peeks her head into the granary and looks around.

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15

RETIRED

Sense Motive 1: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 2 = 9
Sense Motive 2: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 4 + 2 = 18

Merutep grins at Hibbins. "I think you got it!"

RETIRED

"Oh, I don't know about magic." Merutep remarks. "But, I should be able to handle some skeletons just fine!"

Merutep peeks into the building to see if the skeletons are lifeless, or undead.

Knowledge Religion: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8 I know nothing... Haha.

"I'm going to go in for a closer look."

Merutep wanders right into the building to look around.

RETIRED

Merutep peeks inside, then moves on toward the next one.

RETIRED

Merutep pulls out her wand and presses it against Caius' wounds.

Healing: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

"It looks good so far. Let me know if you start to feel off."

She smiles brightly, puts away her wand, and looks around. "Shall we?"

RETIRED

"Oh, my! Such prowess!" Merutep exclaims. Then she turns her gaze onto Caius. "Please, let me inspect that bite wound."

Heal: 1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 9 + 1 = 22

Do I have any idea if it's infected or anything?

RETIRED

Merutep hurries forward, but is unable to get into the fight. As the dog bites Caius, Merutep exclaims, "Oh, careful!"

She holds out her arm and prays loudly, "Mother Isis, watch over your children!" As she speaks her hair begins to shimmer in the sunlight, and her eyes seem so bright they nearly glow.

Suddenly, a burst of calming energy flows out of Merutep and Aya, bathing her allies in Isis' blessing.

Casting bless. Granting my allies +1 on attack rolls and saving throws against fear for two minutes.

RETIRED

All the best to you and your family.

RETIRED

Can I assume you allow knowledge checks and talking out of initiative order?

Knowledge Arcana (w/ possessed ability): 1d20 ⇒ 15

"Eeek! A death dog!" Merutep shrieks in a rather undignified fashion. "Don't be fooled, they're not undead! Watch out for those worms! They infect and weaken everything the dog bites!"

RETIRED

Merutep quickly casts a protective spell on Caius and herself, (guidance) then readies her quarterstaff.

"Alright. I'm ready."

RETIRED

Merutep nods her head and smiles. "Oh, that sounds like a good plan! You're very clever, Rashim."

She points at the archway she just came through. "There's a yard over there and some outbuildings. Why don't we start on that side?"

RETIRED

When she regains her senses, Merutep looks at Aya and Hibbins in surprise.

"Wait... That can't... It wasn't..."

She catches her breath and lets out a chuckle. "That was not real at all! Wow! It was so terrifying!"

She lets out another chuckle, making her sound a bit like a mad woman. "Fascinating!"

Then she strokes the bird on her head and says to Hibbins. "We should rejoin the others."

Going back to rejoin the others. But I can't move Merutep or Aya on the map. It's not letting me select either of them.

RETIRED

"Aaaahhhh!" Merutep exclaims as she and Hibbins flee.
