Male personality Warforged Artificer (5)

Mender will shrug and then follow Shinus.

"Hm? Oh, yes. These. I have four vials containing some kind of liquid. I will be honest, I do not often "drink" as you non-'forged do. So I am somewhat at a loss. However, this amulet is magical, though what kind of magic I am not certain. I require some more materials in order to properly determin its properties. And finally, we have this hollow reed. Perhaps some sort of whistle or call? I cannot activate it in any case."

Mender turns to the rest of the group: "If anyone else wishes to examine these items feel free. For now, however, I believe we should move on and find out if Kaezen has discovered anything."

Male personality Warforged Artificer (5)

"Yes, thank you Kaezen." Mender takes each object individually and begins to examine them very closely, feeling them with his hands and closing his eyes and concentrating momentarily on each of them.

Mender takes a close look, and will use Artificer Knowledge on each of the objects to see whether or not they are magical.

Amulet Roll: (1d20+8=15)
Reed Roll: (1d20+8=18)

Beating DC 15 allows me to know whether or not these are magical objects, so unless there are further modifiers, I should know whether or not the objects are magical.

"We are near the Temple of Kha'shazul, so our main objective is nearly within sight. Barring any more interruptions by the locals, we should be arriving presently."

With this, Mender folds up the map and stows it away, looking around to see how the rest of the party is doing.

Male personality Warforged Artificer (5)

"Shinus, could you tend to Aldren and Hathir's wounds? They were injured in combat, and I would prefer not dipping into my emergency supply of restorative items." Mender turns to look at Hathir, and continues speaking in his deep voice. "As for you. I believe you are on the correct track. When you have completed your information gathering, let the rest of us know the situation. If this creature proves informative, we may be able to avoid further ambush."

Forgot to take the map, can we assume I grabbed it at the same time as the antitoxin and the sending stones? If so:

Mender takes the map from his pouch and starts to pore over it.

Mender will attempt to figure out the group's current location with the map.

Male personality Warforged Artificer (5)

Shinus? Hathir? Antitoxin? Also how many vials of antitoxin were there?

Male personality Warforged Artificer (5)

Taking the sending stones and the antitoxin, Mender looks to Sevvin, and says: "Thank you, Sevvin. I guarantee you that this task shall be done. I will be in touch." With that, he steps out of the office and starts making mental preparations for the upcoming journey.

Anyone else want the antitoxin? Mender has absolutely no use for it.

Male personality Warforged Artificer (5)

Mender tilts his head to the side slightly upon hearing Sevvin's announcement, looking puzzled, but then simply nods to Sevvin and the rest of the group. "I accept this responsability in the name of House Cannith, though I admit it comes as a surprise. I never thought to lead again after the Last War." At this point he almost seems to stand up straighter. He looks at Sevvin. "I, Unit L-009, also known as Mender, shall do my best to complete this expedition successfully for the best interests of House Cannith, as well as the best interests of our group. We shall find success and retrieve these relics." He looks to the group. "Does everyone else accept?"

Male personality Warforged Artificer (5)

Mender stands at attention in the office, keeping perfectly still as he waits for Sevvin to finish reading. His eyes lightly glowing with arcane energy, his face is otherwise completely passive.

As his name is mentioned by Hathir, and subsequently defended by Aldren, he steps over to join the conversation. Turning to address Hathir, he speaks in a raspy, gravelly voice: "Do not fear. You need not trust me. You need only trust House Cannith." He pauses for a moment. "I have been ordered to follow the instructions of Sevvin. Thus, we have similar goals. Surely, the task that we are about to receive will be simpler if we work as a close-knit group. I believe the unscarred human is correct in his assessment. Everyone must have a chance to prove themselves."

I presume that they succeeded against my Knight's Challenge, then? Or were they out of range?

If I recall correctly, the Test of Mettle's effects disappear if anyone besides the knight attacks the affected creature. Since I fired my crossbow at it, the effect wore off for that particular lizardfolk. My bad, I had completely forgotten about it until we played a game here a few days ago with a Knight in the party. Same discussion came up.

Concealment check: (1d100=37)

Mender's bolt manages to find its target through the jungle's concealing flora, pinning itself between the lizardfolk's scales.

Male personality Warforged Artificer (5)

Alright then, he'll fire off his crossbow at the closest one, use the attack roll in my spoiler (above), I guess, unless you want me to re-roll.

Male personality Warforged Artificer (5)

Can Mender see the other attacking lizardfolk? Do he need to make another Spot check? If so: Spot check: (1d20-1=0) ... Ouch.

Still disconcerted and oblivious to his surroundings, Mender fits the bolt into his crossbow and draws back the slide, preparing to fire at any of the other lizardfolk who move into clearer view.

Prepare action: If Mender catches a glimpse of one of the other lizardfolk (not the prone one), he will fire his crossbow at it.

Male personality Warforged Artificer (5)

Spot check: (1d20-1=6)

Moving to attempt to take cover from the hail of arrows and to make sure his enemy is within range, Mender draws his crossbow and fires at the only target that he can see: the lizardfolk with the onyx amulet.

Attack roll/Damage roll: (1d20+5=9, 1d8=3)

Disconcerted by the sudden ambush, his aim is not at its best. He calmly draws another bolt and gets ready to load it into his crossbow.

Male personality Warforged Artificer (5)

Mender is caught completely off-guard by the sudden attack, and is now attempting to collect his thoughts in order to enter the fray.

Initiative: 2 + 1 = 3

Mender would most likely be standing around the middle of the group, a few feet behind the Deneith defender.

Male personality Warforged Artificer (5)

Untouched by the insects and unaffected by the scorching heat, Mender marches tall along the jungle path with his companions, taking sure step after sure step. As he was trained to do, he keeps a look out on these foreign surroundings, hoping that no jungle predators stumble upon his group.

Spot check: (1d20-1=15)

Mender is complete, and ready to go. I have his backstory in mind, but have yet to write it down. However, I am finally, after all this time, 100% ready to play. Also, from now on, I should have no difficulty posting regularly!

One last question for DM Evil Genius: Can I already use the infusions from Magic of Eberron, or do I only know the ones from the Eberron Campaign Setting?

Thanks!

Male personality Warforged Artificer (5)

Just about finished, all I need now is to buy my random assortment of equipment and I'm good to go! Should be done soon.
